I mean how many people are we taking??

Considering our offense requires us to play 10 guys and it's obvious we are eternally doomed to have crippling injuries every year, I'd say take whatever Pope wants.

Also, there's no guarantee BG doesn't transfer or Oweh testing the NBA waters.

Admittedly, I forgot about Lowe and the influx of freshman talent we are getting so maybe just snag Alvaro and call it a team.

"Kentucky presented us with a very detailed plan for how they plan on bringing Jayden back with the trainers and how they want to use him once he's healthy," Haminn Quaintance said. "The way that they use their big men as offensive hubs, he really fits into that system. Jayden didn't want to go somewhere where he'd just be a screener. Coach Pope made him feel really good. They went really deep on the analytics, going into things most coaches don't even think of."

If by interesting, you mean terrible. The first "WTF" I've had with Pope.

This is exact kind of Shaedon Sharpe-lite knucklehead I want Pope to avoid. Are there any other kids in the third percentile on the catch and shoot coming off ACL surgery we can throw millions of dollars at? 🤮
He will be a walking double/double, shot blocking machine. He averaged 9.5/8 and blocked 2.6 shots per game. He will NOT be shooting 3s. 2.6 blocks per game, when was the last time UK had that ? AD. The days of giving up over 10 offensive rebounds a game and getting waxed on the boards in general, are OVA. Lobs for days from Lowe.
He and Dioubate are lock down defenders, Dioubate held Oweh under 10 (on 1-9 shooting) Oweh had 2 points for the 1st time all year, and Oweh fouled out in 21 minutes, people forget that. Willaims is another solid above average defender on the wing, that is 3 solid, physical guys with size and athleticism.

Again, JQ isn't expected to play next season because of his injury, the last I heard.
Considering he's a projected top 10 in the 2026 Draft I would sure hope he's expected to play next season. This is from last week:

Jayden Quaintance is projected to be cleared for contact in September, six months following his surgery, his father says, putting him in line to return to action before the start of the 2025-26 college season in November.

"He's already ahead of schedule, the doctor says, and should be cleared for contact in September," Haminn Quaintance said.

Ok I'm missing something. Why are some bitching about these additions?
the only one I've complained about is JQ, and large part of that is his health, and the assumption that he couldn't/wouldn't play next year. It SEEMS that he will though, so let's roll.

Driving to the basket against our backcourt with impunity, it would seem, will be a more daunting task next year. Getting offensive rebounds against our defense will be a lot more difficult as well.

Jesus, talk about a complete makeover in the physicality of a team. My word.

I would assume there will be clauses of health and playing built into his NIL deal, if not, it should be. I can't imagine Pope not protecting his investment. Cal, hell yes, Pope, I do not think he goes all lose and just pays him big money without some sort of guarantees of minutes / production clauses. JMO. If so, definitely worth the risk, huge reward if he comes back and able to contribute. ACL's are not the kiss of death. Another thing about JQ, he averaged almost 1.5 steals per game. Played in the Big 12, some solid players in that league and defended very well.

Something about JQs catch and shoot percentage. Idk

LOL - to be fair, on the film, his shooting form is f***ing brutal. As bad as I've ever seen. Granted, that's not what we're paying him for, but damn. It's like a splay footed set-shot, that's the only way I can describe it. LOL Again, that's not his role, so...

Is there anything lazier in sports journalism than all of these hypothetical articles? I know the "WAY TOO EARLY TOP 25" was mentioned the other day but now there are entire articles (likely written by AI) that analyzes trade PROPOSALS. Not even rumors, just made up **** to get the red meat fanbases raging.

**** is infuriating and eats up my feeds regularly.

Reserving judgment on this one. We saw Harry Giles go from world beater to never close to the same. But one thing going for JQ is that he’s 17 yo. Won’t be 18 until July. Hoping for the best.

3-4 more Breas and a couple Amaris and we should be good to go. Maybe another Butler or two, but that's it at the most. Could start getting crowded.

JK but I don't think we need anything. Our second string (Lewis, Chandler, Williams, Dioubate, Moreno), or however you break it down right now, would probably be a top 15-20 caliber starting 5? Pope probably wants a little more depth in the event that 4 of our top 7 go down again though (ugh). Noah and Perry are our 11th and 12th men right now, just as they were to start 2024-25, only a year older, with a ton more experience.

Per Mags, we're looking to add a shooter. Sounds like Yates is the priority, but a stretch 4 could meet that description. IMO Alvaro has been flirtin' too long. Those long rumored impending commitments seem to never pan out.

regretting this as i type it, but don't we still need a PF/stretch 4/Andrew Carr type? Can Williams and Dioubate fill that role?
For what it’s worth, Quaintance had an assist rate exceeding Carr’s.

Dioubate most certainly can be a small ball 4. He rebounded almost as well as Amari last season.

Lowe
Oweh
Johnson
Dioubate
Quaintance

That lineup would be lightning fast. There are 3 guards who can get to the rim with two players at the 4/5 who are adept at finishing around the rim. It has rebounding at the 4 and 5. The big question is floor spacing, but Pope can work magic there.

*Just booked Red Clay Stray at Red Rock. To say I'm pumped is an understatement.

*2nd place in the Bryant bracket is by far my best finish. Damn you, TMFH.

*Work is a little crazy. Apparently we have more than a few workers very worried about Trump's EO on work authorizations. I'm just starting to educate myself on it, but, adios.

IMO
Lowe - 6-4 (175 pounds)
Oweh - 6-5 (215 pounds)
Williams - 6-8 (195 pounds) athletic / rebounds / defends / shoots 41% 3FG
Dioubate - 6-7 (but 225 pounds) defends best wing / F / athletic / rebounds / bully
JQ - 6-10 (240 pounds) elite rim protector / rebounder / defender / athletic, ball handler.

Can use another elite shooter, but I think Chandler and hopefully Johnson can fill that and Dioubate can show he can actually shoot it at the % he did last year but at a higher volume. The bottom line is, yes the video game #s look good, but once you get beyond the Sweet 16, defending, rebounding, and protecting the ball trumps high scoring. The proof is there, the last 4 national championship games the winner averaged 72 points, the loser, 63. Highest score for the winner out of the last 4, 76 points 2023 UCONN.
