The country snobs seem to have a few requirements for 'real' country:

1.) One man and a guitar
2.) Marginal to bad voice
3.) Writes his own songs

I don't get it. I've tried listening to your suggestions, and it puts me to sleep. Most of it is depressing.

Sturgill is dope as hell, but most of the others...maybe I'm listening to the wrong songs, dunno.

the most vocal critics of country music are also the ones who have never really been fans in the first place. shocker. if you've never liked it before, there's no real reason to start now.

I love country music, always have. Just find it funny that according to you, it's not really country music.

...and I'm not talking about this country-rap ******** either, or 95% of the pop stuff that dominates the radio. Just regular good country songs....there are still plenty, and during the 90s/etc even more.

But according to anyone who worships "REAL" country (whatever that truly means), that wasn't country either. [eyeroll]

i actually defend these bozos like florida georgia line more than most. i think their music SUCKS, but it's not necessarily breaking country music tradition. im not even sure what country music really is. go back in time and the genre is littered with untalented hacks, sissies, and unconventional sounds. this didn't just start recently.

actually, george strait might be the biggest no talent hack this side of tim mcgraw. i WORSHIP him, but he's never written a song in his life. his voice is very good but not great. and his guitar is more of a prop than an instrument.

LOVE the guy, but he's famous because of his charm, looks, and the way he fills out those tight fittin wranglers. he's got more luke bryan in him than most care to admit.

(and much better song writers. thank you, dean dillon)

1st paragraph of the 5 part Q&A features a gratuitous shot at UL/Pitino. Please more of that when you must flap your gums, Cal.

Intriguing frontcourt shaping up for the 16/17 squad...

Lee- experienced energy guy, defender
Humphries- skilled 7-footer
Wynyard- physical bruiser
Killeya-Jones- skilled stretch-4
Gabriel- combo forward with tons of upside, hell Scout has him #10

Considering the lack of bigs in the '16 class, Cal did a helluva job giving us a solid, and potentially excellent frontcourt stable. We nabbed perhaps the two biggest risers in the class in SKJ and Gabriel. Gotta love seeing bigs improving so rapidly.

I'm hoping Lee isn't back next year. Looking for that dude to blow up this year and bounce.

Add Fox and Monk... then probably 1 more and that's a HAUL!!

You add Fox/Monk...and that team is looking a lot like SAE's '11 squad. Guard-first with 3&D on the wing (Mulder/Matthews) some upside at forward (Gabriel) and a legit post (Humphries).

My guess on boom...

He sulked after the game, showed his *** over the depth chart, Stoops called him on it, Boom didn't back down, Stoops sent him home to figure out if he wants to Be a part of a *team* or GTFO

Per KSR, exactly what happened BTW

I don't have the SEC Alt channel in HD, in fact I don't think I have it at all.

Daddy might be going out Saturday night. [cheers]

I gauge my country music on the following:
1. Does it sound good enough when we're at blackout at Tootsie's

Aside from that, not having a car stereo for the better part of a year (the ground next to my car was hit by lightning and the stereo wont work now) pretty much prevents me from listening to anything.
