This MGM hack is wild.
My boss and 2 co-workers are out there staying at Aria/Bellagio for the Toyota National Dealer Meeting being held at Mandalay Bay. All MGM properties. I'm sure the stories will be something when they get back.

To be fair to both sides, the Reds haven’t been setting the world on fire since the All-Star break. But yes, they are still in contention.
Yes, let's be fair to UKO, Waterhead. How many chromosomes do you have?

* UK released details about Madness. I'll take Kanter's Undertaker walk slightly above the John Wall dance as the greatest BBM moment of the Calipari Era.

* Arachnophobia was absolutely terrifying to an 8 year old Hank. Still haunts me when I see a spider, tbh.

* Joe Moorhead still looks like Mr. Mackey.

(As a third-party uninvolved observer)

To be fair, all this beleaguered fanbase wanted was to enjoy the ride of a summer pennant race…that’s all. Without having to deal with a complete psychopath spamming Twitter and GYERO as to how many strikeouts a rising star has and impending doom.

You need the Benriner No. 64 Japanese Mandolin off Amazon. It is $34, razor sharp, and fits in a drawer without taking up counter space.

I was silently judging rudd's ridiculous mandolin choice, tbh.

-those are nice...I've used. Perfectly fine for light work. I prefer one with a built-in stand if you're slicing a bunch of stuff, ie 4-5 lbs of russet potatoes or turnips for a gratin. Easier.

This is actually the one I use:

* After enjoying a postseason stretch run where my team was always in contention for close to a decade, then going the past 3 seasons without, makes one appreciate just being in the hunt. Night and day how enjoyable the sports summer is depending on how the ball club fares.

Of course you actually have to be a fan of a team and not just some borderline mental patient psycho loon to grasp that concept.

* 25.5 point spread... Not one to bet on / against my team, but I can't think of the last time a Stoops team covered a number of that size, regardless of opponent?

* Once you exclude the price of housing, cars, gasoline, electricity, and food, noted NYT's economist wonders why you dummies don't realize we've actually defeated inflation.

* Likewise, a laughable demand of 46% pay increase, 4 day work week and reinstitution of pensions or we strike is just asking for a major economic setback.

* On a more positive note, couldn't ask for better football weather tomorrow. Coupled with the first night game and I expect The Faithful to be on full tilt, Wi-Fi inaccessibility be damned.

* Over the years there have been some interesting themes at the Extrav, but tomorrow's bougie setup may the quintessential sign-of-the-times. Should be a hoot!

* The Black Crowes - Could I've Been So Blind
* Cheap Trick - Surrender
* Bowie - China Girl
* Warren G - And You Know That
* The Bangles - Hazy Shade of Winter

Lap dances still $20? They were $20 when I was in college and I've heard that's still the case. So lap dance inflation is 0 and has been for 25 years. And that's what's important. An economic miracle!

Football Friday Obs:

- September is consistently the best weather months in the Bluegrass. The sunsets are also the best during this stretch as well. The Commonwealth is showing off for us right now and I, for one, appreciate it.

- Thinking about signing up for a 10K - looked at last year's results in this same race and I would maybe place 6 or 7 for my age group. Sub 8:00 mile pace for 6 miles is strong for a late 40s individual. I'm not quite there yet for that distance. May wait and run next year.

- Did place 2nd in my age group in a 5K Labor Day Weekend. 23:40 for that hilly course was about as good as I could do. 9th overall. Small town race. Local field.

- Smoking some wings tomorrow. Need a new wing sauce to toss them in. Open to some suggestions.

- First home football game for the ol' high school club tonight. Newly renovated field with turf. Perfect weather. Faculty tailgate. I have no experience to make this claim, but I'm assuming the tailgates for a public school are quite different than the tailgates at a private Catholic school?

- Speaking of football, I'm a little concerned about the my alma-mater's squad. I have no real tactical knowledge with football like I pretend to have with basketball. But it appears to the layman's eye that the o-line still isn't getting much push in the run game. Also, taking the full play clock to get a snap off is frustrating. Know why we're near the top at that points per play list? Because it takes us 27 seconds to get a play off.

- I made the comment on Twit (ERRRR) X last week that we are becoming the Iowa of the SEC. That sounds like an insult, but it's not meant to be. I think we have a tough, Blue Collar culture. I think we are respected. We hit people. We'll have respectable years. But damn it, we are more vanilla than a pup cup from Sonic.

- Sometimes I'll walk around the house singing Charlie Robinson's, "You're not the Best" at the top of my lungs just to piss off my wife. Hate that he's gone.

- Is it time for the Octoberfest's yet? I feel like it is.

Figured as soon as I pondered that, we’d have done so recently. Whatever, just get the ‘W’ but larger point, if you’re into the dark arts of gambol, seems we aren’t a covering team.

- Considering the wienerdogs are racing on Fountain Square as we speak and the largest Oktoberfest this side of Germany is taking place this weekend, PROST, my friend!

- Is it just me or are Stoops’ Cats always underwhelming the first couple games?

- October is my personal favorite but yes, September and May are the most universally appealing months here.

- This time of year makes me miss the Midpoint Music Festival in OTR.

- Bonzo bitches when the numbers are bad, bitches when the numbers are better, predicts recession for two years, bitches when there’s no recession. You’re a broken record, hoss.

-Weather has been AMAZING. Was in Michigan the last two days and was great there too although I’m not ready to wake up to 47 degrees again for a bit, that was chilly.

-Speaking of Michigan, why was I there? 🤔 Let me give everyone a word to the wise. If you are a “hoarder” or have storage units full of things YOU think maybe be needed in the future or think your kids may want…well they don’t and don’t have storage units that you’re too old to clean out yourself.

Dad had a HUGE storage unit in Michigan(where he lived with his last/current/who cares wife) and my uncle and I had to go up there and load a Uhaul SUPERMOVER 26’ truck made for 3+ bedroom house. It was packed to the top wall to wall.

Then we had to drive it from midland, MI although way through Ohio to West Virginia, unload the whole thing in the dark, then drop the Uhaul off before driving to Lexington to get home. That TOUCHING sucked.

Anyway, anything in a storage unit is likely garbage. I wanted to throw 99% away and just get a dumpster but uncle wanted to go through it all. Have at it bud.

That’s the 3rd family storage until I’ve had to clear out. Throw your stuff out if you haven’t used it in years, this isn’t the Great Depression.

-Michigan is pretty but lord I have no idea what people do there for fun unless you just like hiking flat woods every day.

Everyone was damn friendly though, will say that.

-Second night there, 63 yr old uncle hit his limit at a college bar and started hollering at 20 year olds and I was like check please! Made it out before he went too far though.

**-Any extras would be greatly appreciated for this weekend, happy to pay.**

It feels like we don't cover much, but that's because we have higher expectations than Vegas. Remember how UL is somehow always favored against the Cats, only to get smacked? Stoops is 62-64 ATS overall, but started out terrible. Well above .500 the last 5 years.

First 5 years - 24-36 ATS
Since - 38-28 ATS

His overall record ATS puts him 9th among active SEC coaches, but his record the last 5 years would put him third, behind only Sam Pittman and Josh Heupel (two coaches who haven't even been around for 5 years), and just in front of Kirby Smart.

First 5 years

Don't feel bad, our 8yo ran a 22:17 in his first 5k last week. Good for 3rd. I try to keep him grounded in the sports I can still bully him.

-strokin...the outside zone run scheme doesn't use the traditional "road grader" type of blocking we've used in past groud attack...create space and let yer back pick a hole.

-my knife skills are suspect. A little out of practice...rustic, if you will.

-bad tennis last night, may need to get a new racquet...as I may have cracked my trusty sx300. Idiot.

-wages aren't keeping up with inflation, it's historically bad rn...but it's been a long time coming. The current folks didn't cause all of the issues...but the policy definitely ain't helping.

^related note...we've been drunk on free/cheap money for so long, current rates which aren't historically terrible seem punitive....8.5 is too high, 3 is too low. Love to see it settle betwixt 5-6. That would be healthy.

Do tell. Nanny for all the rug rats? Everyone shows up in their souped up golf carts? Upside down pineapples?
We gots to know!

Storage Unit racquet intrigues me. These seem like licenses to print money. Anyone hold an interest in these?

Cooler weather, stogies, bourbon and football. Go.

The wiener dog race is my official harbinger of the autumn season.

Speaking of weiner dogs, I couldn’t find mine the other night. I asked one of my boys if he had seen him, and he very nonchalantly said yeah, he’s gnawing on a deer carcass down by the woods. Great.

I walk down to the woods, and sure enough, the little 12 pound guy was giving this rotting carcass hell, along with a few vultures. He paid the vultures no mind, nor did the vultures him. Just a bunch of sick bastards feasting on rotting flesh.

Emperor Kaiser von Duffy will also be 15 in three weeks. Hell of a dog.

Ha, an adult topic is mentioned and wcc loses his mind while exposing he's oblivious to what's going on in the real world. You're a broken record, hoss.

But I'm sure with your background in [checks notes] PR you can enlighten someone who does this for a living on how we weren't in a recession, inflation has no bearing on the price of goods & services, wages haven't flattened or the fact that the average American household is at an all-time high in debt is NBD and to be celebrated.

-Funniest part to me about the storage unit was my dad had apparently packed an model three apple monitor up at least 5x over the last 30+ years to take 🤷‍♂️ . I was laughing about why someone would ever do that.

But I decided to put it on FB marketplace and within the day I had 15 offers at or over the $100 I put it on there for. Apple fanboys are weird.

Storage units are a racket. I think boomers and their parents are to blame as so many grew up poor or want to save their family “antiques” or literally ANYTHING they ever owned, but they like them so much they put them in a warehouse never to actually see them or use them.

My dad had probably 60 yr old stained couches that he kept because they’re his gmas. Cool…kids these days aren’t going to old gross cobwebbed furniture.

I think you’ll see lots of storage units go under in the next 20 years. Probably be turned into an axe throwing hipster bar.
