His mouth piece is hanging out for a lot of those, he'll shoot 20% once he has to keep it in his mouth or lose it.

Snows were HUGE this morning...zero impact on anything, and had stopped by the time I got to work. Fun to look at for a few minutes though.

***GEL Monday night Hoops on as scheduled***

-First batch of BGE wings were dope...although a little salty.

-A few days go by, and I'm back to thinking we have just as good of as shot as anyone. That's not true, but we *do* have a shot. Ulis/Murray ball at the same time & we get marginal contributions elsewhere, we're pretty damn good. What a wide open season...

-Awesome for Peyton. Already annoyed by the "well, he had NOTHING to do with the win" Lol, K. Cam played like **** too, if he'd won would people say the same thing?

NOBODY will care a year (or 10) from now that he had a marginal game/season...pretty big for he & his legacy to get that 2nd one, imo. Happy for him.

-Does anyone on the team look better going to the rim than Matthews...only to miss? My god, he converts at about a 10% clip around the rim. I expect that to change over his career. I just love the way he moves, hopefully he'll put it together as he gets more comfortable.

[laughing] at that pull-up brick he had. He fired that ball so hard off the backboard it went out to the 3 pt line...reminded me of "Roid Rage Guy" or whatever from those Dude Perfect videos. Lord.

-Congrats on NFL being over. [cheers] Now, we can watch overkill coverage about nothing til next year. [sick]

-Is Mardi Gras the NHL of festivals? Thing has seemingly been going on for months now, and I don't see an end in sight.

As long as I get another King Cake, I'm cool with it. The words & verbiage used for it creep me out for some reason. Definitely seems like quite the production tho.

Guessing it's a never-ending year-around deal for those really involved.

I'll let Ursh explain it all, but each parade is sort of a "fraternity." It actually sounds pretty dope, we were talking about putting a little krew together for next year.

One of the funnier moments of the weekend was the debate me and Mrs Vinny had over the term, f#ck boi. I'm pretty sure I won, thanks of course to Slim Jesus.

It's pretty funny that Bob Knight, that old son of a *****, didn't respond to IU for the 76 reunion but flew in for a Purdue fundraiser and sported Black/Gold. Funny in a sad curmudgeon kind of way. IU fans. Lol.

I laugh at Rick's proposal to just fine the **** out of the school and dock his pay.

So you want schools with multi-million dollar network tv deals to be forced to scratch a check for their sins to be absolved?[eyeroll] Yeah, that'll teach everyone involved a lesson. And he's worth 20+ million, so what's it to him if his salary is clipped?

And while it may not be fair for the players to miss the postseason, if they were having a year like Cuse did when they took their self-imposed ban, nobody would be clamoring for their jersey's to be retired or other nonsense.

Syracuse played it perfectly, forfeiting a **** season.

I'm sure it was just lucky, but it worked out pretty great for them.

The only thing I sort of agree with salty UL fan about its BS they have to sit home while UNC carries on. Oh well though. You can easily avoid these types of sticky situations by NOT USING WHORES TO RECRUIT.

RP: I talked to him only one time and he misled me. I was screaming, saying, “How can you do something like this?” He said, “Coach, all I did was have these women come over and they just listened to music.” I said, “Andre, if you’re lying ...” He said, “No, coach, I’m telling you the truth.” He said this woman was a party planner, that’s how he met her. I know now all these things he told me were lies, but I didn’t know him at the time. So I sent him one text message, which I’ve kept. I said, “Andre, I’ll forgive you. We go back a long way. I love you, son. Just tell the truth.”

My sister and I scored some tix on Saturday 3 rows behind the UK bench. Really cool experience. Been that close before but not directly behind the team's bench.

Very entertaining to hear the dialogue between Cal and our players. It's funny to me that the he would say the same things to the players that he says over and over in the media. Same sayings with the same talking points.

Realize none of the following is groundbreaking stuff it was just neat to see it up close;

- Cal rode Willis all game. Relentless. Took him out in the 1st half and lit into him about rebounding. Don't worry about your shot. Rebounding is what will keep you out there.

A few minutes later he put Willis back in and he didn't get position for a few boards. Cal took him out and then looked at the rest of the team & staff.. " Well, that's ok. Derek doesn't want to play today because his shot isn't going down. That's ok. We'll give Isaac a shot."

- Cal was so pumped about Humphries' effort.

-Even though Murray was having a career game and he was all over him throughout the game about how to defend Florida's guards & cutting down straight line drives. Really working Murray about positioning on D.

- Cal doesn't get on Ulis or Briscoe at all. On offense he fully trusts Ulis to make the right call 90% of the time. Briscoe was playing his *** off on defense and I suppose because he is so good on D he gives him a pass. In timeouts he kept re-emphasizing to Murray, Ulis and Briscoe on being physical with ball pressure.

-Think Cal is tired of Marcus Lee. He ripped into him once when Lee gave up the And One drive in the 2nd half. He said something along the lines that if you're going to foul out every game then foul them hard & not give up and one baskets. Other than that he just kept staring at Kenny Payne and shaking his head whenever Lee didn't make a positive play.

- Really jumped out to me how much more physical the game is than we realize.. Especially in the paint. That and how fast everything happens. Like on a catch and shoot with Murray in the 2nd half he was working so hard to get open and when he caught it there would be 1-2 split seconds of daylight to get off a clean shot.

Also became really apparent that 90% of what we try to do/ generate on offense goes through Ulis and Murray. With no legit post threat we constantly are working dribble hand offs, pick/pop and drive & kicks to get those 2 a good look. We don't even try to act like we can get a bucket from the post. When we play a team like Florida with pressure man to man principles and with Murray & Ulis getting hot we'll be ok but these teams that play zone & don't allow our guards to get open space by beating them off dribble... Very concerning.

-UofL losing the banner would be worthy of a ticker tape parade.

-Do feel bad for some local retailers that rely on March business. I sold a shopping center a few years ago and saw the reported sales of a UK/UofL clothing retailer... it was like a 1,000% increase in March. Outrageous. Clearly made their year, even more so than Christmas. Sucks for them.

-Thought about the 1997 Manning/Couch game at Commonwealth last night as I watched Peyton's final game. Sort of amazing, really. I was 15 at the time and remember the day very well. Sports are pretty cool.

-Excited about bball tonight. We got 10+?

-Lass and I took in a double feature at the Kentucky Saturday night after the game; Brooklyn and The Big Short. Both were fantastic imo, with the edge given to Brooklyn. Really a great movie.

-Portofino's before. [laughing].

K.

-Glad winter is back for our ski trip of a lifetime this Saturday. [thumb2]

-Not to pile on about our new BRANDING but tapdancing Christ the new checkered banner/UH logo for the under 8 minute mark is perfectly embarrassing. Oof.

Does Willis not realize that just him being out there to stretch the defense whether his shot is falling or not does a world of good? I mean box out fool and don't get into foul trouble.

Portofino snackdown, Brooks?

-Should have 12-15 tonight, but if anyone has a buddy feel free to bring...based on last time, a few more bodies wouldn't be a bad thing. Turbo, UKO, Rob, and Bristol are 4 newcomers this week. SGNI?

...'73 is out. Haven't heard otherwise from anyone else, and everyone last week said they'd be back, so assume we'll be fine.

-Didn't 'Captain Suntan' start in GYERO? It's pretty much Twitter-Wide at this point.

RP: That’s the only thing I can’t understand. I had an interesting story. I went to vote and while I was standing in the polling area, a lady came up to me and said she grew up with this woman [Katina Powell], and she told me a bunch of stories I can’t repeat to you. I said to her, “Look, ma’am, tell me something. You knew Andre. Why did he do this?” She said, “It’s obvious, coach. He came to this neighborhood and he was treated like LeBron [James]. Everybody wanted to get in with him because he was an ex-player at Louisville. He let it go to his head. He wanted to be the ring leader.” That’s the only explanation I’ve gotten from anybody that makes any sense, because he would never get any credit for a recruit coming to Louisville. He was the operations guy. Ops guys don’t get credit for recruits.

[laughing]
you've got to be touching kidding me, so much bullish in that. someone who grew up with Katina randomly saw Pitino when he went to vote in Nov, approached him, and they have this lengthy reveling discussion? And the whole point of McGee's act was just to be treated like a big shot in West Louisville?

You can't even pick up 680 or 93.9 THE VILLE outside of The Watterson which is fitting since that fanbase doesn't even make up 1/2 of their own city.

Jurich is a redneck. He doesn't understand the wit involved with Mags or KSR. That's why he tried Captain Suntan first in Ramsey. Failed. Touch him.

Your point is well taken. However, we were pressed for time between the game and movie's start. It's across the street from the theater. Whatever.

Resident Lexingtonians might take solace in the fact that no patrons appeared to be happy or having fun, and the environment was incredibly stale, per local customs. Inane horse art was on point fwiw.

A friend told me that the Budweiser plugs from Manning were due to the fact that he owns exclusive distributorship rights to Budweiser in a couple big markets down south in Louisiana or Mississippi. Sounds plausible. I'm sure Manning has his fingers in a lot of pies. He doesn't exactly strike me as the Antoine Walker type.

It's amazing how differently the NFL and other leagues officiate the playoffs vs. the regular season. All sports have become wide open in the regular season, but when the playoffs come around, the physicality increases tenfold. You get away with a whole lot more holding/pushing/hacking in the playoffs, and defense becomes an absolute priority. Last night was no different. What a physical *** game.

Actually hope this was a f you to Goodell.

Roger Goodell banned NFL players from endorsing alcohol products almost a decade ago, so hearing Peyton Manning speak proudly of his thirst for a third-rate Belgian lager after winning tonight’s Super Bowl might have raised your eyebrows. But it’s not even the first time Peyton Manning has mentioned the brand; he did this two years ago, too, and everyone quietly noted the Broncos quarterback owns a few Anheuser-Busch distributors. (The Belgians claim they didn’t pay Peyton Manning to mention them.)

That doesn’t mean Manning’s not retiring, as such a blatant disregard for NFL policy might suggest—but we’ll choose to believe a third possibility: that it’s just a “**** you” to Roger Goodell.

-Obligated to post -> 38 and wintry mix. FEBRUARY!!

-I love KY Theater. It's awful viewing and uncomfortable but the cozy charm is unbeatable. Must have missed our invite text from the SAEs.

:100points:Went Antiquing with the wife in Shelbyville Saturday. First stop was Wakefield-Scearce Galleries which was just a super cool spot where Science Hill Inn is. I'm sure some of you have been or know about it but i really enjoyed the history of the building.

:basketball:Nice to see Humphries play, wonder how good he would be had he played all along.

Joey Brackets has us as a 4 seed. Why did the UT game have to happen, i thought a corner was turned? Well, maybe in the long run it will get these guys attention even more and be the best thing for them.

Some game notes:

UK is 32-7 under Calipari in bounce-back games after losses. UK has never lost more than two in a row in Calipari’s seven seasons.

UK won the rebounding, 37-28. UK has a 16-1 record this season when winning or tying the rebounding but is 1-5 when losing the carom gathering.

UK limited Florida to 61 points. The Wildcats are 128-5 under Calipari when holding the opponent to 63 or fewer points.

Murray is the first player in school history to have two 30-point games in his freshman season

Murray hit 8-of-10 on his 3-point attempts. The 80 percent mark is the second-best single-game mark in school history with a minimum of eight made

Ulis is the first Wildcat with at least four assists in 16 consecutive games since Roger Harden had 17 in the 1985-86 season.

Derek Willis has led the team in rebounding in six of the last seven games.

Just because a banner has never come down for a championship doesn't mean there can't be a first time. Really hope it happens this time and we have two in play, 05 and 13, would be nice to see both but id take 1. If you had your choice would it be UNC or UL's? Is it a no-brainer you would take down UL's?????

:football:Had a feeling the Broncos would win all along. Good for Peyton. I was at that UT/UK game as well SAE, i remember it being very dark for a day game with more people/media around the inside of the stadium than any game i have ever seen at Commonwealth. Very cool setting for that one.

:golf:Fowler with such a heartbreaking loss yesterday. Dude was crying in the press room, he really wanted that win for his grandfather who introduced him to the game.

He had 6 rebounds, tied for the most. That is like 5 games in a row he has lead the team in rebounds ain't it.

Felt bad for Fowler, too. He's been playing his *** off and not holding anything back. And, that cost him on the short par 4 when he picked up the driver and his shot rolled into the drink. Figured he would have tried to nut a 3 wood and stay somewhat safe. Still, he had chance to save par but hit a really ****** chip back and left himself a long putt for par, which he obviously missed. He didn't really recover and even his putt on 18 was shaky, especially after Matsuyama put the screws to him draining his.
