What a HUGE get Murray was for us. We knew what Ulis would bring but having that extra go-to option when we need a bucket is clutch.

In the immortal words of HOFCJVMFC, I like my team. Much to work on, especially with blocking out and rebounding. But we have some guards who are some damn gamers. This team is fun to watch.

Ulis is struggling this year...

My god, he basically pitched a perfect game, even with his 3pt having completely left him. Kid is just incredible.

THAT is what I want him to see, looking to score some. It's amazing how easy he can finish amongst the trees at his size, he can score pretty much whenever he wants.

Ulis's ability to stop from a dead sprint with the ball, never lose control, and dribble out of the trap is so damn smooth. And like bbdk said, he can flop shot in the lane with the best of them and needs to keep doing it. Auto from there; don't care if Davis is challenging him, it's going in

Ulis played the entire game and didn't look tired. Maybe he learned the Kung fu heart rate from Murray.

I don't see many teams being able to stay in front of us, if any. Just too many options at guard.

When the bigs learn to block out.....sheeeeeeeit. Ova.

Ulis will be able to play every damn minute of the season if he wants to. Murray and Briscoe handling the ball a decent chunk of the time let him relax.

We are absolutely going to MURK the bad teams with our guard play.

Some of you all have PTSD or something when it comes to Duke. "How will we guard them?" ****, how will they guard us? Are Allen, Kennard, Jones, etc. going to be able to stay out in front of Ulis, Briscoe, and Murray? How will they handle Poythress on the boards? Duke is consistently terrible defensively to start the season - particularly when it comes to dribble penetration. Which seems good for us, but maybe I'm crazy.
WHOOOOOO DA F*** IS THAT?

Didn't think we had that type of d in us.

Duke is really flawed. No PG, no inside O.

All 3 guards were amazing. Briscoe are Allen up. Grayson... lol.

I was ok with Poythress for his first real game back. Lee was awesome.

Had a friend get his two front teeth caught in the net (on a lowered goal) and he dangled there for a second before he fell, sans teeth. So, good thing Poythress didn't have that happen

Duke has a PG. His name is Thornton. He'll be running that show by March and Grayson Allen will be about the fourth or fifth option for them.

He's got a ways to go. Same with Ingram. Honestly if Doookkie doesn'tget those 9 put backs we run away.

Thing is we as much room to grow as anyone. Sheesh.

What a wonderful surprise. Thought we'd win, but didn't think it would look so easy in the process.

*ulis, tho. Shew.

*really nice to see Duke not flop *too* much and control the game through it.

Opinions on if that's because the refs didn't call it early and they jumped ship on it or if K is moving away from that?

Thoughts?

*I didn't really breathe easy until about 1:30 2H, but still. Lots of fun and a great distraction tonight.

*Walked the dog today after a late lunch and he didn't make it home. Coughed a couple times, got a little stiff, lay down and went to sleep. My guess is a massive MI or PE. For the first time I can remember, I literally had no idea what to do. My daughter was home sick today and I left her home to walk him. Didn't take my phone, so couldn't reach my neighbor to check on her. Knocked on two doors and finally borrowed a wheelbarrow from a construction crew doing an addition on a house. Got him home, wrapped him in his sheet, and got him to the vet.

Two in two months. :-(

* I loved the disrespect with which we guarded Duke. It's awfully easy to guard pick & roll stuff when the guy setting the pick isn't a threat to score, so we were able to give extra help to their perimeter dudes.

* And the by-product of that: 9 assists for Duke vs. 16 turnovers. Conversely, we had 15 assists and 9 turnovers because our guards were completely unfazed.

* Echo anybody who liked Thornton. They need to make that switch in a hurry if they are to hit their potential. Our guys made Grayson Allen look like...how most teams made Grayson Allen look last year.

* Duke needs a stretch 4 to run their stuff ideally. I guess that could be Ingram, but that's about 20 pounds away from happening. We took that dude totally out of the game.

* Marcus Lee played great. 22 doesn't quite have the lift with the ball in his hands that he ought to, but he still played his balls off. And he bit the net. !!!

* You other college basketballs can talk a lot prettier about our guards than I can, so go ahead. I can't right now. They're amazing. Guarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrds.

* Pretty surprised Duke didn't go with more zone. They probably stink at it in November since it's rarely in their gameplan, and then also when Duke did go zone, our fellas carved it like a Butterball turkey and either scored or got fouled every time. So maybe it shouldn't be as surprising that Duke didn't zone more. Kept waiting for that 1-3-1 that Seth Greenberg was talking about, but I don't think it ever surfaced.

* Of course, it could also have something to do with so many of our buckets coming with numbers. They did a great job of forcing live ball turnovers. This might be the best team we've had at that one specific thing since Pitino was here. And when we didn't turn them over and got defensive boards, it was rip and run. Love how Murray leaks back when he senses the defensive rebound. He's going to get so many layups doing that.

* We're good. Can't wait for my boy UK Basketball Live to archive that sucker. I'm watching it 4-5 more times this week.
