Got a conference in Vegas in May. Sat-Wed. Staying at The Cosmo. Should be dope.

Big thumbs up here. Cosmo is heaven.

Marquee Dayclub. Goodness.

Back when Cosmo mistakenly thought I was a baller (mistaken identity by casino pit boss FTW) I was getting mailings every other week offering 3+ nights, $2k in casino chips, few hundo for food, etc. Finally pulled the trigger on one of those offers last year for my buddy's bachelor party...guess when I didn't drop five figures they realized I'm really a poor. Pure **** offers since, though I still get the free rooms.

- Riots are exactly what's wrong with America......no one listens until your a big enough problem that you have to be dealt with, but then when your dealt with usually it's not in a way that betters your situation. All around proving that ignorant people are just really good at dragging good people to their level and that never does anyone any good.

- For the Locals, Oaks is the way to go because the crowd is overwhelming for the folks that are t looking for the party. Plus the vets get their bets in for derby at the oaks, enjoy a better more laid back crowd, and no waits for drinks/bets/lines in or out of Churchill. That said, the derby is what it is and if that's your thing, kudos! Never had a bad time down there.

- Derby parties are the best, of course house gambol can not be topped as it is the funnest part of derby period whether it's $2 pots, or just house bookie.

- Have enjoyed the NBA Playoffs. UK players everywhere and makes me think how fun it would be in Louisville if these idiots would get over themselves and their hopes of this being a college town. It's not, never will be, and as aggresive as we are as a city in getting corporations in here someone with power should relay that message to Floyd Street.

- Cooking show Chopped has been awesome.

- Went to start the grill this weekend, no go.....perfect excuse to dump the gas grill and upgrade. Apparently the wife had talked to the 5 yr old about getting daddy one for Father's Day already, and the secret is now out. Awesome!! Except for the wait.

I wouldn't expect a guy that pushes term life insurance to understand why oaks isn't better than Derby.

Anyone else watch Naked and Afraid? The lass and I enjoy it and occassionally you get some real winners.

This week has some 38 yr old chick from good old Louisville, Ky with a giant tattoo to the right of her *** on there being a complete c*nt. In the beginning dude asked her how hot it gets in Louisville normally..."Ummm, around 108, 110"

Before she was introduced to him, she was undressing talking about no problem being nude and laying next to stranger.. "Won't be the first time, haha"

Good lord

I don't know you, but from the responses you get around GYERO my guess is a daddy's boy that rides coattails for living and looks down upon those that, you know spend hard earned money, spends his time at Derby just to be seen as a "success" moreso than the good time, electric atmosphere, and actually enjoying the event.

But to each their own, hope you got a small nose bud.

Barnstable Brown. Good luck!

Yeah I assumed that was the flagship, not paying $1200/ea to go there.

Sounds like the Ferdinand's ball and some other newer options could be fun. I guess that was more what I was getting at.

Mulder bouncier than I thought. Like the idea of he and Matthews on the wings the next two years.

Just read an article on Baffert preparing his two favorites for the Derby and reminded me of March:

“I’m on edge,” Baffert said last week in California. “And I’m sure I’ll stay on edge. There’s a lot of anxiety, but it’s a good anxiety. It’s just amazing that I have two top caliber horses in my barn this year.”

(There are other ways to put this. Several weeks ago I texted Baffert a few questions and at one point I asked if he was doing a lot of knocking on wood, racetrack superstition for any trainer with good horses in the barn. Baffert shot back: “Holding onto my balls.” Sure enough, a potential third Baffert starter, Santa Anita Derby runner-up One Lucky Dane, was injured in a workout and pulled out of the Derby. In racing, there is not enough wood to knock and there are not enough balls to hold.)

I've been there, Bob. I was just there.

-Stone linen 2 button, pink shirt, pink tie and I'm think royal blue pants for Oaks. May go brown or navy. Probably drivers so I don't tear my feet up both days.
-Blue check linen 2 button, blue shirt, grey woven tie, navy slacks, fresh pair of Italian wing tips I've been eyeing for 2 years(feet are going to be like hell on Sunday).

Fine line b/w dressed for Oaks/Derby and dressed like an idiot. Saw a guy in a nice seersucker jacket last year, good looking shirt/tie and shorts. No. Just no.

-Thursday is the best for locals. Oaks is the best for lames and out of towners. Derby is the best for non-pussies. Why would you even attend an event like that if you 1. don't like to drink, 2. don't like drunks, 3. don't like crowds or lines? Any of the days this week are going to be crowded and full of rooks and drunks. Go next Thursday if you want short lines and such.

-Never been to any of the big parties. The day at the track is plenty of eventing for this guy, even early on. Can't imagine 11-7 at the track, dinner then 10-4a at some party. That being said Russ R and his boys apparently throw the big after BSB party. For me it's track, dinner, St Matts.

I know that Gyero is L'ville/Lexington centric, but growing up the Derby had no meaning to anyone I knew. It was something that I might watch because I recognized it as an important event, but no more so than say a game 7 NHL playoff game. My memories of Derby prior to college were standing around waiting to take prom pictures with it on in the background. I appreciate the tradition and pageantry but reading these flashbacks to times of yore make me envious of those that have that connection. I can't even fake my nostalgic look backs other than to think of a couple drunken Saturdays of simulcast betting out at Keeneland. Got to make it out to Churchill some day.

In my dream world I like visiting from time to time a national media outlet will do to UL athletics what Deadspin did to Jason Whitlock yesterday

- I've lived in South Central Ky almost the entirety of my life, 4 years in Lexington. The Derby has ALWAYS been a huge event for me. Then again my family is full of proud Kentuckians and people who like to have a good time.

We just offered Shaun Kirk, a NCSU commit?

And we aren't scrambling?

K.

Must be good news on the horizon re: Brown and/or Diallo! Mulder helps but damn...This sucks.

With two older brothers (4 and 8 years older) our house was always full of 5 - 15+ college kids crashing there Friday and Saturday. Oaks night was the big night. Pretty much had a fraternity party in our walkout basement/backyard every year. Kegs, liquor, babes... Heady stuff for a young man to witness. The next morning there were bodies everywhere. Looked like the aftermath of Gettysburg.

My folks were good sports and would always accommodate, including when it was my time. Derby breakfasts, emergency transportation, etc. Good memories.

Derby is, and always will be pretty dope.

I don't think we have a shot in hell at Brown.

I don't mind taking a Kirk to fill out the roster. Could be a good player eventually. I just hope we don't have to depend on him for much this year. I'd like to add a player or 2 like him every year to come in with our OADs.

I don't like having to snag them because the OAD targets chose to go elsewhere.

Diallo would be the biggest "get" if Mulder commits as expected. If not 100% sure Murray doesn't stay 2016.

Frankly at this point I'd be surprised if the basketball team wins more games than the football team this year. :(:(:(

Yet you seem to have found it. Disappointed.

Wonder if anth and TMFH have exchanged notes on the 'DERBY WEEK SPORT COAT SALE' at Stein-Mart?

Only $59.99!!

I didn't get a chance to respond the other day, but kudos to whoever brought up Anth and Idol hour country club. I got a big chuckle.
Can you imagine him at the IHCC bar talking to those chaps about his lowered Monte Carlo he had in highschool. And then Sloot rolls in with her sunbrella like Scarlet O'Hara.
Yep I can definitely see IHCC recruiting them hard. No doubt.
