Can't believe we lost to that dogshit team last night. Auburn. They're awful. Good grief.

Need something else sports wise in my life besides driving myself insanely on the edge once every 3 years during a title run & the comedy rerun that is Kentucky Football.

Thought about adopting a NFL team.

Dakari's family financial situation played into his decision. Plus with Skal en route he probably figured he'd come off the bench again.

They switched everything with their half court d yesterday and ulis couldn't take advantage against their bigs. In hindsight, we maybe should've given Murray the ball in pick/roll to see what he could've done against them.

Seemed like a dumb strategy daring our guards to win the game but their bigs are quick and played d out their *** and it payed off. Ulis had an off night and should've had 30 the way they were playing him.

Fouling down 3 with 43 seconds left is mind boggling to me too.

Uh, no.

Wall is one of the best PGs in the world, but he wouldn't be any savior on THIS team. What would he be doing, 28 & 12?

So we actually have people claiming that taking a top 5 PG, coach on the floor, who has the highest basketball IQ of any Cal Era player and we turn him into a 5'8" shooting guard

All so that we can have an awesome penetrator/finisher that is one of the all time worst UK shooters for his position moved to the top of the key to set other people up (who aren't near the finisher he is) and shoot open jumpers.

Yeah, let's weaken two positions to fix our problems

Nothing more frustrating when you go to set it and then the guard leaves space you can drive a truck through.

Yeah, those poor bigs. Might be the reason they've been playing so poorly, come to think of it. Didn't think AP was the spiteful type of dude to dog it when Murray doesn't make the best use of his half-*** moving ball screen.

Dude has really forgotten basketball now that he's the world's biggest Reds/Euro Soccer fan.

73 is right that there is a high correlation between success and having point guards taller than tyler ulis.

probably helps to point out that every point guard ever was taller than ulis.

Well, yeah, when you say it like that it sounds dumb. You're forgetting we're also going to start Wynyard. That's the key to the entire plan. His rebounding and passing are going to lead to more of a fast breaking, fast-paced offense. That's going to give us the ability to full court press a la 1996. Also his outside shooting is going to force teams to break out of their zones against us, and his court vision and leadership are going to inspire Skal into becoming the Anthony Davis we all know he can be. #teamtweak

So why bring in Wynard if we don't play him? Why waste the spot with what looks to be a major log jam next year?
Insurance and not a lot of great big men in this class. Bam joined, Bolden may join but we weren't sure either would happen. If there is a log jam he has 3 years to help later if he doesn't earn minutes next year. Surely he plays soon and we either know he can help some or immediately know he's a longer project.

Wynard = Cousins

COME ON CAL DONT YOU WANT TO WIN THE HOLE FING THING?!?!!??

Some of you need to relax and take Bob Knight's advice here. When you're getting raped, just lay back and try to enjoy it.

And wtf would JW add to this team other than a worse 3P% than Ulis? More reason to pack the paint and make he and Briscoe jack up 3's missing 80% of them? Yep that would fix this team fo sho.

Been watching Bam videos all day.

He is seriously infinity better right now as an 18 yr HS senior than Lee and Poythress combined. Dude loves contact and tries to rip the rim off.
For anyone interested, Bam's team plays monday at 5'oclock on ESPNU. They play Chino California in a tourney up east. I watched them both play here in Fort Myers Christmas week.
Chino has 3 brothers 6-6 senior Lonzo Ball, 6-5 junior LiAngelo Ball, and 5-10 Freshman Lamelo Ball.
All 3 have verballed to UCLA. They are a blast to watch play.

Probably close to it. Especially as a Sophomore, as Ulis is. I would say 22/7/7 wouldn't be unreasonable on this team. He certainly would score and rebound more.

Well let's just keep throwing up bricks from the wing/baseline and let a 5'8" guard create for himself to score against bigger guards while everyone else packs the lane because our bigs suck and one of our guards can't hit the broad side of the barn. I'd rather have the guy who can't shoot distributing to players who can score. That's just me though.

Obviously what you prefer works!

Tyler Ulis shooting more as a SG doesn't fix our 21 feet of suck, it's that simple, no need to overthink or analyze it. We don't have players out of position, we have players out of their depth

Play Ulis at the 2 = we should play zone

Cal won't do it because it's not "players first" and not what helps them reach their NBA dreams. Even if it would help the team (and I don't think it would), Ulis isn't going to play SG in the future, so it won't get done here. I've become convinced that Cal has zero interest in zone defense because it's of no use at the pro level.

I would have liked to have seen how Ulis might have done at the end of last year... or perhaps let Towns show off that outside shot. For better or worse, we rode with the Harrisons and with Towns being chained to the block. We almost made history, so I guess that's why HOFCJVC makes the big bucks.

It's the need for consistent inside play and the lack thereof. Sure, it would be handy to have Cousins, Jones, AD, MKG, Noel, Randle, Towns, WCS or Dakari. We have what we have and we're loaded for next year. It's fun to "what if" it to death, but... damn. We've had 3 Cal seasons of 9+ losses and we're on pace for another, but we're in the mix for all of the best recruits, as well as no AFAM studies and no whores. Euton, Zollo and KCRM all believe that it could be worse.
