If any of you have any nostalgic love for the downtown Columbias, just look back in fondness. It’s incredibly awful now. Hopefully my slightly gray “prime” rib doesn’t come back to haunt me tomorrow. Kook, steer clear (as if I had to tell you that)

I remember being squeezed in at that bar between my parents sometime in the 80’s, watching us beat Indiana. No idea what year, I was a little dude. I just remember the red uniforms, and I hated them.

It’s at least $19.95 now. Columbias and Joe B’s will die off when the UKO’s of Lexington get too old to go out to restaurants in 15-20 years.

That’s the arc…

First night I met my future wife… post fiesta, we were hauled in bed of pickup to Tolly Ho I used the word ‘globule’ describing the amount of ketchup she had prepared next to tots.

That garnered enough cred for our first date to Joe Bologna’s for mediocre pie and extremely bulbous & suggestive breadsticks. Winner.

Lots of joints were great… at that time.

- Not to brag, but I have 2 degrees from the University of Kentucky and visit Lexington no less than 2 times a year for various reasons. I have never stepped foot inside of Joe Balogna's, and I'm not really sure I could find the place without Siri's help.

I get it. The cost of rent, groceries, and utilities is too high. So here's what we're going to do...

For the love of God. I don't want to listen to political ads during KSR. I'm listening to KSR to avoid politics and serious things.

My wife is a Lex native and when we started dating we would go with her Grandparents to Joe B's. It was their favorite spot. Probably been there 30 times but not sure I've been in the last 10 years.

F that place. It's owned by one of the biggest corksoakers in town.
Meant to go back to this.

Yeah, I graduated with Scan’s daughter. He’s an…interesting guy.

Scratch it from the list, kook. Sloot already mentioned the better option of Athenian anyway. Can’t believe I forgot that one, I feel shame. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I've only been to Joe B's once. I took a summer class one time and at the end the professor took the entire class there for dinner. It was a free meal in college so the greatest meal of my life!

Re: political ads: for anyone that doesn’t have the privilege of living in the great state of Ohio, the Sherrod Brown/Bernie Moreno senate race is the most money that has been ever spent on a senate race in the history of our country. It’s really been a joy to watch and a great use of millions of dollars. After 3 months I legit have no idea where either candidate stands on a single issue.

Mark Pope. Wow. So impressed. I really was shocked how on the same page everyone was in the very first game they have ever played with each other. To me from watching I would say Kriisa will be very important as I just don’t think Travis Perry is there from an athleticism standpoint, so excited to see how we play with another veteran guard. I just can’t imagine in a couple years how we’ll look with some continuity and 5 stars but I can say I haven’t been this optimistic and excited as a UK fan in years

Halloween party with the kids then putting them down and going with my wife to haunted fest (big EDM show). The headliner? DJ Shaq Diesel. Will be interesting to see how big in person he is I guess? Had no clue he was a DJ seems rather odd

So I guess college basketball players can wear whatever number they want now? I missed that memo. You can tell I'm really up on my game, baby!

Ron, based on the ads, pretty sure Sherrod Brown is going to release vicious illegal immigrants into society specifically to force my cat to get a sex change operation. As I am not an Ohio voter I'm going with this as my entire understanding of his platform.

You’ve missed the latest amazing twist: After they run a Sherrod brown is going to make biological males compete in women sports ads right after it (not sure if they are paying extra for back to back ads) they are running a “Ohio already voted to ban this it’s not happening it’s a complete lie” ad and then right after they run a Bernie Moreno is going to outlaw and execute anyone that has an abortion ad they run a “Ohio just voted 3 months ago to protect abortion rights this isn’t true” ad so it’s literally just them going in circles over and over again like fkwits

I say it all the time, but Joe B’s has my favorite wings in lex. It’s also my wife’s favorite restaurant so we go there on the 1-2 nights a year we get a “date”.

My kids have always kept us busy but I don’t think anything had prepared me for the schedules of 2 teenagers in the fall. My goodness. I am running them 3-4 places every night. I bet I averaged a thousand miles a week this month.

It’s unreal.

Did we ever find out what happened to the vandy player that left our game on a stretcher? I never heard his condition? Kinda concerning?

I acknowledge that I am no college basketball, but I have not understood why this Kentucky team has been kinda unvalued in the cbb circles this off-season? It’s a team (mostly) full of grown men that can shoot the lights out, and led by someone who is widely considered an innovative and highly intelligent coach? Like, isn’t that the exact makeup of every good team the past 5-7 years? What am I missing? I’m not expecting a final four but it also wouldn’t be crazy would it??

Dodgers-Yankees is an elite WS. Idc if you “like” these teams at all. This is what makes sports fun.

Having said that, I’d be lying if I suggested I won’t be glancing at the Arkansas-Kansas scrimmage as well. Been a long time since I rooted for Kansas but here we are!

My first week at UK, I wanted to try out the infamous Joe B’s. Dropped in the old location for lunch.
Me: I’ll have a small pepperoni pizza
Server: would you like any breadsticks?
Me: how many come in an order (thinking Pizza Hut)
Server: they come individually
Me: oh ok, give me 4 I guess
Server: [odd look] you got it

Joe B's was mine/dad/grandad tradition pre-game for damn near every Rupp game I attended as a kid. Back then, it was Pizza Hut on steroids for lil BBdK. Place was always packed with all blue, great vibes, and typically with a long wait.

If we heard a 3rd/Final call for a random party, Dad would roll up to the hostess, apologize for "missing the call" and say we were them once he was certain they'd already bounced 😎

He must have done this 10-15x, and it worked every damn time.
