-there was some talk here recently about night clubs in Lebanon back in the 60s. My parents attended some shows there and have some newspaper clippings. My mom was just talking about seeing Little Richard there.

Tina Turner, Little Richard, James Brown, BB King, Otis Redding, The Supremes, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, and many others played there. The club owner said he booked most of them at $250 for the night.

Ranking of top 5 idiotic types of protesting:

1. Hunger strikes: it amazes me that anyone would care if someone went on a hunger strike. It seems like the most childish form of protest. My son used to do this when we served lima beans. But apparently Gandhi and Al Sharpton have done this as well - yet people actually took them seriously.
2. Blocking traffic: My family could be falsely imprisoned but if somebody blocks a highway to protest their cause and it causes me to be late, I'd likely take the government's side on it. Just seems like a way to piss people off.
3. Pouring paint on art work in museums: Similar to the blocking traffic, just a dick move.
4. Interrupting a sporting event: the audience who attends games doesn't give af about your cause so you're just going to make people mad at you.
5. Catching yourself of fire: I'd argue this one is just the hunger strike to the extreme. It's kind of bad ***, but too high risk low reward to be effective. Plus, you'll likely never know if it worked or not because you'll be dead.

Advancing through the ranks, my son was invited to participate in the Taekwondo demonstration squad. He’s doing his JCVD splits and all this crazy stuff as a newly minted 10yo. If anything, he’s doing real exercise, learning respect and kicking ***. Highly recommend.

* Credit where due, UofL's helmet game was strong last night. Imagine if UK was willing to do some things like that, break out the Cat roaring over the UK logo or the leaping Cat logo from the 70s.

* Bengals had to pay Burrow, but it really gets hard for them moving forward. They need to win a Super Bowl this year or next year with the surrounding talent that will soon be departing. I watched the Steelers go through it with Rothliesberger, and the Chiefs looked like hot garbage with Kelce out last night. The only way to survive the bajillion $$$ QB deal is to hit the lottery on almost all your draft picks. No room for error.

* I've had two days that are hard to explain when it comes to customer service at big-box stores and restaurants. Tried to buy something at two different stores, and could not find a soul to help me give them my money. Bizarrely, also spent 30 min in Chick Fil A drive-thru this week. Got handed the wrong order twice and still arrived home with the wrong order, but in typical CFA fashion, they apologized profusely and gave me gift cards for three future visits. MrsJDrum says the Universe (or my cardiologist) was trying to send me a message.

I was impressed that the defense held up relatively well without Jones. They have drafted well on that side of the ball. But the O-Line was shaky (despite that one tackle lining up illegally every play and starting too soon), and they don't have a WR who can consistently get open and pose a downfield threat. I'm sure Reid will eventually figure some things out. Not writing them off, but if they don't get homefield again, it's gonna be difficult to get back to the Super Bowl in a loaded AFC.

- The Harrodsburg Road CFA is the best. Partial, because the oldest worked there before leaving for college, but it's always the most efficient and accurate. Nich Road struggles because of sheer volume, and the new one out towards Ramsey's is hit-or-miss.

- Trilly Donovan coming right out and saying that Drew and Mitch are tight, and that Drew is tops on the list of Cal replacements is...something. Not that we didn't already suspect as much, but I hadn't seen it put out there so bluntly.

- A slow Friday night of CFB should make for some interesting MLB playoff race viewing. Fun to see so many teams still with something to play for. Not a Reds fan, but would much rather see that fanbase rewarded for its patience than the Marlins, where the fans barely even notice what's going on.

- Speaking of fans who aren't checked-in, what in the world is keeping Orioles fans away from games?
