Time for people who haven’t watched CBB all year long to suddenly become experts on it. To be fair, I will still listen to them over Seth Davis.
* Sorry to sound like a wet fart, but the incessant whining about tournament draws really grinds my gears. Like, we don't play Illinois in Milwaukee on Sunday. That game is scheduled for the winner of Kentucky vs Troy against the winner of Illinois vs Texas/Xavier. The 2018 regional in Atlanta taught me everything I need to know about taking this stuff for granite.
* As my dear friend wcc pointed out yesterday, we're a really tough team to scout right now. Give us a full, healthy squad and we could cut the nets down. But I do think Troy gives us everything we can handle. Don't look ahead. Eyes on the ball.
* Many, many years ago I remember BBdK getting drawn into Andy Katz's writings about getting invited into the Selection Committee meetings. Katz got the insider treatment and gave a full rundown of the process, and it was really cool.
Fast forward a good 20 years later, and I think those clowns are all insufferable fools. They literally do a mock selection meeting during the season just to warm up/practice for the real thing, and it's usually in Cabo or Bali or the Maldives or something. And at the end of the day, they're working thru a process that anyone on this board is capable of replicating off the cuff. And my favorite antic, by far, is when the guys in the CBS booth interview the committee chairs and ask them what happens when their school comes up for discussion. As if we don't already know they hold themsevles to such a high ethical standard that they are excused from the room and don't participate in the discussion in any way. Okay, bub.
* Two weeks ago I got sick AF. Swore I had COVID/flu/whatever, but tested negative. And I'm still battling this s***. Over the counter meds don't cut it.
* Cincinnati Reds.

Same. Multiple members of my family have been to the ER with double pneumonia. I've had to take multiple days off work, which I almost never do. I've never been sick this long that I can recall and when it was at its worst, probably the worst I've felt in years. Still not over it completely.
* Got the call that I can take over a family member's football season tickets and parking pass. Sad day because it is health related. I can't decide if I want to do it. Actually, other than the parking pass, it is an easy decision in the negative.
GYERO advice would be appreciated. Two seats near the loge about 8 rows up. Great parking pass. Don't know the people who sit around there. We usually go to one or two football games per year.
* I think Pope is going to take Troy with the seriousness of a cancer diagnosis. Pretty much the only way his first season would be considered anything other than a wild success is a first round loss to a 14 seed.
He's aced every important test thus far. I see no reason to change those expectations. Playing the Illinois/Texas/Xavier pu-pu platter to go the second weekend is a solid draw. You gotta beat somebody.
He was literally squirming in his seat during that post-reveal interview yesterday. It would have been hilarious to watch if it wasn't so infuriating.

The fact that the AD at one of the most pretentious, wine-and-cheese universities in the country is named “Bubba” will never fail to make me chuckle.

- Beaten down, broken down, young guys having to try to defend studs, new coach figuring UK life out from the other side - pretty, pretty, pretty happy with the season. Wanted more but that want stays until #9. Giving Pope a B+ for the 11 Pubert seasons worth of quad 1 wins.
- Had some house work weekends and feel absolutely cooked right now. Weekend before last was raking and vacuuming leaves all day only for the trees and neighbors to undo it before the refuse was collected. This weekend was ~20 hours of electrical rough-in and motorized tv bracket for the patio. Note to future self: don't ever pull down more vinyl ceiling planks than you absolutely need to. The last bit will be like zipping up Lizzo with a small member's only jacket.
- Did a DC trip with wife and the BikeMS group that raised the most for the SE. Whipping cold wind but didn't stop us from 25k steps around the National Mall. Air/Space is as cool today as it was the almost 40 years ago I first went. Still under construction on some of it as is a lot of the surrounding area. Lincoln is getting a new basement exhibit area. The WW2, MLK, and Korean War were new to me and they're amazing. Fun weekend trip.
- Also in DC trip at of course landing at Reagan, wife tells me when I get out of the shower that our landing made the news. 1 wheel before the other and a little shimmy. Half the plane started applauding while the other half looked for their travel spare underwear (keep mine in my carry-on).
- Vegas trade show coming up. Splurged on some new ECCOs for the occasion. Best work trip and the only one I actually enjoy going to anymore. Sending the young guys for everything else.
- Golf scramble starts up this week. Jumping out of my skin to get back out there for some debauchery and good times with the group. Partner is a year closer to moving up another tee box.
- UNC and the NCAA are truly made for each other. If not for them, I may never have found myself in so many rabbit holes of corruption. Thanks, I guess.
- Grilling steaks and going to enjoy the **** out of the patio tonight. Little teaser for Fri evening. LFG!!!

The only thing that hasn't been successfully tried, that I know of, but is a surefire top idea for any golf entertainment facility is having live human targets.
Every time I see an Axe Throwing business, I'm absolutely shocked it's still open.
Provided Butler is okay, I'm pretty damn pleased with our bracket. I think we would lose to Alabama 10 out of 10 times, and Auburn 9 out of 10 times. But other than that, I think we can beat anybody else in the tournament at least 3.5 out of 10 times. So there's a chance.
As the old saying goes, it's hard to beat the same team 10 times in a season.
Juxtapose that against this old saying, "it's hard to beat Mark Sears and Bama with a slow freshman cracker PG from Eddyville."

Alabama kicked our *** at Rupp with a mainly healthy roster. Butler played 32 minutes and Jax played 25. If memory serves, that was when Carr was walking wounded but still, I don't think we could beat Alabama with a completely healthy roster.

The only argument against UNC to me was West Virginia who may have been more deserving but if we are honest UNC draws and no different than if it was UK that would play a role to us getting the play in too.

Alex Caruso was on a podcast and they asked him how many NBA players they could put on a 16 seed that would enable the 16 seed to win the title. Caruso said like 40 NBA players could do that. I personally think it would be maybe 1 (Giannis). Thoughts?

My UNC friends/family are almost universally happy but also annoyed because of their loathing of Pubert. But they are stuck for a couple years. So trying to enjoy it while also…not enjoying it.

That was a tie ball game with 5 minutes to go and then they hit some 3's and we didn't counter. Tough matchup but not unwinnable (with mostly our full roster and a healthy Carr.)
We are not in the same bracket as Duke, Auburn, bama, Florida, St. John’s, and Michigan st. Those are the best 6 teams in my opinion.
Tenn and Houston are both up there but we’ve beaten Tenn 2x and would get Houston in Indy.
