Just watched the Bama sorority recruitment video which was pretty ridiculous (and I'm not talking about how hot the girls were, I'm talking about how ridiculous sororities make such things, but I digress). Here is my main point, though:

A few years back, Clark and I got into a meaningless GYERO argument claiming belly-button rings were trashy and no girls wore them down there anymore. Well, Clark, every girl in that video had a bellybutton ring, so...

BAM! :boom: ROASTED, bro!

Monday Randoms:

- I get the fascination with Vegas, but it's just not my type of city. I'd rather go walleye fishing on Erie.

- Canned tomatoes from the garden last night, the secrete ingredient to the sauce I'll be making this winter.

- celebrated the anniversary (8 years!) yesterday with a skirt steak and chimichurri, washed it down with a 6er of Fat Tire.

- Went to the lake with my parents on Saturday, good times (caught enough crappie for them to have dinner). The army was doing training exercises and there was more than one point were a Chinook flew within 50' of our boat at full tilt. Pretty amazing.

- Dug potatoes out of the garden over the weekend and picked about 40-50 lbs of tomatoes.

- The first college football game is the week after next, UK starts in less than 3 weeks.

- Dorms opened up at UK, the amount of foot traffic around downtown with the new North side campus dorms has visibly increased, it's only going to be more pronounced as they open more beds up next year. I enjoy the activity in my neighborhood, feels like a more legit downtown.

I know I'm an old and rushed over 20 years ago when no one on a college campus had a cell phone, digital video cameras, drones with cameras, etc. BUT at some point in time you have to figure someone is going to say "hey, kids, maybe this isn't your thing? maybe you don't have the judgment to see how this might be perceived by the public?"

Or maybe they just don't GAF. Like I said, I'm an old.

I don't see what was bad about it at all. Ridiculous, yes, but it's not like they were doing blow and giving the football players handies in the video.

You guys seen 'The Retreat' at UofL? Let's be honest, this is pretty ridiculous.

I can't imagine all the fun that will be had in that place (before it's trashed in 5 years, at least)

Check this **** out, scroll through the pics at the bottom. Basically looks like a Super Sized Sherard Circle with a touching Resort in the middle, but directly across the street from Main Campus.

I didn't see it. Just assumed there was something on it that got people riled up. Maybe a racist version of an old children's song?

Point is- kids are dumb, technology and social media ensures that everyone sees that kids are dumb, and I'm an old.

I was actually pretty impressed by the crew of 6th graders I was sharing the high dive with Saturday. Highlights:

-Token chubby kid yelling at the scared little girl who was taking too long to jump for the first time. Kid gave zero F's.

-Cockiness of one bragging about attempting a double off the high dive because he "did a flip off the low dive."

Against my advice, seconds later he smacked his side badly and his buddies let out a collective "OOOHHHH!" exhibiting no empathy. Poor bastard was initially fighting back tears, but minutes later was showing off his massive welt.

-Rampant lying and one-upping about what they had done off the board previously, including 360's, flying squirrels, sailor dives, and touching the bottom with a pencil dive. Of course they weren't doing any of those Saturday.

-One boy telling the taller, early pubescent girl that he can communicate now online via his brother's ipad and that they should all talk later.

Fun to see that behavior again.

No, but the indications were there. Blowing pixie dust, house music(in southern university) for the background music, playing football w/black dudes(OMG) in dukes.

I get it but I agree I think it's way overblown. If this was UCLA and not Bama we wouldn't have ever known.

The same company built those Retreat complexes in Tuscaloosa a 5 or so years back. Its away from campus, in its on little corner. Got pretty wild out there.

Yep, my favorite era. Zero worries. All fun. Courting had begun. Summers were the best time ever. My silk shirt game was untouchable.

Cannonball or can opener?

I get better splashes with the can opener (with the correct twist at the end) but a cannonball is always a crowd pleaser.

Can opener and it's not even close. Gainer into a can-opener (nailed this in college but too scared to try now lol) really got the ppl going.

Cannonballs are for white trash, TS.
False re: cannonballs. Really get you warmed up, get that "omg my head is gonna get popped off" feeling when you enter the water.

That Retreat place looks like a place I looked at here in Dallas. For adults though. Only difference I see is that it didn't have the study lounge and computer lab. Fortunately for them they didn't have a 1 bedroom available.

I was imagining this when I read high dive but I'm pretty sure no one attempts can openers off the tower.

So, is Lakeside just a huge pool complex for rich families?

They have a bar for you adults?

-Rack Chase, I don't get it.

Pretty sure that sorority video will soon be blamed on male chauvinistic frats that pressure these sororities to be like that.

Rolling Stone may even do an exposé on it. The pressure of these young innocent girls to be hot, blonde, and dumb is criminal.

Rich? no. It was about $1,200 or so to join and runs a family of 3 $600 +/- per year. Very reasonable. It's just hard to get a membership because you need a certificate member (lives in the immediate neighborhood) to sponsor you. No alcohol.

Once you get a membership you never give it up.

not just younger & more attractive, but probably all the whiteness & bleach blondeness & skinniness has caused fat frumpy brunette Northeastern gals to be so unhappy

All I think watching that vid is goddamn wish I was 20 yrs old again

Westry has already seized one of the #1 cornerback spots, nice. and I knew Stoops getting more involved coaching that unit would be a great thing, coaching excellent secondaries is where he built his rep

"The Retreat" is a perfect name, because that is what the typical residence will do if any of that school's recruited football & basketball players with their crews head in that direction

Doesn't Signature Club serve booze? No booze seems like a bummer. Why would I sit around a pool without a few colides?
