representatives on the search committee, I think that is a fair request. If they want more input than that, then I think they are placing more importance on their roll or themselves than they should.
I have to admit that I have an admiration for the profession of teaching. But, I find myself not admiring many teachers. I find them generally concerned more about how hard they will have to work and how much their paycheck is than anything. Now, that is a criticism that could be leveled at just about anybody or any group of workers. The problem is the extent to which teachers have influence in that debate. At the company I work for, I am sure everyone wants the largest paycheck they can get. But, ultimately, they don't have much input into their wage. Hopefully the powers that be have enough sense to pay a fair wage. And if they don't, the employee gets to leave.
