-Top Podcast (actual episodes) recs for the marathon Christmas driving? Best 'This American Life' episodes...or mysteries? Anyone ever gave Criminal a shot?
I listen to Criminal, but it is not that great.

You might like Radiolab.

I think the GOAT podcast episode is improv4humans #184 4/20 Special. But it is comedy.

As always, you should listen to my James Bond movie podcast, "Double Joe Seven." (Skip episode 1, maybe.)

^ No thx, sounds terrible.

What's that Louisville burger episode someone mentioned?

May have to go with Handel on the Law.

Or House on Loon Lake.

-Seems BradyJames is with you, Anth. Sounds like a good move. Enjoy!

Yes Adrian, Jamal definitely looked sneaky. Zero UK gear, Team Canada backpack. Also he was crouching down behind the airport benches shifting his eyes side to side.

Maybe "The Moth" or "Death, Sex & Money" re: the podcasts... surely there a few of each of those that might be interesting enough to kill some of the drive time.

"Totally Beverages and Sometimes Hot Sauce" is good.

"The Moth" is like if every objectionable waiter/bartender (from annoying subcultures) of Richie's past got together to tell stories and recorded it. It sucks a big one, imo.

Bbdk, the Louisville burger episode is a recent freakonomics episode. I think it's called "the cheeseburger diet." It's a good listen, but she's an infuriating simpleton. Uses idiotic criteria in ranking the burgers. And just wait till the host talks about his secret to a great burger involving pressing the spatula down on it. I almost threw my phone.

Give "A Way With Words" a listen. It's about the etymology of words and phrases.

Thanks for the tip on the Beatles, I wrote their name down on my hand for later.

"The Allusionist" is a pretty good one on language.

99% Invisible is good one on design, but there isn't a mystery/crime element at all.

"Double Joe Seven": also very, very good. Production value through the roof, really. Can't stress that enough.

Not Gonna lie, Mr. Bilas tweeting out your work is pretty trill.. :scream:

That's kinda awesome.

Here's a Bill Raftery story for you:
He came to speak at the annual fundraiser dinner for what is X's equivalent of the K-Fund in August. I didn't interview him (but I did operate the camera while someone else did!). Then he heckled me for about 5 minutes while I struggled to get golf on the wall of TV's in our office for him.

- I know this weather isn't Christmas-y, but damn is it so much easier to deal with parking two miles away from every store you go to when it's this lovely out.

I can vouch for Double Joe Seven. You have to have at least a passing understanding of entertainment/culture outside of rap, food, and Dateline tho

This American Life is good, but they archive very few (usually just 1) episodes. Occasionally, when a related podcast is relevant, or if s certain episode is referred to, they'll post it for the week.

Having said that, very few episodes have underwhelmed.

*99% invisible, stuff you should know, TED radio hour, freakinomics, Tim Ferriss show, and stuff you missed in history class occupy most of my listening.

*73-66 cats. Late three and a few FTs ice it. Ulis with 16 and 7a. Lee with a 10 and 10 effort.

*Love the kids' excitement at this moment. Gonna watch Home Alone and put them in bed.

*Merry Christmas, GYERO

This is pretty awesome from Boogie. For the younger folks I'll add the original commercial concept from Mean Joe.

If you don't enjoy this weather and do something outside, please GGP. Thanks.

[eyeroll]

Please tell us exactly what you & your family are doing outside on Christmas Eve/Christmas to take advantage of this OMG AMAZING weather? Grilling out? Volleyball game? Pool party? Playing Tag? Golf Scramble with the fam? Setting up tents out back, camping, and having Christmas in the yard?

Get real, idiots. There isn't one advantage to it being 65-70 degrees in Kentucky ON CHRISTMAS, not one. It sucks.

I want it cold 1 week per year. Doesn't even feel like Christmas. Meh. Give me mid 30s with a light dusting. Perfection.

Next week sunlight from 8a-9p and 80 degrees, tho.

I'm good with that, but you're correct that it doesn't feel like Christmas. Just not right, oh well.

I'm gonna start a podcast where I review each day's gyero and rank the posts. SPOILER b rax wins

BBdK loses big time for his weather comments. Maybe just go outside and sit. Watch the fauna. The squirrels are loving this weather. Have you seen the daisies? They think it's spring. It's crazy. Maybe take your dog outside and play with him. Maybe fill your yeti up with ice and stick it up your ***.

I can honestly only remember a handful of times it actually snowed (or there was snow on the ground) on Christmas.

The biggest snag (to me) is that it'll be too hot for my parents to build a fire in their giant fireplace, which always added to the Christmas uh.. atmosphere? Ambiance? I don't know the word for it, but with a herd of small children running around they probably wouldn't have had one anyway.

F is for Family popped up on Netflix today. Didn't see it last night, so think it might be new. A ridiculous animated depiction of a blue collar 1970s family. So bad it's kinda funny.

My girlfriends father called us from the golf course in Arizona, he stays out that way during the winter. Nothing says Merry Christmas like an impersonal phone call from someone getting ready to tee off haha!

He gets on her nerves, but I think he's great. His idea of affection is a check.

what a week. had to cancel our scottsdale trip (to see my brother) at the last minute when dad went in for open heart surgery on friday. we got into lexington late sunday, and he finally came home yesterday and is doing great.

used the kentucky trip as a chance to see everyone we could. so 2000+ miles of driving in 5 days later, were almost home. ugh.

we should do waffle house for dinner, right?

Welp, in-laws came over to my folks' place for Christmas dinner about an hour ago. My folks have two dogs, and our beagle traveled down with us too. Well their formerly wild golden retriever who used to live on a farm and hunted for his own food before they "rescued" him (from what, I'm not sure) decided to revert back to his non-domesticated self and attacked my dog when she went to greet the in-laws. She lost quite a bit of blood. Fortunately the FIL is a vet and wrapped her up pretty well, currently sitting at the emergency vet waiting to see if she needs surgery. I mean there are worse things but I'm definitely worried.

Brought my shotgun down with me to shoot clays a couple days ago. Told my mom if she wants to have two golden retrievers after tonight then she better hide my shells. I never liked that dog to begin with.
