In recent years I've grown increasingly fond of James Brown's Christmas music. Please Come Home For Christmas, Merry Christmas Baby, Soulful Christmas...

Welp, at least someone posted the snackdown or was this Newsome’s menu?

Edit, second look, that was just 80 Proof’s order, granted they were small portions.
It was the chef's tasting menu. We all had it, they put the official logo of the Wodie Crew Executive Conference on the menu for us in honor of our achievements. We were in the same room Newsome got busted in after he shut everything down.

Did I miss the WHAM!? Some trumped up Taylor Swift version of Last Christmas came on and just took the air right out of the room earlier. Not good!

We are hitting the WR room early in the portal. Hoping our knuckleheads stay around, they both earned some respect back vs Louisville. Maybe Jordan Brown-Smith or whatever his name is can learn how to catch this off-season too.

Love Saturday afternoon tips, but isn't this the second year in a row we've been opposite the SEC championship?

Any of the crooners, Sinatra, Martin, Como, Crosby, Torme are always must listening.

Iconic is Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" and Charlie Brown Christmas album.

Choral division "Carol of the Bells" and "O'Holy Night" are 1 and 1a.

1960's and beyond Darlene Love's "Baby Please Come Home" and Beach Boys "We Three Kings" are superb. I like the Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping".

Worst are the usual suspects. McCartney's " Wonderful Christmastime " and Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" are terrible . Mariah is fine, it's just overplayed. "Christmas Shoes" is so bad it's good

Another song I hate, I don't know that I have heard played on the radio but there is a song out there called "Mary Do You Know" that is a staple of every small town school choir and every Protestant Christmas program I have ever been roped into going to. It's always delivered by a soloist who combines grave.solemnity with a wannabe Celine Dion and it always comes out like a failed American Idol audition.
You hate this?

- Pardon me if I’m a little loose with my posts this evening, as I am slightly drunk.

- Dinner tonight at Salazar- for those not Cincinnati-literate, one of the best trendy boutique restaurants in town. Was terrific. Went with the chicken schnitzel. Disappointed in the beer/bourbon selection but otherwise outstanding.

- Dadding is great but I get jealous of the dinks and bachelors quite often. At the point in my life where we can splurge and enjoy regular evenings of good meals and drink. Rarely get to do it. Miss the days of fun nights out with my wife. That said, the entire dinner I’m excited to get back home to see my little girl.

- Big late November/early December guy, Flipping back and forth between UW-Oregon and Kansas-UConn is awesome.

- In my bourbon hound history, I have found two sure-thing “bargains” that I will pop on every occasion- Buffalo Trace picks and Four Roses Barrel Strength picks.

- Five years ago tonight, I saw Tyler Childers at Southgate Revival, a short walk from my house in the East Row in Newport. Great venue. $20 tickets. $3 High Lifes. Light crowd. Was 10-feet away the entire show.

- Duke’s F’d. Can’t play Flip/Mitchell together on offense. Can’t play Flip/Power together on D. Not to mention their guards are softbois.

- Meanwhile, while I think Hubert is in over his head, Ingram and Cadeau are ballplayers. Like the makeup of their squad.

- Bama lost comfortably to Texas in Bear’s house. I don’t GAF what they do tomorrow- they don’t belong in over the Longhorns. Of course, that didn’t stop Notre Dame from getting F’d in 1993.

- I like a good half drunk dad time Die Hard viewing during Christmas time.

- With all the ingrained obstacles- mostly officiating- still can’t believe we stomped Kansas there in 2022.

- How is Louisville still #14? They’re legit 10-11 in the SEC. Clown rank bro.

I don't think it's that cut and dry. Texas's only good win this year was against Bama and it was early in the season. Bama has beaten LSU and Ole Miss, and if they beat Georgia I think they have a real case. To me, Texas would need to whip OK State's *** to feel safe.

That said, I don't think Bama has a chance in hell to beat Georgia.

Pretty cut and dry to me. Actual ballgames need to retain meaning.

Last minute decision to grab Volare tonight and nothing pisses me off more than not planning nice meals.

Well I tag along, of course, being a ***** for the most part. Run into a few folks we know, order cocktails for the wait, and as the manager(name escapes me but he is there every time we go) talks to us I kindly mention last second no reservations so no rush. Dude immediately sits us at a 2top in the bar area.

We ask for the football game which as the bartender starts to change the TV multiple tables groan……..as I start to get feedback I realize they’re all watching St John’s because of Ricky P. Cool Nevermind, whatever I get it and honestly forgot he was even there.

Order more drinks, apps and dinner. Nice musician tonight reminding me of Nat King Cole.

Just a treat of a night honestly. Learned about I new Moscato called Placido. Was a fantastic glass and I’m not a win-o at all.

Saw where Salazar is closing soon. Hope you enjoyed, wcc. Downtown Cincinnati is crime ridden and horrific. I try not to leave the friendly confines of Mecca, ie, the 41075.

The three best holiday songs, and this is not debatable:

- Hark the Herald Angels Sing

- Oh Holy Night

- Auld Lang Syne

If you disagree, you’re a degenerate simpleton.

Right now we have 37,000 bowl games because the tv contracts for them were all executed prior to the days of NIL, opting out, free agency, etc. The next time these bowl tv deals are negotiated there will not be near enough money to go around and allow 41 bowl games. Probably as it should be. We’ll get back to the days, hopefully, of bowl games mattering and the ****** 6 and 7 win teams missing out on the postseason.

That bowl game of ours against Iowa last year was an utter abortion. Not because we shouldn’t have been in it as a 7-5 SEC team, but because of the opt outs. The current environment just sucks for the college football postseason.

I’m happy for the extra practices, but I can’t imagine this team of ours being too compelling on December 27. I’d like to see Sheron play the whole game, just to see what we have with him. I figure he will be the backup qb the next two years, why not.

Entire Elvis Christmas Album
Carol of the Bells....TSO
White Christmas...Bing

Pacers games have beat the over in 15 of 17 games so far.

Gray skies, wet/dirty leaves on the road, cars always need washed, dog paws all over the hardwood.....yep, just a great season. 90 degrees any day over this mess.

Basement reno....bourbon barrel bar/flooring/lights/big screen/paint all done. Pool table arrives Monday, then just fine tuning w/ the decor.

Reed is a surprise gem...thought he would play second fiddle behind the NBA picks, but the college game is made for him, especially w/ what he has between the ears. 2 yrs here and then see what happens. If he sprouts to 6'5, then Booker all over.

Homemade treats on the counter until Jan 1...
PB fudge
Oatmeal/Sugar cookies
Choc Chip cake

Stay safe, wet, hard, and enjoy.
First ever UKO post that didn’t suck ***. Props.

Our midnight masses always ended with a lovely candlelight choir rendition of “Dominic the Donkey” but I was raised more cultured than most.

You have to give me some credit- takes some balls to go against Alabama in this thread.

Ha... I'm not a Bama honk. I think this is an interesting conversation. But what happens if UGA loses? Do they still get in? How are they that much different than Texas? Provided both Texas and Bama win, here will be the situation:

Bama - Will have beaten three ranked teams including 1 in the top 5, and lost to a top 10 team.
Texas - Will have beaten two ranked teams including 1 in the top 5, and lost to a top 15 team.
Georgia - Will have beaten two ranked teams including 1 in the top 10, and lost to a top 10 team.

Arguably Bama has the best resume of the three. Texas's argument is that they beat Bama who beat Georgia. Georgia wouldn't have much of an argument at all as their schedule was pretty mid.

I think if Georgia loses, they’re out. Bama depends upon Florida State.

UGA’s argument is pretty simple, back to back champ that hasn’t lost in two years and if they lose in the SEC championship that shouldn’t cost them a shot to defend their title.

I also think BAMA wins and this becomes drama filled.

All for nothing because Washington is the best team this year.

I don’t care if FSU beats UL and UF or not. They aren’t even a top 10 team without Travis. They won a scrub *** conference. I would put Texas in wayyyy before FSU with an injured QB. A one lose Bama or UGA team deserves to be in over FSU as well.

Being a 1.5 point favorite over UL is all ya need to know.

Change is inevitable and its still the greatest sport in the world but it is a little sad its all coming together now with NIL, portal, 330 cbs, conference deaths, mcafee/thamel on my tv etc.

The expanded playoff is going to be great.

New York Voices' version of "I Wonder as I Wander" is the GOAT Christmas song for me. The Mel Torme' Christmas Album has been a staple since my childhood as well. So apparently my family was always into the Jews writing/singing Christmas songs thing, HK is on to something.

The August Burns Red Christmas album also rips. Carol of the Bells rules as a metal track, orchestral number a la Home Alone, or vocal version.
I Wonder as I Wander is also a good one.
