I love Louisiana's governor straight up came out and said they aren't letting the AD pick the next football coach. In all fairness, the guy is responsible for $132 mill in buyouts between Fisher and Kelly.

I wish I could be that colossal of a touch up and get paid $1.5 mill a year.

Woodward didn't do the Jimbo extension and buy out, he just hired him. The Jimbo buyout came from their next AD because Woodward was trying to hire Jimbo away from A&M to LSU before settling on Kelly.

That being said Woodward was Mark Emmert's underling for a decade and followed him to Washington so F em.

Do We Still Do Randoms? Randoms

-
Where have all the Stanley Cups gone? The evolution of the drinking cup over the last decade or so should be studied by sociology classes for years to come. The power of marketing, social media, and herd mentality.

00s - Yeti
10s - HydroFlask
Late 10s - Cork Sickle
20s - Stanley
NOW - Owala
FUTURE - Dixie Cups will make a comeback!

- I recently returned from the Panhandle after a Fall Break trip to Sandestin/30A. Let me tell you what PCB has over this New Money Tourist Trap:
* authenticity
* NO frills, LESS pretentiousness
* LOCAL restaurants (seafood that was in the GULF hours earlier; not flown in from God Knows Where)
* More space

EDITED HERE BECAUSE I WASN'T DONE, DAMNIT!!!

- This fall has been a throwback to childhood. Halloween actually feels like Halloween this year instead of Labor Day Weekend. These last 6 days have sucked, though. We've gone to late January in order to get a good Friday. It all works out.

- The "6, 7" thing has surely jumped the shark by now. If not, please let me speak that into existence.

- Along those same lines, watch how many insufferable sports journalists use the phrase, "absolute cinema" this year when breaking down film on basketball. What an insufferable phrase. Over/Under on a guy like Rob Dauster using that phrase when jerking off to Duke: 378.5

- I was looking around the wonderful world of South Central during the late summer and early fall and noticed an uptick in leg tattoos. Almost like an entire Leg-sleeve. But "leg-sleeve" sounds really stupid. I nominate "sock" as a way to refer to leg-sleeve tattoos. Or maybe "pant"? I'll let you know what we decide.

- Enjoy

-media family day yesterday sounded awesome from a friend invited to be there. Pope just understands this stuff so much more than Cal (or most in general)

-Debating on what chili to make tomorrow. Typically love Alton Brown’s version with chuck roast but several families coming by from other neighborhoods. I might say eff it… you’re at my house, eat it or don’t.

-the first time I was ever in Baton Rouge we went by the governor’s mansion and there were a ton of motorcyclists rallying to salute the governor for repealing the helmet requirement law. That area is so cool but so strange.

College coaches were worth $10M+ a year before NIL because besides facilities and fans, having a good coach was the only real thing you could have that would get kids to your school.

This sort of applies to the NFL as well. There's a hard cap and salary floor. So a great coach is going to make a significant difference because you can't just outspend the competition when it comes to players.

I'm starting to think the move in college is to get a low cost coach, but throw a ton of money to the players. For example, instead of paying Stoops $9M a year. Pay some up and comer coach $1M and spend the remaining $8 on stud WR's, offensive tackles and defensive ends.

Jon Sumrall and the other non-Power 4 coaches to watch

Whenever a Power 4 job comes open, there's an expectation, externally and even internally, that other Power 4 coaches will jump to take the job. But those moves happen less than people might think.

Given the number of Power 4 vacancies, which certainly will grow in the coming weeks, it's a good time to be an emerging Group of 5 coach, and there are several names to know.

Tulane's Sumrall is the most talked about Group of 5 coach entering the hiring cycle. He won two Sun Belt Conference championships at Troy, and he brings a 15-6 record at Tulane into Thursday's game at UTSA. Sumrall is an Alabama native who played at Kentucky and also coached at his alma mater as well as Ole Miss. He would be a natural choice for just about any vacancy -- current or future -- in the SEC. After serious talks with North Carolina about its vacancy last year, he also might fit in the ACC at a job such as Virginia Tech. The 43-year-old Sumrall certainly will have options.

"Sumrall is probably the best G5 right now," an industry source said.

How on earth is it possible that Kentucky can lose both of it's PG's in just a scrimmage and ONE preseason basketball game. Good ****ing grief.

I blame Stoops.

yeah it’s not working for me here in Paducah, either. Effin Xfinity and their streaming lag ********

I finally got it to work by closing my Infinity App and going through my Roku, but I had to log into the game on the Roku ESPN app using my Xfinity creds.
Good grief! I have never had this issue before

At least they are fighting. I like that they didn’t just give up.

Just let some shots start falling.
