After hearing Mitch this morning here's my take on the logo...
UK after speaking with some marketing or PR agency came to the decision that the university as a whole would benefit from one universal logo. The Nike UK Athletics logo was probably suggested and was easily the most recognizable symbol of the school. People on the academic side of things probably lost their **** and refused to accept it because sports are not important. So to get them to STFU and accept a new "universal" logo they just made a slight alteration to the current athletics' logo which had the unintended consequence of fans hating it.

Why am I intrigued by the people that were running the day care Fight Club? I mean that's awful, right? For some reason I keep thinking, "you know... not a terrible idea." I'm going to Hell.
Honestly couldn't tell anyone **** what's going on with the NFL right now. Loved the NFL growing up but ESPN shoving it down America's throat 24/7/365 and the overall douceubaggery of NFL fan in general has really turned me off. NFL fan is the lowest hanging fruit of sports fan and that's really saying something. That stupid *** NFL.com commercial that ran last year really sums of NFL fandom. PHIL GREW UP IN DETROIT BUT MARRIED A COWBOYS FAN FROM CINCY. THEY RELOCATED TO CLEVELAND AND THEIR SUNDAY FUNDAY FRIENDS ARE BROWNS FANS. THEY BECAME BROWNS FANS BUT THEN DURING THE HOLIDAYS THEY SPEND WITH COUSINS IN BUFFALO SOMEHOW RUBBED OFF ON THEIR CHILDREN & THEIR CHILDREN BECAME BILLS FANS UNTIL THEY MOVED AGAIN TO PHILADELPHIA... HA..HOSE RASCALS ARE NOW EAGLES FANS. PUT ON YOUR JERSEYS AND SAY CHEESE!
Don't listen to national sport stalk radio. Only The Leach Report, Mags and some Jason Anderson on 680.
Don't watch Sports Center. In the evenings I flip back and forth between ESPNU & the SEC Network. The Finebaums is the best thing on tv right now, IMO. Of course the callers are outrageous but he gets the best interviews covering anything and everything about the SEC & college football as a whole.

The Franchise caps look better than they fit and wear. The new Titleist cap is super comfortable. And doesn't stain as much as its not cotton. I have the K cap and like it but it fits awful. Form and function is important when rating caps. IMO.
I actually got to work at 8:30am for once, have had ESPN on in the background, and there hasn't been a single mention of College Football, which kicks off ON ESPN.
It's been a 3 hour Brady conversation, which I expect to continue up until kickoff, that is, if they don't cancel the coverage and just do a Brady debate instead.

Bought it last year and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't like this trend of going away from flex-fit hats that I'm seeing, however.The best:
This is exactly what happened. They wanted to emphasize the "U" a little more to appease the academics, and in doing so, gave us the wack-*** "K." I don't like it, but when I saw it showing up in the graphics of the new dorms last month, knew it was a lost cause. Too much investment at this point for them to back down now.
Love this hat and way it fits. I'm all for simple hats. Love the old school Game hats as well.
What are the chances UNC pursues a Brady/Pats angle when their punishment comes down? If bball is hit fairly hard I strongly suspect they will. Even though the evidence is there for the most part.

The Legends produce this blue and white hat with "LEX" on the front that I wear with my UK stuff. It fits well and looks like a UK hat (which I'm sure isn't an accident).
Down to the ears mainly. 7-1/2 works for most caps. Most caps fit "short" on me.

My brother-in-law is 27 and I am 34. The difference in tastes in hats is astonishing. I can't imagine being a part of the flat bill generation.
-Those 24/7 hats, as mentioned by 73, look great but fit like ****. At least for my perfectly shaped head. I still wear it but it fits weird.
I'd prefer a CATS hat like what Cricket posted.

-Gorgeous out. Gets a little warm around 4-5 this week but by 6:30 last night it was fine and by 7:30 as I was finishing up my run it was perfect. The heat would be a problem if we were tailgating in the BlueLot or if it was a 12p/3p kick off. Not so much.

I don't get nor would i ever wear another team on my UK shirts. The Duke with the d and e marked out,NO. The Carolina cheaters shirt, NO. Anything with a cardinal on it,NO. Have never understood anyone that would wear that crap. I support one team and whatever i wear will reflect that team.

False about emphasizing the U more. The U is not not emphasized any more at all. Not one little bit.
They decided to try to be artistic and have the intersection of the K mimic the shape of the bottom of the U so it would "lock" in place.
Also, all of the sections of both the U and the K are more uniform in thickness.
But I pretty much agree with everything else you said.
I am not a fan of the new logo, but it doesn't bother me very much at all. We'll get used to it. In the pecking order of things to worry about, it ranks down there with what shade of blue wcc's shirt is and which rub Dr. Boat likes to put on his pork.

I understand the fury over the logo ( :chairshot:was livid at first), but if you actually look at only the K they have made the logo back to the BLOCK K as close as they can get it without compromising the integrity of the interlocking Nike template.
