The season starts today. If Briscoe doesn't go and I think Cal holds him out this weekend out of an abundance of caution, Matthews may slide into his starting spot and never relinquish it.

Ulis
Murray
Matthews
Poythress
Skal

Briscoe
Lee
Willis

I like my team. I really have a great feeling about this bunch. I think we win the championship. Ulis will accept nothing less.

The video quality in this video is awful, but still...man, that was fun. Nothing like Rupp Arena when the CATS!!!! get on a roll. The final minute of that 1st Half with the back-to-back Bogans and Hayes dunks was just insane.

- Nashville hotels $400/night now? Really? As a Nashville visitor from way back (2003), it really pisses me off that everyone else discovered it.

- The NFL just makes me sick. Between the stupid uniform shenanigans every GD week, the buffoon Goodell, hypocritical money-grubbing Thursday night games and the fact they now produce a melodramatic narrated video montage for damn near every game, the whole thing disgusts me.

But at least my Bengals are 8-0.

Booked a hotel back in August for a Christmas concert and $200+ was the best I could get downtown, even that far ahead.

That Florida game was probably the most fun I've had at a UK basketball game. The IU game in 2012 in Atlanta and John Wall vs unc are up there too.

Enjoyed that one at The World Famous. Walked straight there from an exam at B&E. Called it a week, of course. [smoke]

Miss you, college.

That 2003 team is still one of the best passing teams I've ever seen. That team got me back on the Tubby bandwagon for a couple more regretful years. When they were on they were so fun to watch. They played stellar defense and just carved you up with passing.

Still can't get over how quick/fluid Draymond Green is these days. He was a slow-motion player in college, although damn effective.

He brings the ball up the floor a good chunk of the time. I know Curry is technically the PG on that team, but they really don't operate like he is. Hell, Bogut's probably the best passer they have.

* I love Erik Daniels. I loved that team.

* Coming down to Lex tonight, sold my tix for mañana.

* I've been waiting for over a week for my new K hat to arrive. According to the tracking in has been in Loveland for almost 48 hours. Somebody bring that sonuvabitch to my front door.

* One of the teacher's aides at my kids' school is pure smoke. wcc, if things don't work out over the holidays I think she would be a good bounce back for you. I'm pulling for your current romance to last forever, though.

* Combined QB #'s for tomorrow… 14-31, 136 yds, 1 td, 2 int.

But we win anyway, 17-13.

* Introduced my 5-yr old to Star Wars and she absolutely loves it. We've watched the original and Empire Strikes Back so far. The 3-yr old isn't interested for more than 5 minutes at a time.

Last night, she ended up in our bed as usual. At 5am she kept patting my head until I woke up. She is sitting up with a **** eating grin on her face.

"What are you doing, Lea? Go back to sleep."

"Laugh it up, Fuzzball." (In her best Han Solo voice.) Followed by maniacal laughter.

I was very proud. And as I was lying there trying to fall back asleep I thought to myself, "MaxPowerrrrr would appreciate this." I love GYERO.

-So you're saying that Golden State plays.....POSITIONLESS BASKETBALL???

-Love when John Clay tweets out the daily college hoops TV schedule. Besides the CATS, the most intriguing opening night teams to watch are Gonzaga(how will they handle what will probably be a typically-aggressive Pitt team?), and the first games of the Michael White era at Florida(think we'll be startled at how depleted of star power Florida is) and Shaka at Texas(how he'll try to play a form of his "Havoc" defense with Barnes' holdovers).

-I know how much he hates these preseason tournaments, but I do wish Cal would play one of these games at a military base overseas, something like that. Always cool to see these games played, (ir)regardless of who's actually playing. And BBN's national reach means there would automatically be a ton of Cat fans in the crowd.

With winter, cold, and darkness ---> in comes college basketball to make things okay.

Man, what a glorious trade-off. You weather pussies should be MUCH more thankful...you don't deserve to watch IMO.

Aside from early season and conference/NCAA tourneys, have we ever played games on consecutive nights? Was there a scheduling reason for this? Just can't seem to remember 2 in a row.

I generally park around 3rd and Broadway for games at Rupp and those December/January winds on cold nights can make that walk back to the car brutal.

I bought a goofy wildcat hat to keep my bald head and ears warm one night.

But the worst is when there is snow and slush on the ground. You folks in Lexington have no level sidewalks and have no clue how to remove snow and ice from your streets/sidewalks. I step in an icy puddle that looks like solid ground at least once a season. My foot always starts burning around the first media timeout. Misery.

Good Morning:

:: I'd like to be with the cool kids and hate the early Christmas build up, but I have a five year old. I can't help but get into Christmas mode when I see the smile on my boy's face as he watches The Polar Express the first of a billionty times. All Scrooge goes away once you have a kid that begins to get into Christmas.

:: Speaking of firsts, took fylm 2.0 to a hibachi joint last night. Absolute blast. Little dude was enthralled with the fire and onion volcano.

:: Incidentally, Asuka in Brannon Crossing, solid if you're into that sort of thing. Huge fan of the Sushi bar. Any place serving gigantic pieces of Uni is A-OK in my book.

:: Old news, but Shotgun Wedding in cans is a fine development.

:: I'm sure this has been bandied about, but I wonder what the overall GYERO stance is on moving back the start of basketball season? Cal had the idea to move it back to the spring semester and I'm all for it...

- Freshmen get the entire fall semester to practice/adjust to college. Gameplay and grades would be better. This is my favorite aspect. Sometimes the college game is downright unwatchable. Anything that can improve the product on the air/court is needed.

- Avoid most of the football TV domination. CFB title game would be over. Only have to get around the NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl. I think CBB would fare better versus the NBA, NFL Draft, and the start of MLB than CFB and the NFL.

- Better home game environment...let's face it some of those games during Christmas break are absolute dogs. I'd rather see a packed Rupp for SEC games in March than a 3/4 full mausoleum for Directional State in December.

:: OK, fire away. I would miss those Holiday roadies too. I was in Chicago last year for the UCLA blasting. It was awesome. I'd like to think there would be some great travel deals in those host cities with a post Holiday hangover.

:: Admit it though...there's a small part of you that would enjoy watching vines of Billy Joe Wildcat trying to set up a tent for Madness tickets in January snow.

Too many games in too short a period of time to start in January. How would a 30-40 game schedule work? The players already miss a ton of school as it is. Throw another 10-15 games on top of that in the winter, and professors would riot.

Cal wanted an extra day for Duke. We did play two in a row early like this the year we won it all.:basketball:[thumb2]
