I think Matthews needs more clock. Granted he doesn't bring the offensive upside of our other guards but he brings an intensity and athleticism that no one else does. I know the bench is a great motivator but if it becomes a turnstile on and off the thing the message gets lost.

We worship plays, shows, etc. Go as much as we can.

Chad has never been to/experienced any REAL 'arts' in his entire life.

He da man when it comes to laugh track sitcoms & emo music tho. His tastes align perfectly with teenage women & dorks.

I don't agree. A quick google of NCAA brackets tells me...

They let Baylor be the #2 to Duke's #1 in Texas a few years ago.

And in 2011 San Diego State was the #2 to Duke's #1 in Anaheim.

When Cal was at Memphis, his #1 seeded team had Texas as their #2 in Houston.

So, it's possible.

Yeah, but the difference is a game at Yum would basically be a home game for us and punish the one seed. None of those other circumstances are quite the same because our fanbase is different. Baylor or San Diego State aren't bringing 20,000 strong to a game. The NCAA knows any game Kentucky plays in Louisville will mean 19,000 Kentucky fans present. They won't give us that kind of advantage over another team ranked ahead of us.

It's a really great day when you realize what someone who you thought was your good friend for the last 13 years REALLY thinks about you. I'll remember this one, bro.

Stolen from KSR:

I felt like my time here was maybe up.
I was kind of ready for a new start and a new beginning,” Towles said. “I feel like I got every single opportunity to succeed. I feel like Coach Stoops and Coach Dawson did a wonderful job of putting me in a position to succeed and I don’t feel like we did. I felt like we left some plays out there and didn’t necessarily execute.”

Patrick admitted that he didn’t want to transfer, but “at the end of the day, you’ve gotta make a decision for yourself.”

“I thought maybe a situation would be better for me somewhere else. I think the university and the football team is in great hands with Drew and Coach Dawson and Coach Stoops and they’re going to be fine, but as far as for me, at the end of the day, like you said, I love Kentucky and I love my teammates and I love everything about it. You know, I don’t want to. I didn’t want to transfer. I wanted to stay and finish up here at UK, but at the end of the day, you’ve gotta make a decision for yourself and do something for you and I felt like that was the best decision for me.”

We had heard that Patrick made the decision to leave after the Charlotte game, although he maintains that the decision wasn’t final until after the Louisville game.

“All good things have to come to an end eventually and after the Louisville game, I kind of felt like it was my time. I’m not too fired up about it because I love this university and I’ve given everything I have to the program and the college and I felt like somewhere else would be a better fit for me for next year.”

Matt asked Patrick about the rumored divide in the locker room, which some have speculated came down to Patrick vs. Drew, but Patrick downplayed it, citing UK’s slide at the end of the season as a failure to execute.

“That wasn’t really a thing,” Towles said of the divide. “I love my teammates and everyone has issues. All families have problems. Families have to deal with those problems. Not everybody loves each other, but that’s the case everywhere. You’re not going to find a football team where everybody is everybody’s best friend. Is that the reason for our slide at the year? No. We just failed to execute.”

Now that he’s leaving the program, does Towles have faith in Mark Stoops? Despite everything that’s happened, yes, he does.

“I think so. It’s hard, I’m not going to say it’s easy to be positive, but you have to be. I think Drew is going to do a wonderful job, he’s a terrific player. Coach Stoops is getting the pieces in place and Coach Dawson, I think, is a really good coach.”

Going forward as a fan, Patrick closed by encouraging the Big Blue Nation to keep the faith.

“I think we have to be optimistic. I’m going to be optimistic. Wherever I do end up, I’m going to be watching every football game that Kentucky plays and I’m going to be a fan from this day forward. I’m excited as a fan and a former player because they have the pieces to get it done. If they go execute like I know they can, they’ll be fine.”

We’ll be rooting for you too, Patrick.

Hard not to root for that kid, wish him well.

I think we need to pump the breaks on our seeding and see how this cake bakes. These guys aren't computers.

Well we can only bash 18 and 19 year old kids so much and having a discussion about music tastes is about as productive and fun as an abortion debate, so I figured I'd bring it up. Basically if we're a 2, 3 or 4 seed we can kiss the Yum Center goodbye.

I'm fine with Matthews as long as he's not in a line up like Hawkins, Ulis, Poythress and Humphries.

cawood - Okay, I've played enough this past year, and improved enough where I think getting measured for clubs is worthwhile. I'm not gonna drop a ish ton of money though. Custom knockoffs are fine. Just want them to fit properly (standard length shafts feel a tad short for me etc.)

Where in Lexington do I go?

I wouldn't mind seeing -

Ulis
Murray
Matthews
Poythress
Humphries

Plenty of size and athleticism. Let Humphries pick and pop with Ulis and Murray. Might be a solid, traditional looking unit.

Errybody pretty much played like **** with a couple exceptions, UCLA played the best they are capable of on their home court, and we were a defensive stop and a made 3 from maybe making it a game.

Concerned, but not worried yet.

I remember the day we met wcc. He drove down from Cincinnati to BBdKs old apartment in the Summit.

When he rang the doorbell, BBdK ran over and sized him up via the peephole in the door. He walks in, and the first thing he says is: "you're pretty fit, dude. You work out?"

True story. What a *****.

The crew played their OWN rap songs on the way to the bar. BBdK asked me if I wanted a shot and bought me a lunchbox. Most peculiar group of people I'd ever met.

Golf Exchange is where i'd go. Set up a club fitting for a small fee, then they will credit that amount towards your purchase.

I bought a "custom" set of knock-offs from Gigagolf last year and they have been great for me. (I'm a bogey golfer and played once this year - the day after Thanksgiving, last week.)

man o war golf has a program similar. Pay for he fitting, get that amount applied to your purchase. They have a $200 option, which will fit you for all 14 clubs, shafts, grip size, loft/lie, etc.

Was actually looking at that as well. Please don't tell me what kind of clubs you are getting, I'd just hate it if we got the same thing.

Cal should go with his two team splits like last year and get some experience and cohesion. Murray needs to be that lead guy when he is in for some reason and seems to struggle with the adjustment.

Ulis, Briscoe, Willis, Skal, Lee

Murray, Matthews, Mulder, Poythress, Humphries

At the end of the game sub Murray for which ever 6'10 starter is playing like a *****!

Willis may be easy to post because he is 6-10 170 but he is awesome in the full court press and playing passing lanes. I don't get the "he's lost on defense" crowd except in the post, but his offense for this team would outweigh any negative he brings defensively. Willis is perfectly described by having the talent and ability to play with the one's, or dominate the two's..........but if he doesn't think you believe in him he walks on egg shells and can't help but overthink it.

I think it was pretty much the consensus on this thread the AP needed to be a 4 and just work on D, snagging boards, and finishing around the rim.

We all hoped his overall bball skills would improve over time but it just isn't happening. He's an odd case study of a player, that guy...I mean, dude can almost put his head on the rim without even bending his knees to jump (even post injury). But, as bbdk noted, he'll sky for a board, gather himself, go up and over a defender (all the hard stuff is done), then just toss it off the glass with the touch of a blacksmith. I'm really at peace with who Alex is at this point, I don't even get worked up about his spin-under-the-basket-get-stuff-or-hit-the-bottom-of-the-backboard move. It's like the Antwain Barbour catch-the-ball-and-take-two-steps-before-dribbling walk, going to happen once to twice a game, just deal.

Murray and Skal, this team's ceiling will be dependent on them getting **** right, everyone else pretty much is who they is. They both are basically HS seniors and are still learning the names of their teammates, I'm willing to give it some time.
