How many games can one coach blow in one season? I can’t even keep track. It’s amazing.

Kansas - 14 point lead blown directly due to subbing in Edwards and Wagner

Mid-major UNC-W in Rupp 🤦🏻‍♂️

A&M - gave that one away

Florida - four point lead with 30 seconds

Gonzaga

What an awful coaching performance from Calipari this year.

- I mean - this isn’t Adolph Rupp stuff. Our rotation has been pretty damn clear since the season started.

Reed, Dillingham and Reeves
Thiero
Mitchell/Ugo

Edwards and Wagner are role players- give them minutes as needed to spare the real guys.

- My disdain for our BS conference is well documented. I just hate these weird late night SEC West games. Jordan Wright in his 9th year of haunting us, seemingly having played at half the schools in the conference. Bizarre bayou ****.

You can point to a number of specifics - the basics of lineups are most easily recognized- but bottom line is whatever it is that Cal had that made him great is gone.

He’s an average-at-best coach the past 4 years. He’s straight up blown 5 games this year. You could argue he’s been worse this year than the past 3.

Nate Oats, Bruce Pearl, Tommy Lloyd, Danny Hurley and a number of other coaches would have this squad in contention for a one seed.

Now maybe we pull a run out of rear in March. Wouldn’t shock me with our guard talent but that’s Cal’s only hope at this point- being Kevin Ollie.

This loss would feel horrible if it weren't routine/predictable at this point.

My favorite part of the game was when we played Bradshaw and Ugo in the front court with Reeves on the bench in a game we ended up losing by a point. Frittering away a few possessions here and a few there with pathetic lineup choices is an art that Cal has mastered.
Don't bring this up to BBdBilas. Mid Game subs don't mean anything according to him.

Edwards/Wagner = 40 minutes total
Reed/Dillingham = 48 minutes total

He also just can't give Ugo a breather by putting Bradshaw with the best 4. He has to do some dumb **** lineup.

30-40 coaches minimum would have this team top 15.

Krazy is fine. Anything else is redundant at this point. Just get us to March because I’m numb to the BS.

- Wife’s hysterectomy went exceptionally well. We were home the same day and recovery will be a challenge due to her stubbornness. I can handle that compared to ridiculously low blood levels and being completely out of whack needing blood transfusion every other month, main doctor thinking at 35 she needs a heart cath because of such low blood levels for so long doing damage to her heart, it affecting how the brain is functioning etc etc.

Just take me back to 4-1/2 years ago when she was nice, kind and caring. Getting her fixed absolutely sent her into a surreal level of constant rage and insane blood pressures that had to be apart of constant hemoglobin of 3-5 without transfusions.

-your best guard(s) sitting for the first 8 mins of the game...and then not starting the 2nd half is where it's at. DJ killed the cats last night.

^we've known this, but it bears repeating: UK basketball has turned into the Calipari make a wish foundation for middling basketball players. His ******** is starting to garner national attention...maybe that's good.

If we are being honest, I think fans this year have been pretty easy on Cal compared to other complete blunder seasons. Maybe because the team is likeable- or whatever... they've been given an extremely long leash by the fans. They've gotten a lot of praise when things go well, and the criticisms arent just man yelling at cloud type stuff- its completely legitimate. But after last night, and potentially another dropped home game Saturday, the knives are going to come out in abundance.

Wagners' stat line is pathetic this year. As much as Edwards has underperformed, Wagner is up there as just as disappointing

Wagner
Pts. 10.5
Assists 3
TO's 1.6
3 pt%. 27

He's basically Ryan Harrow on the numbers:

Harrow
Pts. 10
Assists 3
TO's 1.6
3 pt%. 30%

It doesn't take a Basketball Bennie to see that we are scoring fewer points. We aren't in transition as much as we were earlier in the schedule. Our half court offense isn't any different. We have no real rotation or substitution pattern. We are stuck in a continual cycle of fizzling out in late February and early March as other coaches scout and make adjustments. It is what it is, and there's no real reason to get too emotionally involved.

Cal skipping out after Saturday's big win to go get his Insta opportunities in Indy is so incredibly on-brand for that *** (after, of course, the promo he cut on his HATERS.) . It's clear what he "values." And it ain't the University of Kentucky, the tradition of the program, or BBN. He's so over being the HC here.

Almost 10 years ago our stupid *** coach proclaimed that wins don’t even matter, and he’s still here losing games.

That’s a management issue.

Sorry for what? Don’t be a puss. If you aren’t going to dish you don’t belong here, and if you can’t take it you certainly don’t belong here.

Everyone that’s been thru anything has basically made the same post, this place is a place of solace that brings some sort of normal back no matter what’s happening.

Even though it’s all redundant and Cal’s lineups were killing us we also had two different droughts going 0-9 and 0-7 that included missed dunks, missed layups, and missed floaters. Add those spirts and Reed doing anything offensively and it’s a potentially different game.

Thats not to make excuses for Cal because his management style is probably a factor into those droughts and Reeds mental struggles, but the combination of all of it leads to bad losses.

Even though that team has the talent to be better than 13-12, we also have the talent to be better than 18-8 so at some point, and this is hard for me to say, you are who you are and our coach is apart of that 18-8.

Fun to poke around on here:

Looks to me like, per these analytics, our 5 guys should be Shep, Rob, Reeves, Edwards, Bradshaw. Mitchell is still up there as well, but his numbers have tanked in the last month. Thiero is solid and improving. By any metric, Wagner and Ugo shouldn't be playing much, unless we're subbing them in for defense.

It all basically lines up with the eye test, except for Ugo vs. Bradshaw. A healthy Mitchell obviously needs as many minutes as he can go, but he hasn't been himself for a month and we're a week from March, so I'm not expecting any kind of triumphant return.

BBdK keeps going on these smartass rants about "welp, [insert top ranked team] lost last night, so I guess NOBODY is winning the national championship this year!"

Between that, and this team's "upside," he's not wrong. Anyone can get on a heater, particularly the Cats. We can literally beat anyone at any time on any floor, and we've proved that. Very few teams have our talent. The problem is, we just keep digging ourselves a bigger and bigger hole.

5 games left. Let's say we got 3-2, or 2-3, and win 1 game in the SEC Tournament. So we're 22-11, or 21-12 going into Selection Sunday. That's......maybe a 10 seed? Or worse? Just a huge uphill battle. I'd feel way better about his argument if we were a 4, 5, or maybe a 6. I just can't f'ing believe with THIS roster we've gotten ourselves in this position. But that's what you get for walking your dog in a baby stroller.

-So basically we’re probably pushing 50 losses in four years with NBA talent everywhere…. Cool.

-Seems Krazy could’ve saved himself a lot of trouble just learning to use the ol pull out method… prayers buddy hope she’s doing better every day.

So all the players that opt in to NCAA 25 get $600 and a copy of the game? Haha as if that’s compensation for them making a billion dollars off this game. What a joke.

Better than nothing but that’s still bs.*

*May break the PS4/5(I don’t even know which one I have) back out and buy this game still.

-yep... feel bad for DJ, Cal is ****ing him.

-reed's "mental issues"... dafuq are you talking about Krazy. He's by far the toughest kid on the team. Foh with that ********.
Reed isn’t even trying to score on offense like he was before Wagner was out.

I looked at his stats and he did take double digit shots against Ole Miss and Gonzaga, but at Auburn he took 6 shots and last night he took 7 shots.

From my perspective Reed has to be aggressive and looking for his shots just like Dilly and Reeves do.

Now I will say playing Reed, Dilly and Reeves means someone is going to take less shots due to there being only so many and with that lineup clearly Reed becomes very passive.

Thats all mental to me but I could be wrong. For me it’s the exact same passive behavior Edwards suffers from.
