-Wanted Luke Kennard so bad. And I still have basically no idea what happened there. He knew Grayson Allen would be coming back. He said K promised him time at PG, and then K turns around and signs Thornton. Just weird all the way around. But yeah, he's overrated now. Hate him.

-Duke's bigs are average at best, but they at least know WHAT to do, offensively and defensively, and that could prove to be a difference. I say Duke by 6.

-Some nice late-night matchups tonight to get the marathon started. San Diego State at Utah will end up in the 50's, but I'm interested to see how Poetl does against a SDSU defense, which is usually pretty nasty. Oregon vs. Baylor is a nice matchup too. Virginia could have trouble with GW on the road. And if Tennessee, with their mediocre roster, can somehow win at Georgia Tech, then it's gonna be a long final season for Brian Gregory(who was a bad fit at GT all along, IMO).

-Tried to watch a little SEC basketball last night, but it was just depressing to watch that Mizzou game. Sparse crowd, mediocre play against a low-major, a vanilla coach who has inspired absolutely nothing in that fan base. I get that they went with the *safe* hire post-Haith, and the guy's an alum who had success on the D-2 level, but his two best players bolted and I just can't see them winning more than 4 conference games this year. Light years away from Doug Smith, Anthony Peeler, etc.

Jeezus- if you would've told me after that November 2012 game that Alex Poythress would be playing for UK against Duke in November 2016, I'd have told you to get pumped.

Just don't see Stoops going out like that. In his 3 years here, these mind-numbing ineptitudes have really only surfaced in the last 40 days. I saw a team playing pretty hard/decent football when we were 4-1, and have for the most part the last two years in spite of our deficiencies.

I GET it, trust me. I'm just not yet ready to throw in the towel. We've got a lot of young guys returning next year. In spite of our record, there is progress being made below the surface even if only game experience. Keep this recruiting class in tact. Open the new practice facility. Charge forward with Barker. Maybe beat Louisville?

I'm not completely done with Stoops as some of you guys are. He gets another year from me. Disappointed, angry, and concerned, but he's not a lame duck by any stretch. I still think we can beat Louisville. :flushed:

I'm disgusted and have zero confidence in him right now, but yeah… I'm still in. Definitely not all in anymore. But I think I'm right there with you.

Just give me fire, piss and vinegar and no monkeys humping footballs the last 2 games.

Kennard went to Duke because he was concerned about getting recruited over here. Plus the assistant high school coach that he had the closest relationship with hates Kentucky basketball and is a Duke/Ohio State fan who was also a big UC fan back in the 90's during Huggins. Kid was absolutely blown away on his Duke visit too. We pretty much had no chance after that official to Duke. Kennard is a great kid though, with solid character. He just didn't pick this school. There's a difference in being a 'big UK fan' and being born into it as a fourth generation fan and native Kentuckian.

The prep capital of Greater Cincinnati grows preppier still. Kenwood Towne Centre currently sports Sperry, Brooks Brothers, J. Crew, Lacoste, Lilly Pulitzer, and Kate Spade stores—and now you can add Vineyard Vines to the mix. If you’re a confirmed prep—or a prep-in-training—head to the clothing shop for pastel polos, cheeky bow ties, belts with, like, whales and stuff embroidered on them, and something called “Breaker Pants,” which we guess are supposed to evoke weekends on the shore and clam bakes with the Romneys. Someone get Ralph Lauren on the phone and tell him he’s missing out.

Pretty perfect, imo.

I don't think he'll get/deserves to be fired after this year. Just think the shine has worn off.

And I just don't trust the team's/staff's mental fortitude to beat UL in a must win game. That's what I get.

We gon murk Duke imo. Get on board, pussies.

Ha, think we will play well and pull out a nice W. Murray goes nuts and AP goes beast mode. Don't think Duke will be able to check him on the offensive glass. Grayson Allen will get his and consequently introduce himself to the nation as the next Duke *****. (his true personality didn't come out in the F4 despite him playing well in the final)

@Geese Feeder - if you ever need a place to crash after an ALL-DAYER, just holla.

Vinny Vines coming to Kenwood.

Eek. Hope they have some cute toddler gear because dad doesn't have the caysh to support his outrageous pastel wardrobe these days. Kids. Don't know how SAE does it.

What is Horton better at than Kemp, exactly?

Von Maur has an impressive Vinny Vines section...right next to the Tommy Bahama gear. Just don't have it in me to pay $80+ for a polo, not sure I ever will, regardless of financial situation.

...especially when you can get the same stuff (Vinny Vines included) at Stein Mart -- just have to get a bit lucky on the available selection.

Running straight up. He hit the hole (I guess) once Saturday and his point of contact was a good foot higher than a GD Vandy defender.

Honestly, I think we slip in fundamentals as the year goes on. Probably the biggest thing I've noticed. That is, of course, also a function of effort.

He's the most boring runner I can recall. Seems like he's in slow motion out there.

Rather have Alexis Bwenge.

Was going to reply in more detail, but as I kept reading, others already took care of that for me.

I irrationally hate Luke Kennard already and I'm pretty damn proud of it.

If he was a Kentucky fan and a non-***** he'd be at Kentucky. If I was a McDonald's All-American, I'd have been at Kentucky. Recruit over me if you want, if I can't keep up I wouldn't be in the NBA anyway. And no high school coach would have told me not to go to UK.

He's either a false UK fan or a *****, or (most likely) both. Either way, Eff him. No Kentucky fan should ever have to justify hating a kid who claimed to be a Kentucky fan and then went to Duke.

The last few games is why I always hated it whenever somebody said "if Stoops can't win here, nobody can."

********. It's entirely possible to be a great recruiter and a terrible head coach. (See Orgeron, Ed.)

Not completely giving up on Stoops yet, but it ain't looking good.

I'll own up to being this guy. Not that "no one" can win here, but Stoops is the best chance to win here because NO ONE can recruit at as high of level as he has over the past three years. We can go back to finding diamonds in the rough and coaching them up like Brooks did, but that got us a few 7 win seasons and bowl games in Tennessee. Which is fine and good, but Stoops is this program's best chance at closing the massive talent divide between UK and the rest of the conference.

If he doesn't cut it, I don't see a whole lot of reason for optimism in the next guy.

So for that reason, we better hope this MF'er gets **** right and does it quick.

Redshirt Tai Wynyard or nah
I don't really see the point in a redshirt during this era of Kentucky basketball. How many guys during the Cal era have been good enough to play in the rotation, but bad enough that they didn't end up going pro early? Harrelson and Poythress because he got hurt? Maybe add Willis to that list? It seems like there's a less than 10% chance that a redshirt ever matters.

I'm glad we've got until he gets here in December to decide though. If we can rebound without him, maybe you do redshirt him. Rebounding is kind of his calling card though, and it may be that we actually really need him down low this season on occasion.

^ this. He won't play, but redshirting is pretty pointless under Cal, non-injury.
