As bad as it was, it’s not time to give up. Not even close.

I’ve seen some of you compare this team to the 2012-13 NIT team and that’s absurd. Outside of Nerlens Noel, all of you would take a player from this team over a player from that team at every position. So let’s chill with the unfair comparisons to the worst team of the Calipari era.

[poop]

Do better Drew Franklin.

Water Fountain >>>>>>>>>> anyone we trot out at the 3/4.
Alex Poythress 13 = Alex Poythress 16. Might give the edge to 13.
Goodwin and Murray are a wash.
Mays vs. Briscoe???? Closer than you think.
Freshman WCS vs. Skal? Give me Willie.

Ulis is the only obvious choice vs. Harrow.

I guess when you build a program on 18 year olds you just gotta take your lumps every other year. Just glad we're not in a conference worth a ****. #blest:pray:

I think you forget how awfully frustrating that Goodwin was.

Kind of saw Goodwin coming though. The guy looked and sounded.... dumb. Murray seemed like such a sure thing. That's why I'd place him tops in the frustration category.

Jamal Murray - 17.1 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.2 APG, 3.1 TOPG

Archie Goodwin - 14.1 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.1 APG, 3.1 TOPG

Murray has Goodwin on 3PG% and that's about it. Overall FG% is about the same.

This season wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as frustrating if we didn't **** the bed last year. We knew this year would be down after losing 7 NBA players but jesus christ if we won last year I would feel a lot better about everything.

If we had won last year and finished 40-0, that team would still be the biggest story in college basketball this year.

- Apologies to @Kramer318. Let my frustration with Murray get in the way of my good sense in the first half. You were right- the frontcourt is obviously this team's biggest problem. The guards aren't great, but just a pathetic effort from our bigs. Actually, pathetic is understating it.

Lee- 5 min, 0 p, 2 r, 2 to, FOULED OUT
Poythress- 26 min, 4 p, 4 r, 3 to, 0-3 FT, FOULED OUT

^ I don't even know which is worse.

- I suppose you HAVE to play Lee/Poythress at the 4/5 but that 3-spot is up for grabs. I'd give Mulder a try. Why not? Kid pulled down 8 boards. His shot looked good. I watched him on D and he was solid, better than everyone else we played (even Ulis who had an off game on that end).

- I'm NOT surprised we lost and kind of figured we were going to have trouble on the road in conference, but was surprised we didn't even show up. You could tell from the first minute this team was mailing it in.

- At this point in '13, we had ZERO quality wins. I don't want to hear that ****. Plus, I'm still not convinced we don't come together and make a decent March run that year if Noel doesn't go down.

- Just going to have to buy into the process and wait for the team to get it. I know some would prefer to be pessimistic and ***** and moan, but that's not me and it's no fun. Despite what some of you claim in hindsight, you were not cool, calm and collected in Jan/Feb of '11 and '14. I have faith in Cal. I still think this team can do some damage. Obviously, we're not close yet. If you can't have a little faith in a guy who's taken you to four F4s in 5 years, well, F off.

About time to hide OCD73 for a few months. Good gawd.

STFU Homer. Goodwin and Murray are destined to have the same effing career. They are the same player, except Goodwin is slightly more athletic, which probably gives him the edge in the long run.

And give me the 13 team in a head to head matchup.

I love you, 73, but I can't deal with bitching and moaning and doom and gloom for two months while this team gets its **** together. UKBB is supposed to be fun. I prefer to be optimistic based upon prior performance under this staff. I don't want to wallow in misery. You obviously prefer the other route. That's fine, but you're getting the hook from me.

I hear ya buddy. We all want the CATS! to win. Just having a tough time watching this crap. Calipari is a roller coaster, but the highs are oh so high. And the lows correspondingly so.

Exactly. This is still fun. Cal's brand of building a squad solely on talent is fun. It's what I wanted. This team isn't one of those typical, coglike 20-30ish ranked teams (i.e. they can win some games but they don't have it for March). We may not catch on, but the potential keeps me tuning in, and you might as well enjoy it.

I guess that's my issue this year, but where is the talent? Ullis and Murray? Yes, I can see it. Who else? Skal? I just don't see it with him this year, but maybe I'm just being frustrated and blinded by cynicism right now. At least 2014 had WCS, the twins, Randle, Young, Poy, D Johnson. In the 14 tourney run Aaron Harrison, Andrew Harrison, James Young, Randle, Poy, D Johnson all played great. That's 6 guys that got hot and played well in the tourney. Do we have 6 guys that have that potential? Ullis will play good, hopefully Murray gets hot, but then who else? Briscoe's jumper is busted, I don't see him all of a sudden becoming a good shooter and the defense will just sag off of him now till the rest of his damn career. Skal? Are we hoping for Skal? Who else? Lee is what he is, Poy maybe? Just don't see it with this team.

Skal is a mild-mannered ***** with little experience against similar talent. His skills are there though. Hope he figures it out; seems like a great kid who deserves pro riches more than anyone we've had here. That said, I don't think he's a guy you blindly give minutes knowing that he'll click at some point. He needs another year imo.

-Uplifting read this morning, mostly[eyeroll] . It's fun either way to watch and see what happens. It's January 6, chill with the woe is me, when does next year start crap.

-Headed to Steamboat for 11 days on Monday so I'm good either way. So ready to get off this rock for a couple weeks.

-Taking two weeks off the gym too which is needed, I rarely miss a day and it's catching up. Have some of the vaunted Shroomtech Sport locked and loaded for the gym when I get back.

Have moved on from Making a Murderer. Find the West Memphis stuff more disturbing actually. Have finished the first two Paradise Lost.

I am most thankful neither took place in Kentucky.

The more I think about Briscoe, the madder I get.

He's freaking 18-51 from the FT line (35%). That's unbelievable. And he doesn't just miss, he's rarely even close...like he's shooting blindfolded.

4-21 from 3 (19%)

Basically, outside of 1 foot, he shoots around 20% from everywhere else. His 5 rebounds aren't that damn important, bring his *** off the bench.

And I'm pretty sure of the 4 threes he has hit, 2 were banked in.

I can deal with him being a poor 3 point shooter. I can not deal with a 35% free throw shooter. He'd be better off closing his eyes.

Maybe if UKs great medical team could put briscoes brain in Poys body we could have a pretty legit PF. Briscoe would bully people to death and hit layup after layup smacking the glass each time. How awesome would that be? And how plausible?

Briscoe getting 30 mpg while being completely unable to shoot screws up the entire offense and is a fatal flaw for this team. If we only put 2 scorers on the floor at a time then our margin of error is razor thin.

I'm not getting the Murray hate. If he wasn't out there we'd probably have 5 shot clock violations per game ala the last three possessions of the NCAA tournament last year. It basically comes down to Skal sucking. Direct your sports hate to that clown as opposed to Murray who has to do a little too much because nobody else is worth a damn.

It's almost as if Briscoe's hands are numb. Maybe he's got undiagnosed Raynaud's disease, carpal tunnel, or peripheral neuropathy.

Obviously, most comes from the high expectations. BUT...

  • In all 3 of our losses, he played pretty poorly until the game was just about out-of-reach and then he came on.
  • Against Louisville, he almost singlehandedly let them back in the game with 7 awful turnovers.
  • His defense has been pretty terrible at times and mediocre overall.

Willis has made 2 3pointers in each of the last 2 games, and at least 1 in 6 of his last 7...

...while inching up near 40% on the season, after a pretty horrid start % wise.

There's your 3 man, imo. And don't tell me about his defense, I honestly couldn't care less.
