Hand wringing over nothing?

Everyone worried about who goes and who stays....the doctor at all of Trump's press conferences said he thinks this virus will come back for a second wave in the fall. If that happens, we're looking at no season at all next year.

Perhaps, and ultimately you may be right.

But a lot of people are also stressed, frustrated, worried, etc. about what’s going on and probably could use a distraction.

Even if that distraction is nothing more than folks getting too worked up about the decisions of young men who play a game. At least that’s something that is close to normal for this time of year.

Does Vegas have odds on this? Will there be a season in 2020-2021? If they do, I’m going to put some serious money on “no.” I don’t feel good about it. Think about the players. They didn’t want to play the tourneys this year, they won’t want to be out there sweating and **** out on that court come fall if we still don’t have a vaccine. I’m going to have to check the books.

So I wonder how many people are willing to take these same precautions for the common flu? Since we have 30-80 thousand deaths a year from the flu in America, wouldn’t the caring thing to do is just stop living a normal life and stop working? If we do that maybe we can cut flu deaths to just a few thousand. If you say no then you must be selfish and non caring.

Could that happen ? It could but I think the actual worst case scenario will be games without people in the stands for the next year or so. I actually think that will be what happens in the NBA , MLB , NCAA Football and so on . The games will happen IMO though .

I think all the hand wringing is silly though because this is such a fluid thing we will have no idea truly what any of these kids will do beyond Maxey for months and months. Just because they think they want to stay in the draft today means little . We all know Diallo , EJ , Briscoe and others wanted to stay in the draft but came back for years and others will do it again. No need to stress . And all we need to do is get back EJ and we are the preseason top 3 team ( given we add a back up pg for askew and maybe 1 more big for depth ) So not a ton to stress.

I’m jealous man. Really jealous.

One of these days I’ll get around to picking one up and fixing it up.

That’s a really sweet car.
Best way is craigslist. Driving around second best. I used to be in the medical field and had to do a lot of driving. Always had my eyes on peoples back yards. I have bought many a nice old classic that way. Buy them, tear them apart and put them back together. Lot of fun and the best part is you are restoring history. Kind of a greasy Archaeologist:)

Congrats ! You and the person -edit (now up to 6 sadly) who liked your post are probably the only two humans in the world still comparing this to the flu!

At this point, I’m becoming curious to see how long they can hold out thinking that.

Maybe they’ll end up being the COVID-19 equivalent of those Japanese soldiers that were found still hiding in the jungle 60 years after World War II ended.

No, we don't go through this for the Flu, know why??? There is a treatment, and to a less extent, a vaccine. 2 things that don't exist for this virus. We are taking precautions because of no known treatments. Once there is treatments, then it will become like the flu, until then we are taking precautions in order to keep 200,000 or more deaths from happening.

Vaccine is still months to over a year away unfortunately, but an effective treatment could be just around the corner. An effective treatment will determine whether there is sports next year or not. No treatment, no sports. Treatment, sports.

Bigger issue for me right now would be simply finding time to work on it.

Well, finding time might be less of an issue right this moment, but assuming things can get back to normal relatively soon I think finding time will still be a challenge.

Did you keep it pretty much stock or did you make some modifications?

All stock. Picked it up in Gatlinburg. Traded a few boxes of nos 60's parts I had lying around the garage for it.

I’m at the point where I couldn’t care less who goes and who comes back. I can’t do anything about it and it doesn’t affect my life. Wash, rinse, repeat.

You know it is crazy to think that but here is an even wilder question:

If this were to happen would sports ever recover? Would people ever go back?

Did the transistor radio in your bunker quit working 2 months ago? Everybody, including Trump and Fox news now admits that this is not just a typical flu.
Here is some more news you may just now be learning....smoking causes cancer, don't eat lead paint chips, the Earth is round, and slavery is now illegal.

There you go using reason in a post reason world.

No idea what to predict with Corona, but we could at least wait until everyone's actually officially gone and not returning before making our "the sky is falling!" posts.

I never watch CNN. And I was one of those people who compared it to the flu for a long time.

When Kirk Herbstreit says he doesn't foresee any football being played this fall, I ask "what would he have to gain by saying that?" The answer is nothing.

The freaking Olympics were postponed.

It's time we all realize that defeating this thing is MUCH more important than any sports season. Hell, my Rams just built the best stadium in the NFL. This was their debut season in that stadium. Was looking forward to it but now I doubt it happens this year.

If I'm Quickley or Richards or any other college player, I take whatever guaranteed money I can get right now. It's not doom and gloom. It's reality.

I wouldn't be surprised. These viral outbreaks frequently follow that pattern ...dissipate in the summer but then come raging back with a second wave in the fall.

That's what happened with the horrid 1918 H1N1 pandemic. By the end of summer people thought it was finally ending, but then it came roaring back and killed more people in October than any prior month.

Let's pray this one doesn't work the same way.

Well the Chinese black markets already opened their areas where they sell exotic animals and cats, dogs any animals for food or "medicine". So if the Covid don't come back I'm sure something else will.
