State - UK

Anyone remember this one? We won a close game thanks to a blocked field by a guy named Jeff Artigues. (Perhaps one of thew few times the Random ******* Theory worked in our favor)

This youtube does not show the blocked kick, just several of Pookie Jones' 400 passing yards.....

My friends and I listened to Artigues block the kick after a night of ripping up Clinton signs all over Starkville. Fun times. Little good the latter did.

It was my senior year in HS, and I was out of town for something school related. One of the few home games I missed while attending on my father's dime.

Where I was, what I was doing when I was listening.

Didn't UK have that badass kicker named "Buffalo" too? I remember Jack breaking to commercial before a UK kick - "don't go anywhere because he can really buffalo it out of there".

if Im not mistaken. Didn't we go for 2 at some point to tie it late and Kenny Roberts dove to the pile on?

Pile on?

Seriously?

To answer your question, Jackie called for a reverse on a 2 point conversion, and whoever it was carrying the ball dove for the pylon as per Jack. There may have been a celebration pile on thereafter.

its because I have no clue how that's spelled, have never seen it spelled, and have never heard it spelled. Latin origin?

Damn, I recall the names and actions of a State game from 1992 and end up getting my *** jumped for misspelling pylon/pile on/pielawn/paelon. I would think that would've gotten at least a "good call".

No need to pylon.

[it was a good call, by the way. Was it Roberts?]

[it's from the Greek, pul?n, meaning "Gateway"]
