I think ultimately the takeaway from StoopsTAMUGate is how much importance Stoops places on NIL. Other than the gargantuan NIL money, there isn't really a reason to leave Kentucky for TAMU. That he was willing to try to take his entire staff to a place just to get bigger purse strings on the recruiting budget speaks volumes.

If it was a shot across the bow to Barnhart to get that sorted out, well done. To be fair, Barnhart has seemed to get on board with NIL after initial fuddy-duddyness.

Even if Stoops ultimately decided he wanted to stay in Lexington, nothing leads me to believe he "chose" UK over aTm. Feels a lot like the choice was made for him.

Why do you need him to choose UK over A&M?

Today in all honesty he should be the head coach there and he isn’t. They are a better job than UK, period, but he is still here for now.

Think we need to add Eric Crawford in there somewhere, @Wildcat Willy

He deserves it after this **** piece of propaganda. Dude got lit up over the weekend for his HOT takes on the X machine.

lol

The pain is real. I listened to my friend Mark Ennis on his 93.9 FM postgame show after the Louisville loss, and his first caller, a man named Lawrence, said, “This loss is going to hurt me till the day I die.”

I just want to see some position coach upgrades.

We lost DUDES like Clink and Sumrall, and still haven’t replaced them. It’s embarrassing.

Not saying it isn't deserved, but I can't recall national media outright mocking/enjoying a coach's complete failure as they have & do every game with KP.

*exceptions being coaches fired with cause, or demonstrating questionable or downright bad behavior. Obviously the typical sports journo loves nothing more than virtue dancing, but this isn't that.

-Bradshaw is supposed to be back for Penn. Guess we'll see, but unless something silly happens (clearly possible), at this point he's gonna be a part of this team for 85% of the season, and I'll take it.

But rolleyes at anyone who thought he'd play Miami, gimme a break. Dude has practiced 2-3 days, no coach in America is putting a guy in the lineup in that situation, especially vs a Top 10 team. 🙄

Matt Jones said on KSR today that we don't have any good on ball defenders but Reed and Edwards are decent off the ball. Is he totally clueless? Reed, Rob, and DJ are better on the ball because they have quick hands and for the most part can stay in front of their man. They do need to do better getting through screens and talking on switches. The one thing he keeps saying they are good at, off the ball defense, is where they are terrible because most of them ball watch and lose their man. We give up so many open shots because they lose their man watching the ball. With that said I would rather break that bad habit as try to teach a guy who is terrible on defense to play it.

If you loose Stoops, you lose Marrow. Wherever Stoops goes, they will be a package deal.

But wait people swear Marrow was almost out of here leaving Stoops behind.

Which I personally do not believe regardless if it was used to get him more money or not.

And I believe you are 100% right so I think Marrow is the no in the locker room that matters.

I'm think you missed the point.

Intentionally, because the point isn’t relevant here. People like to say cute things and compare this to a marriage, it’s not.

It’s 100% business and people talk all the time and everyone of us would take a better job if it’s presented. I’m also quite confident we’ve all been offered jobs that present a better situation and passed for any number of reasons or been passed on for a possible better overall fit.

Stoops is still great for UK, and we are still damn lucky to have him.

Look man, if you’re listening to KSR for the actual sports analysis, I don’t know what to tell you.

We listen for the humble brags and the half completed brackets.

Sorry, but Matt's version of the story just now on KSR seems highly implausible. Just too much spin to be believable.

I'm not buying the narrative that "Mark indicated he was interested enough in the offer for the aTm AD to seek BoT approval on Sunday, but he didn't really accept the job."

Seems far more likely that Stoops was all-in and ready to leave until:
  1. He learned that any number of Marrow, Coen, and White weren't down with a move to College Station;
  2. He saw the vitriolic response from aTm fans; and
  3. He caught wind that the offer may not be approved by the aTm BoT.
Even if Stoops ultimately decided he wanted to stay in Lexington, nothing leads me to believe he "chose" UK over aTm. Feels a lot like the choice was made for him.
I think you are focusing on semantics. I think he was very interested in the job and probably takes it if the issues 1-3 aren’t in play. But he didn’t accept it. Whether he would have, only he probably knows, but as I stated later in the show (and you left out), I do believe it is potentially a different outcome if those weren’t in place

The A&M people are also now saying he didn’t take the job. I legitimately don’t think he did. But your guess that he would have if not for those factors is perfectly reasonable and not any different than what I said

Matt, was Marrow one of the two people currently on staff who would have been considered for the job if Stoops left? Presumably White would be number one but the second could be either Vince or Coen.

Not what I said. I said Edwards is decent on the ball and Reed is very good off of it. Wagner, Reeves and Dillingham can’t stay in front of anyone

We give up a ton of points bc we aren’t able to stop penetration, have no rim protecter and ball watch. It’s ok to me though bc we can score in bunches. So I am good with it

But no one on this team is a good on ball defender except Adou and sometimes Edwards. Reed is great at getting steals off ball and does have insanely quick hands

My guess is that the job would have gone to Sumrall or Coen with Vince becoming the highest paid assistant in the country. I think White goes with Stoops

That’s a guess, but an educated one

You could argue that Vince has been way more important to UK football than anyone else in the history of the program.

I do not understand your take here.
My take is Vince is a cool dude and people naturally want to be around him but it's not an act, he's like that to everyone. That's why he so good at recruiting and player relationships.

You all think he's paid that much for his Tight End schemes?

Sumrall w/ Coen and Vince sounds like a best case scenario for the post-Stoops era. I'm not a Stoops hater (outside of in-game redass, of course) but I kinda wish it had happened. Next year might be better with Stoops here, but we're going to have to hire the next coach and staff at some point.

Yeah I think he sucks and is overrated it’s why I said this 2 days ago.
I’m more upset losing Vince than Stoops I think.
Not my fault your dense *** can’t comprehend that people could mean something other than how you interpret it.

18-24 in the SEC the last 5 yrs. Take your Vince-bs overrated recruiting pipelines elsewhere, and Stoops can go too. Keep accepting mediocrity and you will eventually see that as some sort of achievement, which many do.

Stoops was going to A&M was as likely as him taking over head chef at Cut.

Oh....that 18-24 gets worse next year, so enjoy.

After 50 years, the local health department apparently not good enough anymore for our local schools. I’m not saying I’m an expert in the health field. I just found it interesting. Maybe more details will be given at board meeting.
Does not getting enough attention in your own thread specifically designed for this?

I mean, aren’t you ALWAYS “going to have to hire the next coach and staff at some point”?

With that logic just hire a new coach every year because “you’re going to have to hire them at some point.”
