Pre-emptive TOUCH YOU to Chad who's clearly trying to be smooth and wait til the morning to provide some "cooler head/calmed down" randoms.

GFY. You'll get zero "likes' from me.
If he is still in a relationship tomorrow he should just go ahead and get married because she's a saint.

Points per Possession:

UCLA - 1.279
UK - 1.132

We played well enough on offense to win today. Field goal shooting was bad, but we did a good job taking care of the ball, getting to/converting at the line, and a decent job on the offensive glass.

That defense though...appalling. It was among the worst performances on that end of Cal's tenure.
Not arguing on the D but our offense was atrocious. Don't really care what that stat says.

It was early. Right after his layup. He would've helped on that annoying honk. No doubt about that. Still think we lose. We didn't show urgency until 6 minutes left.

Yeah, Fatguy is one of those analytic dweebs. I appreciate the information and it's useful..over a long sample size, I usually agree with it.

..but not moreso than watching the actual game. No stat can tell me our offense tonight was 'fine' or 'good enough to win' against any decent team. Sorry.

John once played Vargas and a freshman Wiltjer at the same time in an NCAA tourney game letting the other team cut a 12 point lead to 4, good thing he can recruit like a beast.

Yep, we hit a bunch of meaningless 3s late to inflate Fatguys numbers.

-I dont care if we post skal up so he can score, Im just baffled that the guy cant get offensive rebounds and putbacks to score some more. And Im dumbfounded that he has 3 rebounds in 30 minutes and is worse on defense than Willis. Having said that, this is the worst interior team Ive seen since Sheray Thomas played. Id give anything for Dakari Johnson.

-I also havent gotten the hype over Murray all year. Hes a nice player that doesnt do any exceptionally well. Hes a mediocre shooter, gets to the rim pretty well, doesnt finish all that well, isnt a great passer or ballhandler as we saw last game when he ran the point and was a joke. I think he is an above average college player, just now the "OMG HES BABY STEPH CURRY!!!! that many of you were screaming.

Rough Week, Shew.

UK football meltdown, mass shooting, UK Basketball meltdown, Scott Weiland dies, mountain lions in Kentucky...

Grateful we don't play again till the 9th. Just gonna chill this weekend. Maybe even color some.

It's going to be difficult to be good offensively when you're an awful shooting team with almost no low post scoring.

Teams will continue to pack it in, sag and or play a zone. We keep trying to drive but the clear lane isn't there bc teams are clogging the paint.

Team is very limited. UCLA is not a good team, folks. Period. And they dominated us from tip to buzzer.

-I think everybody knew this wasn't a juggernaut team like last season, and it may not be a top tier team this season. But it's easy to know that, but not quite accept it when you're still undefeated and ranked #1. This will be a season long development process, and that's okay. It's not a 2013 season. But there are maybe 6-8 losses coming.

The bright side is that the rest of the NCAA is pretty much mediocre as well. Kansas and UNC are obviously at the top...maybe Michigan St. After that it's a crap shoot.

Unless we develop a big like we did with Harrelson in 2011, this will be a long season. And that team had Jones as well. Our rebounding is atrocious.

Absolutely.

In 2011, Jones had the most talent but by the end of the year Knight and Harrellson were the two most important players. Like that year, this looks early to be a work in progress.

Skal will get better but right now he's awful. Humphries has potential and will likely play professionally somewhere but I doubt if he will be playing much come February.

It is up to Poythress and Lee to provide interior presence. If they can't, it will be a long year.

Willis as a stretch 4 makes a lot of sense for this team.

-Some weird reason the loss actually kind of felt like a bit of relief. I think I may have been harboring a some of the sentiments still from last season. Kind of an, "ok take a deep breath, we lost, we're really talented but a lot of raw, this isn't last season, that ***** over."

-Don't go off the deep end folks. We have bigs. 2 that will continue to get better. 2 that are upperclassmen. Skal is going to get A LOT better. I think Cal is really struggling to figure out how to use him and who to play with him. He probably needs to play more 4 even if Poythress is forced to play 5 along with Lee. Probably needs to play with Briscoe on the court for rebounding and entry pass denial.

-We have shooters, if Cal will play Willis... which he is going to have to do. Willis, Murray and Ulis. Really could use Mulder but I assume that's a lost cause.

-We knew going into the season we weren't the best team or at least nothing like last year. Were still in there though. We played a miserable game, it happens. I'm kind of sort of looking forward to a season without the crazy hype where we know it's going to be a bit of a process. Last 2 seasons we went in with 40-0 hype so emotions were all over the spectrum. This team we know we have a ways to go but they have the potential to be fun as hell.

-I LOVE coaches not being able to call timeouts. What a fantastic upgrade.

Bryce Alford's arm pit hair starts at his inner elbow and runs to the bottom of his rib cage. It's disgusting. NCAA should ban him from pumping up the crowd. TS.

Dotson at least got minutes & shots most every game on Cal's 1st team, can't imagine how horrible a player Mulder must look in practice

Sorry to be this guy, but can I get some help? Well, what the hell happened? I caught the last 10 minutes and by then we were already down 12 or so. Plus, I was heavily buzzed by that point from the free Woodford.

Does Lee have a concussion or what?

The boxscore doesn't really tell any story. They didn't hit a bunch of 3s. There was no discernible rebounding deficit. We didn't turn the ball over.

From what I saw, Ulis's elbow isn't right yet. Dude was clearly in pain.

Poythress looked like a p****. What else is new.

Murray was just jacking and looked like ****. Big disappointment thus far.

Skal- good gawd. Get the shoulder pads out, Cal.

How did Briscoe play? Saw he had 20.

Did Welsh just eat our lunch all night?

Meh, early December...I'll have a Coke and chill...

But as it looks in the NOW, ugh.

-I expected Skal to take a while to come around but his development may be slower than I thought. Cal has to design him some touches, he's clearly a kid that plays with more energy/confidence when he scores.

-I expected a year of good spacing, thought Ulis/Murray would shoot the 3 ball around a 40% clip and Briscoe would be serviceable. If those three are combining from behind the arc at 20%, this team will be in trouble, no matter what the month. This team can't do its thing, drive and kick, if no one respects the "kick".

And in revisiting the all-time favorite Calipari UK players...

1. MKG
2. John Wall
3. Anthony Davis

Tyler Ulis is a good kid, but let's not get carried away. That's the pantheon up there.

Remember the offensive issues we had in 13-14 down the stretch? We kept driving and driving and driving into a brick wall of defenders. That will continue to happen with this group until at Least 2 players prove to hit the outside shot consistently to soften up the defense.

Briscoe was fantastic...talk about a gamer. He gets the most out of what he has, which is pretty one-dimensional.

-I've calmed down. We have a LONG way to go -- but it was your typical early December complete clunker, all systems failure. Pretty much every team has one every year...except Kentucky many of these recent years.

We'll have some more, too. Luckily for us, the entire country is watered down. As it stands now though, we're maybe a top 10 team...maybe.

Skal is an obvious disappointment, but am I the only one nearly as disappointed in Murray? I'm not sure it's all his fault, but something has to give there...I don't give a **** about his stats (PPG, his actual stats are pretty ****** as well), he's looked pretty damn poor the majority of the year minus a few 3 minute stretches of going off.

-Ulis pushing Skal was the Play of the Game.

-Now maybe some of you "get" why I said for us to be at our best, Alex must be a "beast"? Pretty clear at this point I'd say.

It's got to be Murray. Ulis will get there once he's healthy. Murray has to be the outside ace for us to reach our potential and he hasn't been yet. I think that's been the biggest thing early in the year. We all knew Skal was going to take some time. We just haven't seen the Murray we thought we'd see.

So, what are the lineup options? Go with Willis more at the 4? Give Mulder 5-8 mpg for nothing but getting up a few 3s? Pop Skal out more instead of trying to make him a low post?

Murray is young and playing a completely different style than he's used to. Bilas hit on it last night. He's still understanding and figuring out the spacing, his role on the team, not being the lead guard and playing off the ball. Seems to be very coachable and intelligent, it'll click. Not surprising that a NYC kid is picking up faster than someone used to playing international ball.

The big thing is Ulis out there. That little dude is going to get the most out of this team before it's all over. Just like BBdk said, he flat ripped into Skal for missing that rebound.

left with 5 minutes to go judging by GYERO we lost. Did run into alba on the way out :fire:

Lots of UK fans in there. First time I can remember in a long time of a game with not one chance to stand up and be loud. Miserable game from start to finish. Glad I made it!

No kidding...Dakari would completely change this team. Ugh.

Still can't get over the fact we didn't make a single run, that blew my mind and was the main reason I was so furious. That game was over 5 minutes in.:weary:
