I don’t remember anyone worrying about defense when we were up 20-30 for a 15-20 minute stretch. It wasn’t until we really let up that it was an issue. Whatever.

There will be a game where someone will slow us down. That will be the litmus test for the type of team we’ll be defensively when we need it.

Ugo, Bradshaw and Z all seem to be rim protectors which we have barely had this season so if you are looking for something to improve that will help.

Other than that if you don’t think teams realize the pressure to score to keep up with a team throwing up 90-100 with ease isn’t real, it is.

This team is 2015/1996 deep! Goodness!

I just need Theiro back to (hopefully) limit Edwards time on the floor. It’s going to take a legendary performance from two players ala aTm game to beat us. Abdul raheim had a career night tonight for Georgia

-Happy Sunday friends! I’m sure we all slept great last night.

-It’s ridiculous outside, Jesus. Lake is frozen completely across. Ready to 🏝️ <——🏎️ 💨 .

-Hilarious on the post game people calling in to tell KSR they were wrong about Z. Slow down folks it’s one game and he was on fire, adrenaline through the roof.

I’ll be happy if he averages half of what he did tonight going forward. He looked great for sure, I’m just tempering any expectations until I see more.

Damn fun game though, loudest I’ve heard Rupp in person since college, what an experience.

-ZERO doubt in my mind the Pack was going to give up that TD after missing that FG. That’s how it always works out. Should’ve won the game the way our defense was playing. Just keep this young squad together.

-Gym, Dog Walk, Church, Brunch, then football and studying Powerlifting the rest of the day.

Where was the first half on the pure fun scale? Watching Z hit those threes and that pass might have been a top 10 regular season moment for me in terms of sheer joy.

I doubt he's as good as he looked yesterday, but where do we stand as a team if Z is legit good? Bradshaw has not been as good as expected but UGO has been a lot better than anticipated. If Z is better than both of them (and he looked it yesterday), do we have to change the rotation to get more bigs on the court despite our offense bringing us success this year?

What happens when Adou gets back? When we add him, it will almost be like adding two starters in January and February.

-I am no professional judge of talent, but last year I watched videos of all the recruits. Had concerns about Edwards and Bradshaw. None regarding Dilly and DJ. Saw Big Z's videos and questioned the level of talent he was playing against, but overall, he looked like he had a ton of talent and potential. I think he is going to be a big piece of the puzzle.

- As I always say to the folks wanting college kids surrounding the floor at Rupp. it get's loud when it needs to be.

- Was really fun seeing the kid do his thing. That behind the back pass took guts, cuz Cal probably pulls him if he threw it out of bounds.

- Defense still a concern, big time.

- But we just gonna Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble the rest of the country.

- Oh you poor Green Bay FG kicker.

Cal needs to make Edwards rewatch Z's first half about 50 times. He doesn't overthink it at any point. A guy is open and he has the ball? Zip it out to them. I've got space for a 3 here? Let it rip.

I'd be 100% more confident in Edwards if it didn't look like he was solving a math problem when driving the ball.

Had a couples dinner date last night so didn’t watch live. Looked up box score before turning it on to watch replay and saw Big Zs stats and got excited. Went to rafters and saw first 3 threads talking about how awful our defense is. Went on here and saw some negative takes, thought to myself game might not be that fun to watch after all. 🙄 I mean Jesus. I actually stopped watching after Sheppherd heat a sweet pull up 3 for us to go up 28 with 7 mins left, as I’m assuming that’s when we expectedly stepped off the gas. I mean good lord if you had to ***** about that game I don’t know what to tell you.

Most telling thing - we were down by 2 points to an SEC opponent with a 3-1 conference record when big Z came in. If that doesn’t tell you what Cal thinks I don’t know what would. Never in a million years did I think Cal would put him in that early, and without hesitation. He’s never thrown a player in like that in the past. Guy is legit. What an awesome game and moment.

I realize Cal prefers a tighter rotation down the stretch. But he can run 10 with this team without having to platoon.
  1. DJ, Dilly, Shep, and Reeves - 3 should be on the floor at all times.
  2. Mitchell**, Edwards, and Thiero** - only 1 should be on the floor at any time. (Sorry, Burks. Come back next year).
  3. Ugo, Z, and Bradshaw - only 1 should be on the floor at any time.
**The only exception is Mitchell and Thiero can steal some minutes in Category 1 but Z has to be on the floor as a stretch 4/5. None of this Ugo and Bradshaw ****.

Tighten the rotation on Categories 2 and 3 depending on who is playing well on any given day. But also rotate fresh bodies on the front line to wear down the opponent.

#win

Also, protect this man at all costs.

It’s okay to enjoy a game, Strokin’. I know you’re traumatized. But it really is okay.
I absolutely love watching these games. It’s beautiful basketball and the way they share the ball, man.

I’m just worried about that one game when shots aren’t falling. Who are we then?

The nature of the tourney is wacky. All it takes is one game. Defense travels. And I think our defense WILL get better/tougher.

I think we would wax anyone in a “best of …” series. But that’s neither here nor there.

Strokin you still coach high school ball? Curious how you’d feel if your main varsity players were 5 FR 2SR?

I’d assume when you were playing teams that were heavy JR/SR you’d think they’d have a strength and experience advantage?

Basically that’s the boat we are in with mostly FR 18-19 year old kids. Our defense is affected by that no doubt.

Dražen Petrović Is the reason why I’m a Nets fan. My favorite NBA player ever. Played with freedom, confidence, and intelligence.

Hoping Z is cut.from the same jib.

Where was the first half on the pure fun scale?
Right there with 2009, PTI’s place with the crew on hand for the Wall & Cousins led UNC game. And the first half of last night may have surpassed that euphoric feeling, though from a program standpoint, not so much.

Given we didn’t know until shortly before the game Z would even play and even then, never know how much run Cals gonna give him, that sequence of 3, block, behind-the-back pass, 3, 3 was pure Walter White blue sky.

Pretty obvious you clueless dolts don't pay attention to basketball outside of High St. My apologies for conveying something that is well beyond your comprehension. Congrats to the European pro Big Z for being the first 7' player to be able to shoot from outside.
