The best MLB teams have not consistently won the championship in a long, long time.

Being on a roll in October is half the battle.

Truth of the matter is, it came WAAAAAY too easy during the regular season for some of these teams. A friend texted me during the game and said ATL isn't feasting off pitchers like Luke F. Weaver anymore. They relied so heavily on the long ball all year.

I am a bit jealous though that Castellanos turns into an all-out assassin against the Braves 3 years too late.
Sure but the Reds were 32-12 at one point in 1990. And then played .500 ball the remaining 75% of the year as they ended 20 games over .500. But they still won their division and it didn't hurt them in October. Turning MLB into the NCAA Tourney is not a win. It's a blatant money grab and hurts the overall quality of the game.

The Cardinals went 83-78 in 2006 and won the WS.

The Twins won 85 in 1987 and won the WS.

Yankees won 87 in 2000 and won their 3rd straight WS.

This is nothing new.

Braves 88-73 in 2021.

Braves this postseason had no plate discipline. Kept trying for the long ball. Didn't try to put the ball in play from off speed pitches.

Phillies had a great rotation for the Braves. 2 games got them seeing Suarez throwing that ridiculous curve and never got right after. Everything lined up for the Phillies and the match ups they wanted.

All that aside, the Braves were humiliated in gm 3 and responded like pussies. Strider got no help. 2 mistakes on the slider but ffs, that's nothing if you're a legit murderers row offense.

Kind of a weird time as a UK fan-

While I really like our roster, there’s been enough talk the past few years about the basketball team. All that matters is winning. People are fed up.

Meanwhile, with the football team, we’re pretty sure we’re good but we’ve seen these hot starts against mediocre teams turn out to be mirages before.

Good thing Saturday night should tell us a lot about the football team. May be waiting until February with basketball.

Sitting out on our resort patio this morning overlooking the floors below that each have their own mini swimming pool outside their patio. In one of the pools is a 4-5ft gator just lounging in the water.

Went down for breakfast and flagged down a maintenance worker who responded with a “haha, yea right.” One min later, I heard him say “holy ****, dude wasn’t joking”.

-Nice relaxing staycation this week and another one next month. Just some fishing, boozing, toking, and a few house projects.

-Paint is peeling off already on my F150 it’s just four yrs old. Guess it’s back to Chevy or Toyota next truck.

-That was an awesome finish last night WVU/Hou but brutal loss for Neal Brown. Dude just can’t seem to get over the hump there.

-At this point I would guess Fox is probably just hoping for a WS rematch of last year Astros/Phillies. The battle of Texas should be a hell of a series.

-Hopefully the football Cats have unfvcked themselves on defense this week in practice. Mizzou can toss it around as well as anyone.

So apparently Therio has a bum ankle now? Good grief

Yup. I'm in wait-and-see mode. Not gonna believe anything including my own eyes until December or January at the earliest. Show me. Glad Cal seems to get that no one wants to hear him right now. Not getting sucked in again until I see something that matters.

I’d me more encouraged if he came out “you know what? Turns out DJ is a real dick. The rest of these guys seem to be chips off the ol’ ******* block, too.” Maybe see how that plays out for once?

“Rob took one bite of Mrs. Cal’s birthday brownies and spit it back in her face. He’s a complete psycho.”

^ Hmm, now you have my attention, Cal.

Folks, I tried calling Zvonimir "BIG Z" and he slapped what must have been 17 inches of Croatian dong on my mahogany desk and said "Mr. Calipari, *this* is big -- the Z is not. You will call me 'Zvonimir' or you will call me nothing!" Frankly, I'm alarmed. Please avoid him on campus until we get a report back from our team psychologist.

One of the support staff at my office referred to one of the partners as Big D in an email 2.5 years ago and I still haven't fully recovered from that.

Calling a barely-adult Big Z makes me uncomfy
