-Anchorage has a very weird vibe... unsettling.

-9 pm tennis matches are for the birds... won 2&2, showered and in bed by 11, still didn't fall asleep til after midnight.

^coupled with Tuesday night late game... I'm dragging ***. They say you need less sleep as you age... that is not my truth.

You just haven’t aged enough.

Eh as far as comparing him to white players, it’s just too easy to tell he shouldn’t even be in a conversation with JP Blevins or Josh Carrier.

That was nonsense, and I was trying to think of a KY boy that led us to some real wins. Epps was the guy and was tough as nails, as is Sheppard.

- I feel like Edwards isn’t scoring and is very loose with the ball at this point but he does everything else well. For a kid that has struggled he sure is head strong and not getting down.

- Wagner I just don’t get. It’s clear he belongs and is better than he has played. I truly think if he was playing with Sheppard or Dillingham and played off the ball more it would click.

Wagner is a bull going to the rim and we haven’t capitalized on it yet.

- felt like Pitino’s Bambino’s out there tonight.

I didn’t compare Sheppard to those guys either. I will admit that he has been considerably better than I expected him to be this early on. The kid is already better than his dad at this age and almost as good as his mom.

I don’t know who made those comparisons and don’t care I just am saying my peace on the Epps comparison.

I won’t go so far as to say he is better but he has a better understanding of the the game, court space, and letting the game come to him.

We got the crossed legged dunk off one leg, but I need to see some curls off those down screens!

I thought their favorite flavor was “dipped in ranch.”
Pretty sure southern and Midwestern college gals have the “ranch for everything” requests on lock.

-Glad we looked good and I saw zero mins again besides the 35 second clip on Inside College Basketball this morning.

-Will be in WV with the family Friday for the Marshall/UK game. Will be fun as everyone in the family has a degree from one of the other if not both.

Took my daughter to her first game last night (she’s 5), and there was some high quality entertainment listening to her. Really makes going to the scrub games more fun taking her. I guess this is why we had a kid??

Some highlights:

How did they train those people to hold those cheerleaders up?

What’s that dogs name? (Scratch)

I like being in the middle because I get both the arms. (Armrests)

I need some pizza now. I’m super duper hungry.

I wish we were sitting at the top so I could see EVERYTHING

Why is it “go igloo”? (Go big blue)

I remember when I took my daughter to her first game at age 5. 10 minutes in: dad, can we go home now?

I think she maybe watched 30 seconds of actual basketball but she was entertained by the cheerleaders, ice cream, and pizza.

She also cried when we tried to leave with 2:00 left, but it turned out after talking to her she was scared of the sirens on an ambulance going by, so I had my hopes up for nothing that she would want to go back as much as possible.

I’ll throw out a comparison for Reed: Steph Curry. I saw Steph play in high school and there’s no way you would have thought he’d ever make the NBA. He just didn’t have the athleticism.

While Steph quickly became a deadeye shooter in college, to me the thing that separates him from everybody else is his footwork. He has these efficient cuts and fakes that gave him space for his shot or got him to the basket for a layup. Reed seems to have similar skills.

Not saying Reed is going to be one of the best 10 players of all time, but he has a skill set that definitely makes him an extremely valuable player.

Double-edged sword with Reed. If he ends up 1st Round/Lotto we had a helluva season and we don’t get him back.

He doesn’t make that jump we get him for another year or two but either we didn’t have a good year or DJ or Dillingham stepped up and became consistent.

The kid is one of the best players I have ever seen this early. Add on that he is unselfish and he’s the total f’n package.

He was +41 tonight.
Call me a boomer, or behind in the times, but what exactly is the algorithm/calculation that comes up with those +/- numbers?
TIA

If you enter the game and it’s 8-0 Kansas and you come out and it’s 16-10 UK, you’re plus 14. Meanwhile, the dickhead you replaced is -8. You add this throughout the game. Get it?

After watching the replay, it’s obvious.

Reed/Dilly > DJ/Edwards.

Reed, Dilly, Reeves, Theiro, Mitchell.

Coming in off the bench wouldn’t hurt DJs or Edwards draft stock as much as losing your starting job because your coach is forced to bench you. Go ahead and take the growing pains now, and be better come March. Coming off the bench didn’t seem to hurt Lyles or Bookers draft stock.

Since Reeves can play the 2 or 3 in this situation, the Reed/Dilly/Reeves lineup can play the 5 out very well. We are better defensively , with 3 guys that can light it up, with Mitchell to compliment.

Wagner and Edwards just aren’t there yet. Several freshman here have struggled early, it’s only game 4 btw, and were fine come January.

Derrick Rose at Memphis comes to mind with DJ. Was average through the non conference schedule, wasn’t hitting shots, talk of him being overrated, then he played himself into the top pick starting in January and never looked back.

This cake should be fun to watch bake. I’m not saying that he is DRose, but I’m excited to see him breakout, Edwards as well.

Back to lurking…

-Can we please not turn “Dilly” into a thing? It was already the stupidest thing when Bud Light was doing it and people would tell Dilly Dilly at each other across the bar.

I literally refused to grab a bud light unless they said I’ll have a bud light please.

Looking at me saying Dilly Dilly just got you no thing but a look of unfiltered disgust and abject loathing.

-Gym is done, some beach time for the pup and it’s college football and food the rest of the day!

Dilly and Shep are doing great together, so my point might be stupid, but I like Dilly coming off the bench as a high energy guy with big-time scoring ability. Dilly is not the most solid defensive player - he kind of reminds me of a classic no conscience NBA 6th man.
Of course you do. Start your best players. Or end up in an 11-3 hole 4 mins in every game.

Just sit the rest of the season out

I have zero problem with Dilly off the bench for now. He’s thriving. Instant energy, and playing when it matters.

Let DJ figure it out. People acting like he’s just wasted after 3 games are lol. He’s excelled vs the top competition his whole career, it’s what he’s known for. He’s pressing & also seeing his 2 mates come out blazing is obviously making it worse.

Most of our elite PGs have struggled early…and you can guarantee it’s gonna happen for Rob, too.

Sheppard, however, must start & lead the guards in minutes. Give him the keys.
