Happiest person on the Reb sideline when Scott broke it was the D coordinator...

If the Rebs lose that game that corner blitz call would've been the focal point of the Reb ire. He was bailed out by another awful defensive call and a great play call, blocking, and run by Scott. When I saw the sweep I was thinking what the Hell are they running the ball for. What a dumb call. 75 yds later it was a great call.

Pretty fun game to watch even though the Bears pulled it out in the end.

Few Things taken from this game
1. Jordan Mathews is a helluva player
2. It's gonna be a long damn year listening about Nkemdeche. We may not ever see a picture of Archie in the stands because everytime there is a chance the camera is gonna be on him.
3. Treadwell and Moncrief are a bad *** receiving tandem.
4. Bo Wallace is still gonna throw a ton of ints this season. Vandy dropped 2 tonight.

moncrief who? gives me nightmares thinking about treadwell.
wallace could hardly throw 4 balls past 20 yards....which means those receivers are really good...he looked like he was about 70% considering the lack of throws that stretched the field. i doubt its going to get much better during the season, so we should swarm the short flats...thats where the rebs made their living. nkimdeecheese should most likely be 2nd string. he has some obvious talent, but he aint there yet...case in point, goal-line air form-tackle.

bottom line, we have to be more physical, but the bears have lost a half-step in the offseason...most likely due to wallace not looking 100%. based on how that defense played tonight, i feel pretty good about our chances in starkville, but i have no idea how we look saturday. for some reason, i thought the bears might blow out vandy....they exposed some weaknesses but quelled some as well. overall, great game, but i feel much better after tonight than i did................assuming we have some sort of secondary. one thing is for sure, its all about our defensive pressure.....if we repeat last year, we lose.

You are right about the D coordinator. These are reasons he has been let go at other SEC and ACC jobs. That was a complete bonehead call in that situation.

I don't so much think the call to jeff scott was a great call. It worked out well because Vandy just did a terrible, terrible job defending that particular play. I saw a tweet that said "Vandy gonna Vandy." That pretty much says it all. I think Freeze was simply trying to get a few yards to get a manageable 3rd down with getting that first first down on the drive being the key.

Treadwell looked good no doubt, but I do think he was the beneficiary of Vandy paying particular attention to Moncrief with good reason.

Vandy may have dropped 2 ints, but it seemed like Wallace threw some that gave Vandy more than 2 chances at ints. They just did got hit in the back or knee or whatever before they could get their heads around. Wallace gave them chances for turnovers, and it is amazing Vandy got none.

look I consider myself a reasonable reb

and I thought tonight's game would be close as **** (about like it played out). Vandy is a solid team, just watch the season play out. I predicted 6-7 wins and the iffy one to me was Vandy. This game was a step forward for the Rebs, and any reasonable college football fan would agree. A "close" game against Vandy this year is not a setback by any stretch of the imagination. Trying to place this game in the "emotional loss" column is delusional. A road win against Vandy is a nice win this year, and any Reb who thought this would be a blowout was delusional on the rebs and Vandy. Looking forward to seeing the dogs...I predict a similar game. I'm married to a Dore, so this was my Superbowl.

It's definitely a nice win, since you can't ever seem to beat them. The monkey is off your back, at least for this season.

Thank God I'm not an Ole Miss fan, but if I was, I would say that I saw a lot of things to be excited about last night, and I saw a lot of things that would scare the **** out of me. For your sake, maybe the former will outweigh the latter as the season progresses.

It seems like a simple offense. Read option runs, and play action off that. short crossing routes, and lots of slip screens is the bread and butter. If you could shut down the read option with scott and Wallace making them one dimensional would make things a lot easier to stop. The runs are simplistic, it seems you have someone take Scott and another take Wallace. How many times did wallace keep and just go straight ahead 15-20? Apparently, it's like novacane and it just takes time. Must be hard to stop.

They have a good ball club, Moncreif and treadwell are tough then throw in Jamez logan as a 3rd option. They are going to be hard to beat. I think they will get dirt rolled in their 5 game nightmare stretch, but they have a lot of fight about them. Seems like a few key injuries would really derail them. I doubt their depth is that great. If they can stay healthy the are a tough ask, period.

From what I read (didn't watch) Matt Luke had to be pretty happy too, it sounds like the OL was a train wreck that crashed into a dumpster fire for a majority of the game.

I don't really understand the bear version of the "up tempo" offense. THey may not huddle, but most of the time they run the game clock down as low any teams that do huddle. They seem to do much better when they take the snap shortly after the ball is placed (2nd half Egg Bowl, second half yesterday) but much of the time they are slooow. And they run a shotgun on every play--even 3rd and an inch. WHy? They were supposed to be loaded at RB but only one RB--Scott got more than token carries. Wallace --with a shoulder held together with a rubber band (literally) --ran more than any one.

DO they recruit 4 star RBs just to get their recruiting class higher ranked, or are they planning on using them for something other than slot receivers?

Running to the line keeps the defense from making situational substitutions.

On Scott's run, 3 Vandy players chasing the play quit when he got close to ...

the sideline. If they'd just kept running, because of the angle, they had a good chance of knocking him OOB or tackling him a few yards downfield.
