Not sure what to do right now. Feel certain this will happen again with us or someone else.

- How nonsensical is it having a national semifinal running until 1am ON THE DAY 99% of people return to work after the holidays? I watched the first quarter- daughter wakes me up crying at midnight, check the score and there are still 12 minutes left. Insanity.

- There are some exceptions but I’m for anyone playing these spoiled machines who just stack Top 3 recruiting classes for a decade straight. They get them for 3-5 years. Why wouldn’t they win big? F Bama. F Georgia. F Ohio State.

- There are legit some fans who would prefer we ignore on-field outcomes and just choose who we think is best for the playoff. Marcus welby choosing teams preseason. Some idiots on HOB arguing Georgia should have gotten in over Bama. lol ok

- Soooo much better rolling into January with a good basketball team.

It’s time for Shep to take Edwards’ spot in the starting lineup. Coming slow out the gate is going to bite us sooner than later.

Tuesdays always suck but when it falls on the first “real” work day in several weeks, it’s a real nut punch.

First few weeks of January are always fun bc it’s when I convince myself that THIS is the year I’m going to get my body back. Wife and I got a pelaton a few weeks back, and some free weights. Worked from home, got a quick lift in. Protein shake for lunch, verde chicken in the crockpot for dinner. I’m sure I’ll fail again, but it does feel good to eat clean for a few weeks.

I guess my algorithm told Facebook to show me reels of cave diving. All the videos come with the completely unnecessary warning “CAVING SHOULD ONLY BE DONE WITH A PROFESSIONAL GUIDE”. Like, you don’t need to post that to scare me off. 5 seconds of a video showing some libtard crawling through an opening the size of a basketball hoop, shoulder deep in black water is all I need to insure I’ll never step 100 yards within the mouth of a cave. Wtf is wrong w white people ??

Michigan-Washington is probably the right championship but it’s also the most boring from just a name standpoint. Penix is fun tho so I guess we’ve got that going for us.

Michigan v. Washington should be a great title game. While I like to tease commie pinko libtards like wcc, it is nice to see some new teams seize the opportunity. UDub is fun as hell, too. My only reservation in rooting for them is that they willingly enrolled Sahvir "Ellen" Calipari.

That's suspect.

* I've always heard that getting into the Ivy League is the hard part. After that, if you show up and pay your tuition, you're pretty much guaranteed a diploma. I think Matt Jones got into Harvard, so it can't be that hard. My brother got into Yale and he's a bit of a knucklehead, too.

* Jim Harbaugh looks like an aging lesbian. Go Huskies.

* We play our first true road game on January 6. Pretty amazing.

* I guess the unseasonably nice winter weather is gone. We are going to Florida in mid-February. I'm just going to be grinding away hoping for some sunlight and blackened grouper in a month and a half, I guess. January sucks.

Harbaugh and Crean, brothers-in-law, both look like Billy Jean King.

Ivy leagues need to fulfill their KY quota as well. Diversity and all. Brother-in-law was recruited, academically, by Cornell. Stayed home, went to school for free. Masters at UC. Ran several companies and had to take over one for a Harvard MBA guy who failed miserably. Guy was set to be called on the carpet, possibly fired, and landed another job, because Harvard MBA.

- Reed and Rob continually coming off the bench is what drives me insane about Cal. It's obvious he has "his guys." It's why Quickley didn't start right away. It's why Reeves didn't start until mid-year last year. It is what it is. The two best guards (based on stats AND draft ranking) are coming off the bench because our head coach is ALL IN on "his guys." I respect it and hate it at the same time.

- After 16 years of futility and questioning whether or not I should ever GAMBOL on anything, I am a Fantasy Football Champion. I'll spare the details, but I'm not real sure what to do now. Like, do I report that on taxes? What do I do with my hands? Does Venmo even work?

- I am officially too old to understand and relate to this generation. My sophomore daughter and 8th grade son got into a SPIRITED yelling match over the break because my son took an unsuspecting picture of my daughter watching TV on the couch, and he threatened to post it to his story. It was like trying to be the diplomat between two fighting Puerto Rican ladies. They were loud, angry, gesticulating furiously, and I had no idea what they were saying.

- I remember a friend of mine taking a picture of a turd his sister dropped in his bathroom toilet. She was trying to prank him, but he made it backfire. He secretly placed that picture in the family photo album to be discovered at some random nostalgic encounter. Times were simpler back then.

- I found myself rooting against Alabama and Michigan at the same time yesterday. Just laughing at the failures.

- Go Huskies! Penix is the left-handed Warren Moon. You know, because he's black and all. Also, I always liked Joel McHale.

I feel ya. I'm guessing the reason the semi's got bumped to January 1 instead of years past being on December 31 was to avoid the NFL conflict.

-50 here today getting me ready for KY I reckon, sunrise was beautiful though shew. Still got the flops on though.

-Never been a big morning bread person but a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese at the coffee shop is pretty damn good.

-Prob not supposed to be drinking coffee but I’ve switched to lattes which have very low caffeine comparatively and if I’m enjoying reading and want to stay longer I get a hot tea after.

-I for one am glad to see some different teams in the champ game for once. Idc about SEC SEC every damn year and as well all know they don’t cheer against us in bball so fuggem.

I can’t imagine watching the tourney every year back when UCLA owned college bball. What a miserable decade that must’ve been.

-The NFL is men’s soap opera revolving around a sport. The amount of time spent on the minutiae and subjects that have zero to do with actual football is astounding.

-Sheppard is averaging like 29 minutes a game behind only Reeves and Mitchell. Dillingham and Theiro would be the 2 that I want out there more than 23-24 mpg. Edwards time has been slowly going down. Cal is going to do his thing but I'm way more worried about his ability to get lost in weird line ups in the middle of a half, or who he finishes with, than who starts.

-Kids back in school. What a relief.

-The Sheppard and Reeves youth jerseys I ordered from that weird website finally came in. Late af, but they're not bad, other than being on last years checkboard nightmare. Sorry UK Marketing sucks, so no NIL for those 2 guys.

-Abercrombie & Fitch on the come up? Back to 1999.

-Couldn't care less about Iowa WBB but the TV clock and the actual game clock look out of sync. Light came on after the shot but the TV graphic was 0.0 for like a full second.

Edwards is going to start the rest of the season unless he's hurt or abruptly leaves the team, fwiw.

I don't really care as much about the starting lineups like I did in previous years mainly because we are playing so much faster and can make up ground so much more quickly with the amount of 3's , our 'spurtability', elite guard talent, etc..

Just need Cal to not forget about Thiero and have him AT LEAST maintain his 25mpg. He seems to be the forgotten dude -- but he's so important for this team.

- One thing that may come back to haunt is Mitchell's poor FT%. He's too good of a shooter to be sub-70%. He's clearly going to be on the floor late and is our only 'throw it to him' low post option so I can def see him make or breaking a few games on the road when Cal (you know it's going to happen) grinds out some dimly lit games where Robb does his 'taketh'.

- Tried one of @HUBER 'Thirteenth Colony' Double Oaked 2023 bottles on New Year's Eve. Holy **** that was good. Seems the secret is out and it's becoming insane on secondary - but damn. If you guys get a beat on a bottle anywhere near MSRP, snag it. Was blown away, tbh.

- Bought a zombie shooter game on the Switch heavily discounted while I was drunk one night that's called Dying Light and it's giving me nightmares. I am Legend/Walking Dead feel with the real world exploration of a Zelda BOTW. Intense and terrifying. Of course the 7 year old *has*to watch me play it (only during the day) under the blanket. Had to explain to her what most of the cuss words are in the English language now. Father of the Year!! LSAT has not been pleased.

I had the Thirteenth Colony DO in my shopping cart in a millisecond of its release on Seelbachs. By the time it took to hit purchase… it was gone.

Had all my credit deets pre-entered. Alas, the bots scooped them all up in less than 2 seconds.

Had a mostly great holiday and trip back to Kentucky. First time my daughter "sort of" knew what was going on.

We asked grandparents not to overdue with gifts for her and instead look into angel tree or other charities to give to- but each set of grandparents ultimately did both. Lots of Bluey related gifts which are currently a hit with her.

My mother let me know about 12 hours after we had spent an entire day with her that she was in urgent care and just got a positive covid test back... Knocked her out for a few days and kept her from being able to visit much after that. So far we've been able to avoid this round....

Another trip to Lexington where I reached out to Anth and he was "out of town." K. Not sure what its going to take to get some quality face time with him.

Did get to watch the Bowl game with some buds in Lexington, before checking out the basketball team again. The first home game after Christmas being a non-confernece game against a mid/lower tier opponent was actually fun... lots of kids who clearly got tickets to the game and a Reed Sheppard jersey for Christmas. Every time he did anything you could hear them all going wild.

NYE morning seems like a prime time to hit the interstate. Quickest we've ever made the trip and that was with a stop in Brentwood at a Waffle House.

Had to keep double checking the bottom line score when it was showing Liberty vs Oregon. Just amazing that Liberty was playing in that game. Christ. Also every time I see Liberty that picture of Hugh Freeze in the press box hospital bed comes to mind. Easily the funniest thing in sports since Old Beamer was snapped celebrating that 0-0 scoreline against Wake (i think).

Back to the grind for a few weeks.

* A lot of people are forgetting just how good the Cincinnati Reds are going to be this year. 2024 NL Champs.

Look at this infield.....

1b = Christian Encarnacion-Strand
2b = Matt McClain
SS = Elly de la Cruz
3b = Noelvi Marte
Util = Spencer Steer, Jeimer Candelario

* Went to Dallas for a quick 36-hour trip last weekend. Lass and I went to see the Turnkpike Troubadours at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, which is the biggest bar I've ever been to in my life. Just massive. Amazing show.

The morning after the show I head downstairs to wait on the lass, sit down in the very small hotel lobby, and there's only one other dude in there. 6 feet away, right in front of me, looking right at each other, is the lead singer Evan Felker. Just chilling and jotting down notes in a notebook, waiting on his buddies to meet him for lunch. For a solid 15 minutes. And I didn't have the balls to strike up a conversation. Weak af. 🥹🥹

* It doesn't get much better than this one right here....

In that genre, he's the best of the best.

* New Year's Eve = went for a group run with about 40 other folks. Came home, sat on the couch, put down a bottle of cheap leftover wine, and went to bed shortly after the balls dropped on the East Coast.

Andy Cohen & Anderson Cooper for the win. IMHO.

* I'll never understand all these new collectibles that bradyjames is flaunting, but it warms my heart, even the cockles of my heart, all the way down to the sub cockles, when he's got his hands on a highly sought after 1989 Griffey Jr, or a Pete Rose rookie, a Mickey Mantle card, Jordan rookie, etc.

* Just a reminder that BBdK has always thought Diana Taurasi was hot. #neverforget

* This is how you handle COVID in 2024. Actually, from mid-2021 and beyond.

* I know a lot of you were asking about Rascal Flatts lead singer Joe Don Rooney, but here's the update....

- yes, he's gotten a divorce
- he's been sober for 2 years
- no, he's not transitioning to a woman

link: read about it here

* More Chappelle....

....it's also amazing how he can take a totally played out topic that a million comics have written a joke about, and still manage to come up with something hysterical.

* At least Cal has finally started to sort of criticize the NCAA over the Big Z deal. I've always thought that was a huge missed opportunity. Instead of lying about it for no particular reason, how about call out the hypocrisy of the NCAA and get the media and fans on your side?

“If he were a pro, he’d be a pro. You can make it like he’s a pro,” Calipari said. “‘What about this, what about that, what about this?’ What about the junior that’s making a million dollars and he’s in high school and will go play college basketball? This is common sense stuff. This is why we get into the he-say, she-say and ‘We’re gonna let this kid play and not that kid.’ That’s why I said it in Louisville, the Supreme Court, every court case — common sense. Common sense.”

link: Back on Campus

* Only 3 more day. What's everyone got planned for Patriot's Day?

I know there's at least a few casual Barstool viewers but Jersey Jerry is going on hour 17 of trying to hit a hole in one on a golf simulator live on Youtube. 22000 people watching right now.

-Glad you brought up the Turnpike Troubadours been meaning to give them a listen and it’s perfect timing seeing that I’m on a Childers kick right now anyone.

Been enjoying cruising around on the bike listening to Goth Babe Radio, different but I dig it.

Listening to a ton of classical too with my reading.

-Whoever Jersey Jerry is, he’s going to be sore.

-Hate missing KSR and some of my other podcasts but I always try and save them up before a long drive to binge them.

-Getting to the end of a good book is the best & worst. Obviously you can’t wait to see how it wraps up but you’re bummed it’s about to be over.

-UNC dropped Chizik today I just saw and LSU the same. Anyone want Brad White? Please?

For some strange reason my old man, who reads a bunch, will open a book to the last chapter and read it first. I don’t get it but he’s always done it so no reason to stop now. Hell, he may be a cereal killer for all I know.

LSU fired Matt House, so I doubt they dip back into the Stoops DC pool.

Matt House was the "greatest DC ever" prior to Brad White's current run. Just goes to show you how much easier it is to please UK media and fans than it is at a "big time" football program.
