Late, but it never ceases to amaze me when UK football fan can't/won't empathize with Bengals fans. I mean, if there's any other fan base that should get it...
Chumps and the bandwagon cry make it really hard to.

i was wondering which gym tough guy would be the first to get all territorial and pissy over "his" gym in the new year. congrats, anth. did you drop a "bro, DO YOU EVEN LIFT" in his face? it's your gym, broski. tell those dudes to get pumped.

I didn't think I could've been any more facetious. But congrats on missing the point. Very excited at the probability of a coonass selling you a fake ticket tomorrow.

Rolleyes at "THIS IS OUR GYM" guy. You are no more entitled to the gym than any other paying member, anth & coolcat. In fact, the hierarchy you thought existed at the monthly membership facility is actually a pretty strange illusion of yours. You may want to take some time off, actually.
I was being facetious bud. Mocking the exact people you're taking about. There were 5 people total in my gym today. Not exactly a crowd for a 20k ft gym. I've been lifting for like 3 weeks and I'm weak as hell.

I was a sucker for mid 90's corny UK shirts. Worshiped.

1. "Can't see the Forest because of the threes."
2. LSU comeback "don't ever give up."
3. Bombinos
4. The Road to Seattle:weary:
5. 95 SEC SECT Champions. Fought harder for that shirt than anything on my life.

If you HAD to pick a gyero person that wears zumbas to the gym, carries a milk jug full of water, wears gloves and grunts, but has only been lifting for 3 weeks, is anybody picking anyone Other than Anth?

I think more people would actually stick with the gym if they actually had any idea what to do or had some sort of real plan. Most people have no clue and won't ask for help. Wife and I were there yesterday and watched a very obvious resolutions couple walking in. I told her before we ever got out of the truck that the guy would do bench and curls. Sure enough. Dude pushing 400 pounds- 1 set of flat bench, 1 set of lat pull down, 1 set of bicep curls. No weight re-wracked. Done. That was the extent of his anaerobic workout. If that guy actually had some sort of plan or program, he might see promising results that encourage him to remain active.

Pretty much. Then they think people are judging them for being new because they get sh*tty looks when they don't put their weights back where they belong ---> people are mad because you aren't picking up after yourself and leaving **** all over the place. Has *nathan* to do with being new, out of shape, or clueless to lifting...

Also, it takes a special kind of dick to get pissed off because a new gym goer is on 'his' machine.
If someone is just hovering on it then asking to work in is acceptable...but being flat out pissed because someone is new and hasn't gotten the memo on reserving Hamilton's bicep curls machine is a bit ridiculus.

rob:

12 minutes on elliptical (level 2)
a few rounds on the sit-up machine
quick game of raquetball (vs old man wearing knee pads)
a light set or two on the bicep curl machine

retreat to men's locker room to watch fox news.

My point is that the new folks who show up largely give up because they have no real plan for getting in shape and won't seek more information. That guy from Sunday is not going to get in any better shape, is going to become frustrated and is going to give up. His health will remain lousy and he will be a burden on the health care system. He might have had a chance at real success though if he bothered to actually develop a workout plan or consult a trainer or even watch some YouTube videos. Anyone with access to Google and the internet can find something that suits them. Almost no one does that though. Bench. Curls. Walking track. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

Yea, it's sad. Poor Fats. Maybe start a kickstarter and hire a trainer so he can be at your gym leaving donut sweat on your machines.

Zero excuse not to have some sort of plan going forward. Nowadays I think it is pretty commonplace for gyms to offer a free 1 hour 'getting started' session with a trainer. Just like everything else in life its going to come down to whether the person actually wants to better themselves or whether the membership was a gift from family members not so subtly encouraging you to UNfat.

I think most people don't understand what that 1-hour with the trainer means. They think they're going to get the hell beaten out of them instead. I do think gyms would be better off helping people set up a plan, but from a business perspective are they better off getting Sally Sue to come in, sign a 1 or 2 year contract and then stop coming in after about 2 months since it's almost guaranteed that a new batch of Sally Sue's will show up next year and do the same thing.

There's a really good Planet Money podcast about gyms like Planet Fitness who's goal is to get lots of people signed up without them ever actually using the gym.

People will never go to work out but they still feel like they're still getting something out of their membership when they go to pizza night once every couple of months.

- Buddy Hield is so good.

- I don't think Kansas has missed a 3 all year. Don't completely trust their guards but they're the team to beat.

- Phog will be 10x as turnt against us. Touchers HATE us.

- Haven't seen many performances as dominant as Brice Johnson's against the Noles. They have nothing inside but jeez louise- kid just ate them up. 39&23. lol

- Can't believe I'm saying this but Musberger/Vitale actually kind of works.

- Smart tech there, Self.

- Hield with 21 in the 1H.

Still hurts how Chad has walked away from Chris Harrison. By far his best takes were from the Bachelor...you do you bro.

Not a great time, no. I thought the ref was a bit quick on the trigger for Self. Personally I would've T'd up Mason for throwing a little fit before Self.

Actually only cost them a point in hindsight. I was wrong. That was definitely T-worthy, though. He was in the ref pretty hard.

Been a member of about every effing gym out there... Even joined a plush one with VIP locker room and ****... Ended up paying $75/nth to do a few curls, bench, end up walking on the treadmill in the movie room or lounging by the outdoor pool in the summer. Fun, but Biggest waste of "workout" money ever.

Only one that's ever worked is D1 Sports, expensive, but worth every penny especially considering it's a personal trainer experience that is basically training you like a Division 1 athlete by a D1 athlete usually. Went back to it a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier

Doesn't hurt your effort to have a 6'3" 265 lb monster pushing your *** either...

Kansas has just locked down on D down the stretch. Helluva game. Big shot from Woodard.
