This place got me through grad school. Then I didn’t log in at all from work for years and then started popping in only during tournaments. Then I got so depressed I couldn’t read this place starting about 2019?

I’m a terrible poster and a nerd. But then you all have tolerated UCL and he’s a dork too.

Joined HOB apparently in Nov 2006.

Don’t think my first GYERO post was made until 2011ish.

Until about 2017ish you simply couldn’t post during the day, but as a lot of those regulars drifted off it’s gone from night shift and weekends only to whatever.

Was TOWCHOP or something like that the precursor to GYERO?

I’ll post this while sounding like a dorky old white guy: back in the 90s, you’d hear these rappers blurt out “WODIE.” Our boy BBdK jumped all over it, being the Afro centric dude that he is. Just tossed it into his everyday language.

Eventually we began to call him “Wodie” as a nickname, and it’s stuck over 25 years. We affectionately referred to ourselves in the college/early post college years as “The Wodie Crew.”

And here we are.

So andypolleydotcom once started “The Official Wodie Crew Holler Post.” Went a few pages. I think "Random Post of the Day" came first after that, and then GYERO.

I spend way too much time reading GYERO but it's very entertaining and I appreciate it's longevity and long time contributors. I started following when cliff hawkins had asthma

I need to pay my entry fee for the Bryant bracket challenge if someone could provide the link thanks

I'm sure many remember the old format, where the limit was 20 pages and then someone would need to start a new one.

Back then it was the Wild Wild West, kind of like the current situation with NIL. Almost anything goes.

IIrc, at its peak, there were a few times where 20 pages would accumulate in ONE DAY. Crazy and at times, it was hard to keep up.

Don’t remember if it was 20 page max, but it would usually get AIDS, Especially if someone tried to post a pic without resizing.

Been following you entertaining bastards since 2010ish, right before we started our glory run. Used to peruse INSIDEDAVILLE message boards too, that smack board was a whole lotta fun.

I think this is my 40th or so post now, so I'm a bonafide lurker....but damn if I haven't checked this thread every day since I started.

Those “road trips” to other rivals boards were pretty fun. That FSU guy stayed around here for a yr or two.

That had to be almost 15 - 20 yrs ago. 😳

I think the oldest posts I recall involved 'snackdown' posts where the OG's would compare what they had for lunch. Adjectives like "gumbified" and "WAF" were in heavy use. BBdK spelled out the initials in that original username, I believe.

Lots of entertainment over the years. Remember these Xtranormal videos?

I vaguely remember brudjazz and bluebubbles. I'm a member of an old nerd board too. Crazy how time flies.

I also checked in at one time when I was going through a divorce and I remember someone cracking a joke about my ex wife getting waxed in lexington. Ironically enough, I'd seen her that night trying to chat up Erik Daniels in Drake's after me and a buddy had grabbed a steak at Malone's.

I miss lexington but only one of my close friends still lives there. I don't think my ex even lives there now. I left in 2012.

I used to post photos from our weekend adventures every Monday morning. Haven’t done that in ages but I have some gems in my Shutterfly account.

I joined in fall ‘02 when @TheShowKiller told me about all my college buds posting on a message board. I had moved to Nashville and missed everyone. My name is Wodie Sloot since they called ALL females “sloot” and I was in the Wodie Crew. It’s still hard to actually explain that to my mom.

In 2005, @anthonys735 thought I was a guy when posting about strategies to get 2006 Maui Invitational tickets/hotel rooms. He asked me to email him if I figured it out. Then @catfan in loserville (his cousin who I grew up with) suggested we meet in person. So we did at the 2005 UL tailgate/game. He brought the crew homemade Italian sausage and in return, @PTI (pti) spit a Jell-O shot on him . The rest is history.

I started posting on the network on KentuckyPreps in late 2000 or early 2001 as a high schooler. My username came from something we did in the student section during free throws it so old. I knew CatsPause from the magazine and stumbled upon here when I was trying to Google the CatsPause preseason basketball rankings for the 12th Region. Mostly read Rafters when it was just the basketball forum until my sophomore year of college when I saw someone I knew from high school posting in here. I was one of the youngest posters at the time and now I'm 40...

It's crazy to think about by I probably never meet my wife without posting here. I was only in Lexington for an internship, all of my roommates graduated were moving away, I didn't want to move away and was searching everywhere for a roommate and ultimately ended up living with Will for a year in the most Odd Couple relationship possible, if not for that I was heading back home for work. That was the year I ended up becoming friends with my wife's brother.

Some memories off the top of my head:

Tommy peeing on windows
MikeWilbanks Grandma having a heart attack
The Texas State brawl of 2006
Tommy and PetiteCountryCat
FSU/TCU board takeovers
Bernie humping cars after the 2007 LSU win
The Wodie Crew Van with a beer tap
73 breaking Anth's TV during a game we won

And since this discussion always leads me to the Wayback Machine here's "General Chat" from when I started:

And the oldest working GYERO I could find:

That's the oldest GYERO I could find that still works. All the rest say "This Message is no longer in our database"

I'm not sure I've ever been this disinterested in football. I just don't give a single **** about the draft, spring ball, off season moves, portal, any of it. I think the Titans and Cats have finally worn me down. May as well be the WNBA.

I'm banned on both the UL and Cincinnati Rivals boards, the latter for relentlessly trolling SmokeyPearl.

My join date for HymanKaplan on here is 2001, but I was ChesterMarcol before that, but it got lifetime banned. I remember coming back over and saying this is formerly CM, and got a bunch of crap, "like Chester better etc.) So that's why I think GYERO is a good bit older than 2001
