MLB owns part of one while NBA owns a part of the other, not sure which, and several large corporations have stake in the game at this point. You get that kind of backing, coupled with the taxes levied and the general public outcry against shutting it down and you'd have a huge mess of legal matter to dissolve. Not worth it in the end when the govt would be just fine if they got a bump from the new phenomenon.

Not really. Most of the big winners over time will be people using computer algorithms. The little guy will get squeezed out. Sure, they will sneak through time to time, and those sites will push those winners, but the big paydays will be to the "pros".
They won't as long as they dont sell their bets, but I'm sure their legal team is top notch, tho.

~As a member in good standing with the degenerate horse player union, this is quite a topic for concern in the industry. Only thing they can counter with is a Pick-6 carryover (SoCal tracks typically) or a guaranteed pick-4 or pick 5 on big days where the pools can get into low 7 figures for both wagers.

I do not think they will completely ban those sites outright. What I think we'll see is a crackdown on the claims they're making and a requirement of a stronger emphasis on the odds of actually winning. Once the general public has been made aware of the real odds of winning anything of substance, then have at it. Right now the advertising makes it appear as if people are winning millions on the regular. Of course for decades Ed McMahon was all over TV with a giant cardboard check, so WTF do I know.

Yahoo is now offering a similar product DraftKings, so the view is that it will remain legal. Government could always crack down though, since it is pretty much gamboling. Techincally it is considered a game of skill, not chance/luck.
