Milquetoast gets a lot of ****, and rightfully so in regards to football, but he absolutely murdered the two basketball hires this year.

Anyone else feeling stupid confident because we finally get to play a few teams not ranked in the top 30 across the board with SEC officiating?

Yeah, me neither. I'm so snakebitten about this damn tournament since 2019 that I don't even want to try to make ridiculous plans.

I do know I'm going to be awfully sad to see this group go. What a tremendous first group of guys (both on and off the court) for Pope's inaugural season.

I appreciate what Pope and his staff did building the roster for this season when you consider the circumstances. Having to build a staff and an entire roster over roughly 1 month and still end up capable of beating anyone in the country is pretty astounding. If we actually had some normal injury luck this season, this team ends up a 2 seed.

With that said, Pope can not survive long term at UK if he's not fielding All American level talent on the regular. Whether that be from the portal, HS recruits or player development, he has to win at an elite level or else the fans will turn on him. He isn't going to accomplish that long term rolling out rosters that don't overwhelm 80+% of our opponents.

That expectation will really hit Pope next season. He has to land ELITE talent in this portal class.

As a parent, there is not a guy in the country I'd rather my kid play for than Pope. He was basically an unknown last year and crushed the portal on short notice. Now everyone knows who he is as a coach and person. To say I have high expectations for this portal season would be an understatement.

Yep, he's just going to waltz upon the pinnacle of college basketball greatness and instill fear into the two greatest basketball programs ever. It's almost as if they have never had to face HOF coaching prowess within the conference.

NCSt is a sleeping giant, imo. They have two titles from two different coaches. They have many great players in their history. They're in a great basketball area. If Keats got them to a Final Four, then Wade can win a title there.

The ACC is weak. It's the perfect time to strike. Wade is the perfect hire for the Wolfpack. They'll be a tourney team next year, and after that, they'll be a consistent top 3 ACC team year in and year out. UNC should be very worried. Grand slam hire!
