Would I rather have their d-line with Powe or ours with McPhee? What say you 6 pack

soft. McPhee will be a lot more productive this year playing on the end ( his prefered position) than he was playing inside.

just Powe versus McPhee that's tough to answer. I think it is a wash but I think general opinion (as in non-MSU fans) would lean toward Powe. But if you are asking would you rather have our D-line or theirs that's easy, I'll stay with ours.

and I'd go with that combination. However, I'm not sure if I completely understand the question.

but how in the 17 do you figure you are deeper and more talented. You have Laurent, Powe, and Scott at DT and Lockett at DE. Who else on your line has any experience? Dorsey hasn't played an SEC down yet even though I think he could be good, and Rivers hasn't either. I'd call it a wash at DT and we have the experience edge at DE. Cox, Boyd, and Jones all have game experience and were all 3 stars plus if that is how you are evaluating talent. McPhee, Bell, Ferguson, and Stigers all have game experience, and although Bell and Ferg weren't highly recruited, you don't have another end that has even played do you? Not to mention Carmon, who although hasn't played a down yet will be a force for us next year in stopping the run. 3/4 of our starters have experience and are really talented, as is 3/4 of your dline, but the second group is where there is seperation.

With all due respect, that's some pretty homeristic stuff right there. As I said, I was trying to be objective. If I thought that MSU's line was deeper and more talented, I simply would've said so. Apart from McPhee (who nearly had as many solo TFL's as Powe), I wasnot overlyimpressed by what I saw during the year from your D-line. I see that you disagree and that's fine, I was simply answering a question.

I think our would take ours at this point simply because we have more depth at DE. I think both first team units are pretty equally matched. Y'all are better at DT, and we are pretty comparable at DE. McPhee and Lockett probably cancel each other out, and Bell and Dorsey are still unproven for the most part. I think Bell will be better in run support, while Dorsey will be a better pass rusher.

As the year goes on, Cox, Boyd, and Carmon have a chance to develop into a a unit that is as good as Laurent, Powe, and Scott. I disagree with the people who don't think Powe is good; he is. However, Cox has just as much upside as Powe, and Boyd and Carmo are as talented as Laurent and Scott. Y'all have more experience though, and that gives y'all the edge.

Outside of Lockett though, you don't have a single DE who has taken any significant snaps. Dorsey has talent, but I want to see how he holds up against the run in SEC play. Rivers will probably be solid, but he isn't anything special. McPhee, Ferguson, Stigers, McCardell, and Bell have all seen action in SEC games, and McKenzie has gotten rave reviews as well. People seem to forget that most of the guys that played on the DL for us last year were RSF. They are going to continue to improve, not to mention that we were playing two true freshman DTs last year.

Y'all's starting DL has the edge in experience, but you are being delusional if you think you have any more depth or talent than us. We are both going to have good DLs.
