Friday Night Shorts:
- What a return to college basketball. Seriously, for 5 straight seasons I’ve been avoiding media, barely watching good teams and mostly hate watching my team. I’m back. Watching Indiana-Purdue right now. Getting all the media I can like the old days.
- Look, I’m still a sonofabitch in-game, probably alienating my text buddies, but beneath my rage texts, I’m so much calmer. I still want to murder the refs (or ruin their roofing business) but I’m never pissed at my coach. I question sometimes but I trust the guy. It’s the only way for this fan-coach relationship to work.
- People are annoyed about the Cal booing talk from national media. I’m not. We’re Kentucky. Our **** always matters more.
- How many times did I shovel snow so me and my cousins could hoop in the backyard when we were 10-14? Those were the best times. 2-on-2 competitive and ornery for no reason. 5 nights a week.
- My favorite all-timer female country voices would have Sara Evans and Kacey Musgraves somewhere on the short list.
- Anyone ever think about things that actually probably don’t cost enough? Like cell phone service? Like $80? That’s a bargain. I’d pay $250.
- So joined my wife for her annual company retreat in Punta Cana.
* Spent 4 days which is the perfect vacation for dad. I have never not wanted to return from a vacation. Wife was there for 8 total.
* Beautiful resort and grounds, but felt the Mexican one was better for food and service. Whatever- had a great time with the wife and her coworkers. Much needed.
* Saw a fake *** out in the wild. Was really uncalled for, to be honest.
* All rum all week for me. The watering down was actually a benefit.
* Swim-up bars are just one of the greatest things on earth.
- Oweh moving on up the list of favorite Cats. Probably Top 35 right now with real upside. I trust him completely.
- Gotta root for Indiana and UNC a lil bit so they keep their loser coaches as long as possible.
- Been butting heads a lot with my good friend Anth about his rightward drift but the good thing is now we can really talk about Morgan Wallen songs.
- Man call me a bougie ***** but those yoga clothiers - Beyond Yoga, Alo, etc- can manufacture some comfortable menswear.
- Parental pride is the most obvious **** ever. I mean- of course, but I didn’t realize why that pride permeated until I had my own. Yeah it’s some that they’re yours but I’d say the majority of it comes because you see these humans constantly growing and overcoming. You’re right there for every point of that. Whether it’s something dramatic or just basic **** like walking, you see the daily try-and-fail. It’s as much a human thing as a parental thing.
