- I only have room in my heart for one psychotic relationship with a sports team. That team is Kentucky basketball. That's the only one that hurts me. I'm a fan of the others (Reds, Bengals, UK football)- follow them year round, watch all the games, cheer, give a ****, but I wasn't hurt over the Reds blowing their playoff appearances and I'm not hurt about the Bengals. I'm pissed, annoyed and disappointed, but it's different with UK basketball. Maybe it's the expectations or maybe it's just because it's always been the one with which I most connected. I don't know.

- Kansas giving a point to WVU in Morgantown tonight.

- Bama's talent is just stupid. You have backups and backups' backups making plays only a couple dozen guys in college football can make. Who had Howard and Drake starring last night?

- I love sports media, and I bring this up because I bitched about it last year at this exact same time.

A year ago: Urban Meyer has passed Nick Saban as the best coach in college football!!!!!

September 2015: Has Saban lost it? Is Bama's run over?????

Today: Nick Saban is the greatest college football coach of all-time!!!!!

Helluva turnabout.

- Let's hope Poythress keeps on a keeping on tonight. I can't deal with a step back after that performance.

- Say it again- any sports fan who doesn't like the NFL Playoffs isn't much of a sports fan.

- Arizona is in a bad spot with Trier out with a broken hand.

- Appreciate Anth's continued commentary of a game he didn't watch. Who wants to hear my PGA takes?

- The Dog Days of Winter. Just focus on UK basketball, working out and snow. March is on the horizon.

Cheering for your conference when you suck and add nothing to your conference is a UL fan trait, tbh, so I'm not surprised to see you louisville city folks backing this loser mentality.

Yeah, but when we do something in basketball "they" don't give a ****
Avery's recruiting pitch doesn't include "playing basketball in the SEC."

On the football side, that's pretty much our main draw. It doesn't end up helping at all, but at least there's a glint of a reason, imo.

I wanted to see Clemson to get the onside kick and set up a last second TD. Had no rooting interest in the game, just glad it was a good game- other than it going on till about 1 am.

Had to root for Bama. Not just pro-SEC, but can't have UL's conference win it, especially a team that barely beat those chumps. Plus, SEC lost the last 2 years, so time to bring that trophy back. Don't really give a **** whether some random SEC fans were rooting against us last March. Also, Clemson can eat a D. After playing them an estimated 19 times in bowl games and losing every time the last 25 years, I can't stand them. Yes, I know it was only 3 games, and we won one of them, I was at all 3 games. But anyway, screw those guys.

If Chad allowed us to talk about UofL sports radio I'd share how early scuttlebutt is last night's close loss, in conjunction with their close loss to Clemson in September, only reaffirmed that next year is their *opportunity* to crack the playoffs.

And college football will just have to wait 9 months for the Cards-Tigers rematch...

Sorta like how Clark ruined Bama for me...but I'm back on liking them, kinda, now that he's outta there...

Currently out of there, but actually received some info about a position there yesterday afternoon. WE"LL SEE

Thought Clemson played as good as they could have. Special teams was the difference. Watson played his best game. The one mistake he got baited into the interception by a really good secondary- one he lit up most of the night. He fit some throws into some really small windows.

Coker is a bit of a loon. Still makes some dumb decisions, misses some easy throws. But he made some plays last night, and over the last few games he didnt do anything to hurt his team- which is all they need from him.

No clue what kind of pro Henry will be. Guess it always depends on the situation he ends up in. A lot of those football gurus thought Trent Richardson would be a stud, and thought Lacy would have to fight to stay on a roster. The NFL is weird.

Was rooting for Clemson because Alabama fans are the worst (sorry Clark) but then I saw Howie Lindsey's Twitter tweets about the game. He was #ALLIN on Clemson because the Cards and the Tigers are ACC brothers from way back.

"Bama has never seen an offense like this."

"You don't see these kinds of athletes playing in the SEC."

"For the first time all year, Alabama is facing an elite QB."

So Roll TIde, I guess?

Dont really think it was so much an SEC vs UK during the basketball run last year as much as it was UK vs EARTH, and the rest of the SEC was more apathetic on the heels of being completely scorched by that UK team.

I dont think you had to pull for Alabama last night bc they were an SEC team, you had to pull for them bc they were playing an ACC team thats apparently joined at the hip with UL per UL media. And that slurpfest couldnt have been more annoying. If it were Alabama vs Oregon or USC or Oklahoma... have at it. But you have to hold serve if the outcome will in any way hurt the feelings of anyone associated with the University of Louisville.

Trying to remember the time Jen Palumbo high-fived Ashley Judd something vicious when she got so fired up. Think it might've been during the UK-Louisville Final Four game. The one time she looked mean.

If you want to see how SEC fans feel about UK basketball check out the SEC Rant.

Spoiler: They hate us and loathe Cal.

There's no one rooting for us in the tournament, for the good of the SEC, at Alabama, LSU, Georgia, etc.

I like watching history be made and every time Bama wins we get to see it build. Saban is a legit GOAT candidate and he's still going strong, appreciate excellence.
Plus it rewards a population that lives and dies for this. It's not like USC who if they don't win gets to go home to southern Cal and all that entails. Jimmy in Haleyville NEEDS this to make it through another year of refrigerator repair out of the back of his old Datsun. It's why Ky fans relate well with them. There is a tangible influence on the psyche of a large part of the population directly tied to the success of their team. It's not healthy, but it's understandable.

Go back to the famous black hat post about UK when Cal showed up.... outside of our fan base- everyone is out to get them. Mostly bc of ignorance and the national media stance against Cal I guess-I dont remember it always being like this. But if there is an expectation that in March/April any other common fan is going to jump on board once their home team gets knocked out- its not going to happen. Not for SEC loyalty, state loyalty, etc. Whether we are an 8 seed or a 1 seed, everyone else will always pull for the opposing squad.

Yea it's fine, but understand that I have zero obligation to pull for their precious football teams each fall.

Agree, however, about not pulling for Clemson due to their newfound BROTHERHOOD with #L1C4. Hadn't fully considered that angle yesterday. I mean, when these two play each other the fans tear up when describing how nice they are to each other. It's equally pathetic and disgusting.

As a UK grad/fan with a South Carolina Gamecock spirit animal, they make me sick.

I don't understand why this is so hard. The SEC being dominant absolutely helps our recruiting. Come play early in the SEC has been our recruiting pitch. But mainly it pisses off most of the other rivals we hate, specifically UL. I don't cheer for the team as much as pissing the other fans off.

I don't give a **** if they root for us or not, not going to stop me for pulling for an SEC team just because they don't pull for us. We are Kentucky, surely you are used to the hate by now, from wherever it may come. But the original point is we aren't face painting ourselves or waiving pom poms for Bama on our couches or going to a bar and screaming, we casually pull for them because of conference affiliation.

Thank God for that! Otherwise we'd have a below mediocre underachieving trainwreck of a football program.

This is not accurate. UofL has been in sucky *** conferences time and time again - C-USA, the Big East. the American Athletic or WTF-ever. They never rooted for anyone (other than UConn against UK in basketball), and openly mocked UK fans for cheering for SEC teams. Now they are all in on the ACC.

I've always rooted for the other SEC teams. I want the conference basketball teams to actually not embarrass themselves, to add a bit more credibility to our conference wins. And America HATES SEC football and its dominance, so it makes it more fun to watch those teams win. It doesn't impact by life if Michigan or Ohio State wins or loses vs an SEC team, but if Kentucky isn't playing and I need to root for someone in game, I'll pick the SEC team.
