It feels like Top Button is just looking for any reason to justify keeping Stoops. To me all this fiasco has proven is that the administration isn’t really serious about FB. Anywhere else and he would have been let go last year or at worst today and the money would have been found/worked out.

For all the hub bub about Flaggs first poster dunk (I got a touching ESPN update like a coach had been fired for it) that was the lamest **** ever.

He traveled, didn't even dunk on anyone and it was a simple one handed jam.

-Heard that Sumrall is interested in UK but no one has reached out yet. If you don't think the Auburn's and Ole Miss' of the world haven't already reached out you're kidding yourself. Mitch can't get out of his own way (some rumors out there that he'll be gone next summer).

-Also heard that Cutter won't be back if Stoops is and they've already been looking around at other options.

-Cats +10.5 is more than I thought it would be at Auburn. Crazy that once our offense has shown some life that we've taken a huge step back defensively.

-Underrated part of the Purdue game was how well we defended their big 3 (they were a combined 13-39).

-For all the BG hate, he had some huge buckets in the second half that put the game away. Will be interesting to see how Pope handles the 5 early in the season. BG is a better passer/shooter but everything else Moreno is better. Don't think Pope cares about this but if he puts Moreno in the starting lineup then that added exposure could increase the likelihood that he's a 1 and done.

-There will be a few players that might have a tough decision regarding NBA/returning next year-Lowe, Jasper, Moreno, Williams.

-Watched a few exhibition games-Caleb Wilson is better than I thought and if we had pulled him or Yaxel whew boy! Boozer (the good one) is a force too.

-Louisville looked pretty pedestrian as did St. Johns's for the most part.

-Tennessee is trying to play fast this year; we'll see how long that lasts.

-Kriisa started for Cincy; didn't realize Jizzle James got kicked off the team for some legal trouble. They'll be terrible but Kerr doing his thing will be fun.

-I think we would have made the Final Four last year if we had pulled Richie Saunders.

-Not sure who's worse this year between the Pacers or Celtics.

-Brian Kelly could be in play for Penn State-if Ruhle turns them down which is unlikely (Arkansas as well). Zac Taylor a possibility at Nebraska assuming Ruhle leaves. Lea will interview for Penn State and Nebraska I bet but will ultimately stay put.

Have heard the same from people that are pretty well connected and would know. In my mind, I have pretty much already accepted, “He gon’.”

In fact, I’m pretty convinced that will be the case whether Stoops is let go or not. He wants the kind of money that UK is not prepared nor able to pay him, if the whisperings are true. Not if they want to focus on what’s most important and rebuild the trenches on both sides of the ball, anyway. Anybody who knows a damn thing about football knows that’s where it starts.

I don’t think Kelly would satiate this PSU crowd. They (like us) would probably want to see an offensive guru running the show. PSUs offense, under Franklin, has made Iowa’s look amazing.

Watch for Gruden here. Just a feeling.

Sumrall is probably going to be a bigger name when Tulane ends up making the playoffs. The American Champion is likely going to be the highest ranked G6 team and Tulane controls their destiny / could still sneak in even with a loss to Memphis next Friday. Memphis already has a conference loss and has to play Tulane, North Texas and Navy. Navy still has North Texas, Notre Dame, USF, and Memphis North Texas and USF have conference losses and both still play Navy.

If Cutter isn't in Lexington next year and Stoops is . . . shew buddy. There will be riots, protests in the streets.

And they probably won't be peaceful.

Was thinking this morning how much I appreciate Pope’s ability (along with his staff) to assemble a team out of pieces that actually fit together. Again, hard to have any interpretation of one exhibition game that isn’t an overreaction, but it seemed pretty clear that every guy does something a little differently, and each one just needs to do what they do best. The roles are reasonably well-defined already, even if our presumptive starting PG is out.

To echo a refrain from last year, having a team full of very good players who know how to play ball >>>>>> having a “guy who can go get you a bucket.” And, tbh, this team probably has a few bucket getters anyway.

Compare and contrast that to our football program that has spent millions of dollars on 5th year transfer QBs only for them to be benched for an in-state kid and/or quit football… anyway, team-building is more important than ever in this NIL/portal era.

Keep refreshing the screen to see if we have fired Porky.
If he makes it past Auburn, with a loss, that just announced 730 start time for Florida has to be the death knell for him.
730, just cold enough to discourage casuals with a possible threat of a 4 hour game.
No one in the stands.

I’m starting to lean more and more toward Bandit‘s line of thinking. Don’t do this to yourselves (or to myself, for that matter).

Stoops is not going anywhere. I don’t know if it’s the money, loyalty, Joe & Kelly wanting to ride this out behind the scenes and/or not put up the buyout, whatever. But we are two days out from one of the most ridiculous and embarrassing losses in a long time, and not a single touching word has been said about anything. Everyone needs to just accept (again, myself included) that Stoops is our coach for at least one more season.

And the Sumrall talk is getting laughable at this point. He will be smiling and waving at us from another SEC sideline next season.

Can't believe I'm saying this but . . . if one more miserable season is what it takes to get rid of both Stoops and Barnhart, then, in a very dark way, I will take pleasure in watching Barnhart twist in the wind while that millstone around his neck finally drags him to the bottom and out, cementing his legacy like a pair of concrete shoes.

Anyone predicting anything or presenting anything as “in the know” is nothing more than seeking attention. Too early for anyone to know a damn thing.

Oh LSU and UF are 1 and 1a to get Kiffin? No ****!

Anyway, give me Dan Mullen and I’ll be a happy cat fan.

- I will add that I disagree with KSR about announcing Stoops and UK has come to an agreement to part at season’s end.

1- Doing that allows fans to show some appreciation and support as they know what they want will happen without them not supporting the team.

2- It gives Stoops some dignity of finishing his season with his guys and it could give the kids a reason to rally.

I’m pretty sure Krazy was referring to Brady. But whatever.

we need a FOOTBALL dude to hire the next coach. Not Mitch, nor JMI, nor an agent moving pieces around. We could’ve had Coen.

I remember Stoops laughing at Coen for working so hard he went to the hospital… it was then we should’ve known that Stoops didn’t understand the NEXT LEVEL of Coach/nerd commitment.

Sure wish I saw the post that doesn’t exist, it’s what we do here………..don’t be a pvssy!

Truthfully I wasn’t speaking on anyone in this thread as I do think Brady has some knowledge of things and I do believe Jayroon knows something too.

I don’t though, except for the idea that more people will “know” more than they really do during times like this.

I really wish I knew more about Stein.

So the resident idiot is a POS and has been since the ‘70’s, go figure.

Krazy, Willy Cauley played football too, if that’s the Stein you’re referring.

At full strength we’re going to run teams into the dirt. Just like in the title game of ‘98, those Utah players were walking up the court with 10 minutes left in the game, it felt so good watching the air go out of their dreams. Felt even better taking everyone’s money and dragging my nuts all over them.

Now into the 16th inning of this World Series, not like I can sleep anyway.

Football, basketball and sauger season, makes for a full time fall and early winter.

Now going into 17 innings, for those keeping score in your sleep.
