We will beat Charlotte. That's it. Finish 5-7. Lose to Louisville with a bowl on the line. Next year's schedule is much harder. @ Florida, @ Missouri @ Tennessee @ Alabama @ Louisville --> Guaranteed 4 losses, probably 5.

We almost lost to EKU and Lafayette and that's when things were going well. The team has obviously quit. There will be like 85 fans at that game. I wouldn't lay money on us at a pick em.

I'm honestly disgusted. I don't mind losing but I absolutely can not stand when a team just gives up. 3 games running that's happened.

If he wants year five he has to get to a bowl this year, because next year's schedule screams 4-8 or 5-7. With no bowl this season, I don't know if he sees season five with four losing seasons under his belt.

Gabe just said on Larry Glover that Towles is going to transfer after this season using the fifth year rule. Said he has taken his last snap at UK. Huh. He seemed adamant. Sounds completely f'n ridiculous, so it's probably true.

He'll be an all conference-caliber QB if he does. If there were odds on that kind of thing, I'd bet on it

Might as well. If he gets benched he's dunzo here.

Completely agree. 6-6 and he'll be fine. 5-7 he can probably get away with firing Dawson and hiring a ST coach but he'll need to beat someone next year. Drop all 3 and I'm honestly not sure.

The biggest indictment on this staff is how this team has stopped competing. We can second guess on field decisions til Duckhead comes back, but the lack of guts says it all. Jones hinted at locker room turmoil earlier this week. No doubt, something's up.

Meetch him won't be firing Stoops after this year even if he loses out. Won't even be a question, and it shouldn't be.

Correct. We're speculating about following next season. The two scenarios are a bowl this season or no bowl in four seasons. He can't bring him back after four losing seasons or we'll have Joker-esque crowds at home in season five.

He won't fire him regardless but if he loses out, it's going to be very uncomfortable for both of them. If he misses a bowl game he's going to have to make a change somewhere.

Brooks didn't have a winning season until his fifth season, but his fourth season was absolutely decimated by injuries and he had to deal with probation and loss of scholarships.

Open competition is fine. I guess if nothing else maybe Barker brings a mental change to the team because no one seems interested in playing at this point.

Of course if on 3rd and 8 we go for 6 every time it doesn't matter. I don't think players quit because of other players but I do think no one has confidence in Dawson.

I'm a huge Stoops guy and I say give him another year regardless. I mean Rich Brooks looked hopeless after this amount of time then suddenly they were rolling.

But there's a big difference between going out and competing and getting beat, like the Florida or Auburn games, and going out and playing mediocre football for a quarter and deciding "Welp, this is too GD hard, eff it." And letting the team get rolled up like this. If you go to Georgia, and you just don't have the horses, and you lose 31-21, and you were never really in the game, then oh well. But this team had already decided it couldn't win and phoned in the last two and a half quarters. And it's done that for going on a month now. This is a character issue from the top down. It's a pride issue. Go out and get beat, but don't go out and just go through the motions. That's on Stoops. Period.

In fairness, Stoops had to deal with Joker's mess. Marcus Welby have been on the death penalty under him.
That was 3 years ago and doesn't excuse this type of ****. Also IIRC Brooks teams weren't giving up to teams and the SECE was a helluvalot better. I don't think anyone is asking for wins against these last 3 teams but the way we've lost is absolutely concerning. Considering the free fall we experienced last season. Inexplicable this is the same team that played so beautifully against South Carolina, beat Mizzou with Mauk and almost beat UF.

Brooks first team didn't play for him for ****. They never got over Guy Morriss leaving them.

That 2005 team was worse than I thought looking up the records maybe it's revisionist but I just always felt like his teams fought like dogs. The way these games went down is tough to swallow. I thought we were past this.

Majority of these kids playing although inexperienced are the staffs kids. There are fundamental football problems across the board and that is what is most concerning at this point. This was towles worst game of the season and we are 9 games in. Time to blow it up completely unlike last year and start over or face the consequence of stepping back to square one.

Brooks was going to get fired heading into the 2006 season. After the LSU debacle, I thought it was a certainty. Then we had a bye week, and then the comebacks vs. MSU and Georgia, and a new momentum was born. 4-4 in 2006 was actually our best SEC record since the Claiborne era.

theres an amazing amount of revisionist history with the rich brooks era. i can promise you there was nobody on the planet talking about how well his teams fight when we lost 48-13 at indiana in 2005. and starting off the 06 season by allowing 59 points at louisville, i don't recall anyone giving him the benefit of the doubt with personnel.

awful game. easily the most embarrassing performance of the season. georgia was reeling. and now we've gotten them right back on track. jesus h.

It's no excuse but that 4th and 2 play to open out of the half led to a TD. Bad decision to go for it there in a 1 TD game, and I'm not sure we got past the 50 after that either.

* Patrick Towles goes to barber shop, shaves head, begins growing goatee, digs out Rec Spec goggles from under his bed.

Do we seriously not have someone that could punt better than Landon Foster enrolled at UK? There has to be some former high soccer player / kicker out there that can kick the **** out of it. At this point he probably smokes a pack of reds a day and is leaning on a bar somewhere in town, but we need to find him and he needs to loosen up that leg and get his *** out there.

Foster is broken.
