Game being broadcast live on Jackson TV channel 29 WMPN...Observations:
Tyler Russell looks very slow as a runner but seems to be an efficient passer - I realize its cold out there something like 25ish. Impressed with his poise in the pocket. He is getting hit alot, yet still keeps throwing darts to #10 WR is bread-and-butter guy.
#22 RB for Meridian looks kind of like Dextur McCluster-type back, small, elusive, very quick...pretty good player.
#10 for Meridian (WR) named Hands Glover (or something like that) looks like a very good player to recruit. This guy is catching everything Russell throws his way. Possession-type WR is something we need in the future.
I don't think Chris Smith (supposedly best WR for Meridian and our committment) caught a single pass yet. Right now a no show.
South Panola:
Their QB Renfroe looks good, not great but good. He scrambles out of the pocket pretty well and is throwing darts himself.
Xavier Lee WR for SP looks good. He is very skinny but can catch really good. Right now it looks like a Hands Glover vs. Xavier Lee a battle of WR's right now.
At times, Meridian looks slow but methodical on Offense. Kind of boring actually, but they still move the football chuncks at a time. Meridian made TOO many penalties in the first half.
At times, South Panola looks content to just run the football and is not throwing it enough. I am not at impressed with their RB or their OL. However, their Defense looks really good. Their LB's and DB's are bringing the wood to Meridian.
For some strange reason this reminds me of an old fashioned Egg Bowl type of game (minus Crxxm's incompetent Offense and Nutt's dynamic offenses) more like a Brewer vs Sherrill showdown where both teams try to slam it down your throat.
