Stonewall Jackson was a better general than Lee. His death really turned around the war. Lee's decisions at Gettysburg (thank goodness) destroyed the South's ability to stay in the war.

The outcome of Gettysburg would have been the same IMO (Union win)...I think the war may have dragged on a little longer but with an eventual Union win.

When I went, I was staying down in Frederick, MD and drove up. Waynesburg, PA (it might be Waynesboro) is close by too with reasonable rates, I think.
