I'm sorry. It's 2pm on Tuesday and I haven't had a drink yet -- i'm in a bit of a bad way.

-How does one go about finding a gym to rent, borry, etc for a weekly game of basketball with friends? Haven't played regularly in a decade, seems like many of us would like to get back into something like that. Monday nights would seem perfect.

Any local GYEROs/lurkers have any connections/ideas? I'd be happy to set it up or do the leg work...doubt we'd have a problem finding plenty to play each week.

Got any church friends, Llama?

^ I think it's the same one. Could be wrong.

-Rich..did a little research online, hard to tell. Seems like you almost have to 'luck' into something. I'm sure nobody would have a problem with $10 a man or whatever, just don't really know where to begin looking.

Wonder if random middle schools/etc offer their up, would think they would -- but may be liability issues there. No clue.

I'm trying to slow down personally. I almost never drink "too much" at once but it's probably more than I should be drinking and it makes me sleep like absolute ****. Really need to clean my life up.

Always thought it was supposed to be the opposite effect. Makes me sleep like garbage as well.

Wine is the only thing I can drink at night/before bed. Everything else clogs me up, end up mouth breathing/dry mouth, etc.

Yes, it is for me, no problems admitting it... It's not like your running plays and prepping for games.

It's a kickass workout and for someone like me who needs the accountability it's perfect

Pretty much. Yes I do crossfit. Blah blah blah crossfit cult expensive egomaniac.

I went from gym snob to fatass who never worked out and back at it hard again. I found something I like. Big f******* deal.

I'm now of the mindset of applauding anyone who wants to get in shape. No matter the form or fashion, location, cost, or type of shower.

Some people need to get a touching grip on what they get all worked up about.

- Lexington this past weekend for NYE and a wedding. Absolute blast. Body was not happy about it yesterday.

- Bags got left in Charlotte on a layover when we got to Lex on NYE. Was up for 30 straight hours, no shower, and probably looked like a drugged up homeless person when I found out my bags were lost. Not happy. Even less happy when they called at 9PM and let me know that the company that had my bags, which were supposed to be delivered that night, didn't have enough drivers so they'd bring them to me "sometime" on the 1st. Was headed back to Louisville to see family anyway for lunch, so I told them to just hold on to the bags and I'd pick them up in the morning at the airport. On my way down 64 halfway to Louisville the next morning and the company calls saying they just delivered my bags in Lexington. Of course they never got the message to leave them at airport. Blessed.

- Hawaii in 10 days though. And I got sleep last night. Things are looking up.

- Also, anyone who enjoys the cold can go touch themselves. Pleasant -7 wind chill this morning leaving the hospital.

Isn't there a place called Hoops in Louisville for this? Bean plays every Monday, I assume it's some old dudes league. Why not just join there?

Thought Hoops was more of a league type deal...could be wrong.

Was thinking more along the lines of a regular group of the same 10-15 guys who get together every week for a couple hours of run and good fellowship.

Suter's bro had this setup for many years at a church off Hurstbourne back in the day and it was perfect. Why'd they quit that, Richie...everyone get mad b/c you wouldn't pass the damn ball?

BBdK, its worth a call to the schools. I know several men's leagues up here where I live play at the middle school on week nights. The only issue is if school teams have to reschedule a practice or game for any reason, they get priority. But for the most part they get Mondays and Wednesdays from 8 to like 930.

And by men's leagues, one is a Church group that shows up and just picks teams based on who shows up. So its not technically a league just a time slot they can use.

no way a school lets you in. too much liability. used to do a track workout at waggoner (sponsored by ken combs), and we were constantly being harassed about usage.

church is the best route. we'd ball all the time at southern hills in lex. they let us have it for free because we were hs/college kids, but only once it was done being used (typically midnight). that place stayed rented constantly for private events. also had weekly men's night where it was something like $3 to show up and play. but if you have $$ and an in with a church member, you're good to go.

hope this helps, you church seeking weirdo.

Firefighters Union Hall off New Cut Rd rents hourly. Used to get it together on Sunday afternoons with a group to play ball.

At what age do you magically develop "old man at the Y" game, i.e., a variety of bank shots and floaters from odd angles coupled with a slightly off-putting stench that makes your defender give you just enough room to fire up a flat-footed J?

I got to play a few times last month at a neighborhood gym. All 30+ year old professionals which gave me a false sense of what little athletic ability I may still have.

It was really fun, though I was most grateful that I got out of there without injury. Nice off-season activity before softball starts back up.

Softball prep is a major focus of my very basic workout routine I have begun, max. Man... looking forward to those warm summer evenings under the lights; swigging pilsners, burning heaters, and fraternizing with our nation's laborforce.

Can't beat it.

Us Lexington area posters will keep it simple on our Monday get together. No gym or injuries, just black tar heroin and a fun poker game. Maybe even a little bubbly action if funbob hosts.

Weather's been so nice, been toying with the idea of letting the kids go out and shag some monster bombs from dad out at the park.

Of course, it's still cold out, don't want to crack the ol' Powerrr-stick. lol

I'd be down for the GYERO basketball league if I lived in Louisville, TS.

I'm 'wayyyy much better at 3on3 as opposed to running up and down the court 5on5' guy. Set me a pick and I'll eat. Will def guard in half court. But don't ask me to run up and down the effing court with 9 other out of shape mid 30 somethings for uncontested layups. Eff that.
