Solo in Vegas Randoms: (WATTBA)

Friday: Touched down around 2pm local time...Lyft (recently approved at McCarron) to my hotel. Stayed at the newly remodeled Linq, which is a Ceasar's property essentially smack dab in my preferred area of the Strip: Sandwiched in between Royale/Harrah & Flamingo, and directly across from Ceasar's & Mirage. Sparkling new/clean, modern, and trendy. Rooms smallish..wouldn't stay there with the wife, but it was perfect for me on this trip. Cheap rooms, young energetic crowd.
...stupidly had anxiety about being able to watch the silly UK exhibition -- assumed it wouldn't be on anywhere since there is no line attached, and was correct. So after a brief walk-around, retreated back to my room to watch the 1st half while unpacking & getting settled in. Then, it was out the door.
The "natural high" the first evening in Vegas is pretty much unmatched. Took awhile for it to "sink in" that I was there with 4 days ahead of me to do whatever I wanted...actutally gave me extreme anxiety, which I couldn't figure out, but whatever.
Finally hit a $10 craps table at Harrah's, bought in for $100, and proceeded to roll for about 35 minutes...by far the best roll of my life. Won around $400 + several tokes from my buddies who aren't betting pussies, and won well into 4 figures off of me. Amazing start to the trip -- but I knew it wouldn't last. I swear Casinos/Tracks have a built in 6th sense that allows you to win at first....this happens at about a 90% clip with me. Spent the rest of the night just walking around and soaking it all in.
Saturday; Cats kicked off at 9am, so after an Egg McMuffin, went across the street to Mirage Sportsbook, which is my favorite on the strip. So much free comfortable seating, unlike most where you have to 'buy' a prime spot. They have that as well, but I've always found a great spot. Settled in on my own couch, loaded up my table with parlay/teaser cards, and got to work --- Basically posted up here all day, was glorious. Free drink tickets with every bet as well, which I don't believe is standard in most books any longer.
...evening nap before heading down to Paris where I put $100 on Red and doubled my money. Hopped in Gordon Ramsay Steak for some Waygu Sliders & Cocktail -- then it was back to the SportsBook for LSU/Bama & the other games...while texting ABH/Anth. Got absolutely hosed on Sparty, which ruined another potentially huge night. Hit the tables on the way back with no luck. Pretty much the perfect Vegas day.
Sunday: Started out with breakfast at Bouchon, Thomas Keller's French bistro in the Venetian. Put this on your list -- absolutely incredible. From there it was back to the Sportsbook for my NFL card for the day -- kept my daily routine of Sportsbook/Gambol going...got absolutely crushed in every NFL game. O-fer.
...early dinner at Giada, newer spot atop The Cromwell with Fountain Views. Lobster Ravioli & an Old Fashoined, and then it was off to Fremont St.
...not where I'd want to stay, but it was an awesome time -- most definitely worthy of a few hours after you've been on the strip for a few days. Love being able to walk in 20 casinos all basically connected and concentrated to a few blocks. No cars, no streets to cross, etc....cheap drinks, cheap tables. Settled in at Binions and had a nice run....$200+. The one night I got actually hammered...ended up drunk zip-lining with a few guys I met at the table all the way down Fremont. lol. Lyft home.
Monday: My 4th day in town...woke up realizing I'd been a bit ambitious in adding on Friday, and was searching for early flights home. The worst part was that there was no sports action (til MNF). Anth talked me out of it and convinced me the extra day could actually be used to rest/relax, and be fresh upon arriving home -- took his advice, and he was right. Hour massage at the hotel spa was amazing. Resort Spas are so nice/sick, really underrated...even if you don't get a massage, you can usually use the facilities, which are usually amazing. Post-spa, my host convinced me to sit in some Himalayan Salt cave for another hour...I did. 2:30 later I walked out of the Spa feeling like a million bucks
...headed over to Ceasars and dropped in Joe's Stone Crab for a nice Filet/Crab lunch w/ a Mule. Nap time. Light gambol that afternoon, before dinner at Michael Mina @ Bellagio....which was an incredible finish.
Only mistake was instead of going to bed as planned, I decided on one last hour at the tables -- and completely lost my ***. You simply cannot gambol if you aren't feeling the "vibe" or really into it. You'll never win. Just stupid.
...that's it. Don't have any crazy stories, other than just the endless weird/funny **** you encounter there pretty much 24/7. Really, it was just 4 days of all day Sports Gambol, Casinos, good drinks, good eats -- all on my own time. Mirage/Caesars were where I spent most of my time, but gamboled pretty much everywhere for at least 30 minutes: Harrahs, Royale, Wynn, Cosmo, Paris, Cromwell, Aria, Venetian, MGM, & Bellagio.
Was in bed by 10:30 (vegas time) every single night & pretty well behaved. It was a just a nice little getaway in a place filled with most of my favorite things...not sure how it could have gone any better, really. Well, maybe I could have won money, but that's never my expectation at the casino. Despite 2 big nights, still ended up down $300 or so overall -- money well spent.:100points:
Love it out there.
