When GYERO was in it's infancy, and I was, at the time, still younger than most, if not all of it's originators, the WODIE CREW are now, I would have never guessed that this thread would usher in it's second generation with chad justifying his well-documented unwillingness to attend home games by dropping "wife's mucus plug" rather than just wanting to club it up in Mt. Adams.

The North American Jockey Club rejected “Mucus Plug” as an appropriate name for a promising 2 year old filly from Mike Pegram’s stable. Probably.

**** I just didn’t want to do the lazy “I saw Mucus Plug open for the Butthole Surfers back in ‘94” post. So . . . rejected thoroughbred name instead.

I don’t know how I feel about it. Whatever.

It’s annoying and tiresome that - based on past experience - any time someone sits out we are compelled to assume some ******** is happening.

Im thinking back to Hall Pitino & Tubbys teams & trying to recall the injury situations we had

Bowie was an obvious and extreme situation

Beal lost a year with a knee injury & W Bennett too I think

Bogans / Anderson getting hurt in the NCAAs happened

But it SEEMS like Cals teams have had more nagging injuries than previous UK
Chapters.

Does that sound right?

Or am I forgetting some instances with past players?

K Walker had an eye injury at tournament time too

And we KNEW what those deals were. There was no lingering mystery surrounding any of those.

Here's how it works in every other program in America:

1) You see player get hurt in game or hear about it happening in practice
2) You hear coach say, "so and so got hurt; doctors say it's a sprain and he'll be out 2-4 weeks"
3) You see player walk around on sideline with a limp or boot on foot or arm in sling
4) You hear coach give update like, "so and so is making good progress, he should be back by next week".

Instead, Cal and UK treat us like a bunch of morons or something. It's disrespectful.

Trying to put on a brave face. Want to be optimistic about tonight. Biggest game of the year, at Rupp, against the dirty Vols. But…

- We have no answer for Knecht
- Zeigler and Vescovi have been **** all year but sure to light us up
- Rick Barnes owns Cal
- No DJ and Adou about 60%
- Program is a ship taking on water with Cpt. Fat Wop at the helm.

My typical feeling of anticipation and anxiety leading to a big game is replaced with dread. Think Tennessee wins going away, +15.

F*ck you Cal.

I will say this again, I don’t know how we win tonight at this moment, but we will.

Any word on Edwards?

Yes. He sucks.

Maybe but I’d like for him to be playing tonight and guard Knecht instead of Reeves.

Assuming Adou’s back is going to be bothering him and Edwards is an idea matchup.

Not your idea I’m sure, but this is all I need from him all season!

Took a 3.5 mile walk with my dog.

Went and got lunch at my neighborhood watering hole.

Let myself get annoyed seeing a millennial with a hat on that just said, “Dipshit ❤️”.

She also was telling her friend that the Florida Keys weren’t islands because you can drive to them.

Went down the block and ate a scoop of two different flavors of ice cream by myself.

Im fairness to Cal's eta of coaching - the players and their tenures / risk tolerance for harming NBA draft stock is a bigger issue I suppose

But it seems like we get a lot ot dings, nicks and multi-game absences with something happening every year

It could just be my perception

I can't recall any other injuries fm those older teams - Coach Hall was Rupps strength and conditioning coach too wasn't he?

Maybe he emphasized that better than current UK teams?

Game has become any MORE physical since the 80s right?

Maybe less physical now?

It begins. Big10 & SEC a joint commission of presidents, chancellors, ADs to become an advisory group to help decide/solve problems for the NCAA and other conferences.

This is the ACC and colleges like ULs worst nightmare. It’s obvious these two conferences are trying to muscle everyone else out of any control.

Played pickle ball for the first time yesterday with my brother - im a freaking natural apparently

Anyone else watching this UT / NCAA **** storm?

Apparently TN AG has sued the NCAA
Virginia - maybe ten other states joined

Big 10 & SEC forming a separate steering committee to advise and direct "student athletes collegiate experience" (NIL contracts)

NCAA is on the ropes- they're so maddeningly obsolete and counter productive it makes me break out in hives - disgusting useless entity that's doubling down on demanding an unchecked authoritarian role in **** that no longer matters

PS - pending 2025 lawsuit will advocate that players become University? State? Employees and not just students ---

Is it common for people to always be late these days? We are usually “right on time” people but seems like every event we go to, we get a text (from an individual or fam) saying, “running 20-30 behind”.

Usually super last min too, right around the time we are supposed to meet.

I'm no GYEROLAW, but it seems like a slam dunk that Fan Duel is going to have to pay back a pretty large chunk of money (if not all of it) that Jaguars employee stole and deposited directly into his betting account from the team's account. Pretty bold strategy to tell an NFL franchise to pound sand when the whole GD league and it's commissioner can probably cost you way more than that in the long run.

What ever happened with FSU, UVA, UNC possibly jumping out of the ACC? That was real and I’d assume still being thought about.

Not sure what coach it was that said all this realignment is stupid and should be football only so that all the other sports don’t lose their rivalries.

That was a fair idea honestly. Standiford and Cal playing the ACC is dumb, and USC in the B10 is just sad!

Flight’s at 6am, about a 30 min drive. With Uber reservation and living on the key, I usually allow for about 20 min buffer bc they have a tendency to be late. Last time, it got close. This time, I’m sure I’ll be early.

I live 18 minutes to the airport with no traffic. For a 6:30 AM flight I leave my house at 5:40. Get to the airport, valet the car, and I’ll be in line by 6:00. What the hell are you gonna do at the airport for 2 hours at 4 AM?

Is it just me or are more ppl just doing abrupt u-turns in situations where its not legal or advisable?

Also - watched the debacle of the "pro
Bowl games" last night

Holy Crap - they're one step away fm performing a sporting event that half the population could reasonably compete in

And the announcers -- hahaha
All trained through the same broadcasting degree type institutions where you MUST help drive the drama and sell the event to the public...

So they're trying to inject excitement and asking the "players" how they were handling the "stress" of throwing a ball at moving dummies (penis shaped) and large circular targets

Hell - I understand the pro bowl isn't the drawn it used to be- but in the name of all that's decent --- don't replace it with what ls basically a state fair type activity and pretend its not utterly embarrassing

Hell - they ended with fkking Dodge Ball
I could hang with NFL players for a minute in freakng Dodge Ball

They actually assigned two 'coaches' (manning brothers) for - some reason

And it looked like there were maybe 45 ppl there

But they still had REFEREES signaling whether the players hit the giant moving penises or not - surreal man

Kind of cheapens the notion of being selected by your peers to represent I think - just retire it, you freaking waterheads!!!

BUT -- bring back the old "college all stars vs Super Bowl champion game " --- hell yeah

Anywho

Well I just told you, I allowed 20 min of “buffer” time since last time the driver was 20 min late. If he’s on time, I’ll arrive at airport at 4. Drop off bag, get thru security, take a piss, get to gate and it’ll be 4:30. If he’s late like last time, that’ll be closer to 5.

Either way, I’ll have a coffee and listen to a podcast.

I have a 3:30am Uber pickup to the airport in the morning. I’m gonna stay up and watch but I know I’ll regret it by halftime.

Aw come on man - have faith
UK coming off the UF loss - should be played with focus

Violet cuts etc

Im watching this thing with two die hard Tennessee fans down here so - we HAVE to win

At least we don't have a three way love triangle distracting players with torrid down low love

I am intrigued by this... how long are you going to be gone? Why not just drive to the airport? There's no buffer you need to worry about, and the parking has to be cheaper than the Uber each way.
