Well at least for those of you who choose to stay up and listen to the post game show you get Ryan instead of Matt. At least I assume Matt won’t be doing it.

This all boils down to recruiting. We missed on Wilkerson, Wilson and several other bigger names but somehow still spent a ton of money and the pieces still don't work.

Really need these assistant coaches (and alleged ace recruiters) to start pulling their weight.

Horribly constructed roster with awful team chemistry.

If your entire basketball identity is shooting and spreading the floor, you have to actually recruit shooters. We have none, and that's not correctable or defensible.

Truly felt like a Cal game. Losses in 4 of the next 6 look likely.

Season on the brink, and it's only December 3.

One thing Pope might want to stop selling some of these kids is analytics. Telling a kid his production falls off at the 24 minute mark of his PT. The Caleb Wilson’s of the world want to play 30+ minutes. Just a thought.
The game itself was like watching two MAC teams play.
Team is soft as hell and here comes Ike and company coming down the track.
Better figure something out.

This is supposed to be entertainment right? Calling it a chore to watch this team is being generous they stink.

Can't wait for Jalen "Slim Savhir" Lowe to save us.

Pathetic. Damn I hate being this negative, but Pope just not getting anything right.

Vismund nailed it. Pope whiffed (and continues to do so) on the shooters we needed and going into the season with one true PG on the roster was just incredibly stupid. We have a team full of 6th men.
Richie Saunders choosing to stay at BYU was a seismic choice. Who knew how important that was in the moment? He was a great player last year and would be in the running for SEC POTY this season.

2007 - John Calipari is the slam dunk no doubt hire for UK. Our idiot AD who somehow is still employed, decides to act like he's smarter then the fans who all watch infinitely more basketball then him, hires an overachieving B12 coach who punched above his weight but didn't have any real accomplishments. Lasts two years, flames out spectacularly and the idiot AD is shoved into a closet so the real decision makers can get **** right in 2009.

2024 - Nate Oats is the slam dunk no doubt hire for UK. Our idiot AD who somehow is still employed, decides to act like he's smarter then the fans who all watch infinitely more basketball then him, hires and overachieving B12 coach who punched above his weight but didn't have any real accomplishments. Currently in 2nd year, looks like flaming out spectacularly, and hopefully the idiot AD is shoved into a closet so the real decision makers can get **** right in 2026.

When you can't shoot, score, rebound,or defend... Gonna be hard to win basketball games.

There's a certain level of desperation required to get past some personal peeves about coaches.

Cal wasn't universally lauded and desired. Many assumed he was a dirty operator.

Nate Oats has a thorny rep. He's an in conference rival so that breeds it's own competitive driven ire.

Desperation helps get past the choosiness and look beyond some caricature.

I go to bed pretty early. I don’t even bother watching 9:00 top games live anymore. I just record them and if we win, I watch, and if we lose I delete. As far as I’m concerned last night didn’t even happen!

I do find it sad though that my give a **** with UK sports continues to decrease. Too much other stress in life to worry about college athletes who are now getting paid. Between being a UK and Bungles fan I’m pretty close to just giving it all up.

Is this becoming our Matt Doherty experiment? I think he was like 20-6 his first season at UNC, then everything went to complete **** in his 2nd year.

Well I was wrong. I talked myself almost immediately into this being a good hire and was really happy with the performance last season but we're only 8 games in to season 2 and as bad as it is now, this is going to get a lot worse. The wheels are going to.completely come off now. The weakest of our "marquee" games and at Rupp. We HAD to have this one. Total.disaster and I don't know if they win 10 games the rest of the year.

I've gotten over the shock, and so I'm just going to irrationally hope that Lowe and JQ join the team again soon, and turn this ship around.

I mean, what else do I have?

And also that Aberdeen stops losing his damn mind.

How many airballed threes do we have to see before we start making sure Terry Rozier or Chauncey Billups haven't been hanging around Lexington?

Keith Bogans' junior year seems to have given this whole team lazyboi AIDS.

After sleeping on it I can’t find a single reason to be optimistic about this team. That was such an utterly horrendous performance. Might have to just call it a day on this season and hope like hell Pope can recruit some players this offseason and turn it around next year. This team is just miserably put together.

Doherty was a dick. If he were a more affable fella, he might have survived to coach his 4th season there given the talent on the roster. Instead, he was such an *** that they needed to jettison him so he didn't eff up a program stuffed with talent.

His team went to crap after the Dean/Guthridge talent left in his second year. In his third, he had brought it a top recruiting class and had some good sophomores returning. They went 19-16 and featured the same starting lineup as the eventual Nation Championship team.

- If there was ever a FR that doesn’t understand he isn’t in high school anymore and all the 1v1 actually hurts the TEAM, it’s Jasper Johnson.

Learn how to run a team young fella!

- If none of Chandler, Aberdeen or JJ can run the point then let Oweh have the ball in his hands so everyone else is in their natural position. He is dependent on open lanes anyway so the guys on the wings need to be able to at least be a threat to knock down a shot, and he can run PnR all day.

- Starting to see why Kam isn’t a starter. I wanted to see more of him but he has his role and coming off the bench may be it. Once he earned that starting spot he has been unable to get open and seems hesitant to shoot.

I was never high on this group as it was brought together to face last years SEC and it isn’t suited for what Pope says he wants to run.

Sometimes rosters don't work out, and things go "not as expected" but the complete incompetence of this team is hard to fathom. We're not THAT untalented. It's just a complete meltdown.

Oweh has the worst handle I've maybe ever seen from a guard of his pedigree. Hell all UNC did was pressure our guards and we melted down.

It doesn't make sense because last year we had a GD center running the point for long stretches.
