and as a great poster said, Quentin Saulsberry just breathed a sigh of relief.

the third round. After all the drama and forgetting your cleats and not showing up for team meetings, i really don't care that much. He was hurt most of the time anyway.

After all the trouble they went through to keep Hardy in school too. I hate that for them.

He makes freaking greeting cards.

Yep, that's the best part of it all. I can't remember who wrote the article, but whoever it was found it funny that he talked so excitedly about his potential greeting card business. Nevermind the fact that if he wanted to focus on football he could make enough money in 5 years to set himself up with 10 separate greeting card businesses. Instead, football was and still is just a side gig for Greg apparently. He'll go down as one of the oddest players to play in Ole Miss history.

And I don't think he'll survive that long in the NFL. Way too much will be demanded of him, and he'll just get tired of it.

At least we got the better part of 3 years out of the guy. Putting a ton of effort into guys like Chris Strong and Rory Johnson is what I call a waste of time.

Because his football career is over.

Edited to add re: your "his head is on another planet" comment, that's exactly what told a UM fan coworker of mine yesterday. The guy was saying that Hardy should come back to improve his draft position, etc. I said that yeah, but his mind is going to be somewhere on Jupiter when he makes that decision.

EDIT: I just received word from Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt (via text message) that he was still talking to Hardy and his mother about the NFL situation and it was not a done deal. That doesn't mean that Hardy is staying or going, just that the Ole Miss coach doesn't think it's over. Honestly, I still get the feeling that he's leaning NFL, but we'll see what plays out over the next few hours (or maybe even days)...

that he may need another surgery on his foot and he would be out four weeks. This may play a part in his decision as he would be crazy to go into the draft with injury concerns if he could avoid it.

Wonder which Rebel doctor lied to him about that. I have no doubt that the regime will do anything and everything to win after watching the Rory Johnson debacle.

You're being sarcastic right? Because you do realize we have a completely different staff in place than we did when Rory Johnson was on campus, right?

Or is it just that the Dark Lord Khayat is behind it all, and this is his last evil move as an evil college football dictator?

knowledge, he never had any particular problems with school itself. Late to practice. Late to workouts. Late to everything else. But, as far as I am aware, he was an okay student.

From our CL Beat writer

Just had a meeting with UM coach Houston Nutt and he told us that defensive end Greg Hardy will be back with the Rebels next season. Nutt and Hardy (and Hardy's mom) had about a 90-minute meeting on Thursday morning, with both sides agreeing that it was in Hardy's best interest to return. Hardy's foot is still a little banged up, according to Nutt, but he said he still hopes to have him for spring workouts.

Here's what Hardy had to say in a statement released by the school: "I'm excited to return for my senior year and look forward to helping our team build on the success we enjoyed this season. Professional football is a goal every college players strives to reach, but I feel it is in my best interest to return to school."

Rebs for some extra money on the side or something? I mean this is the second year in a row that you've had a player declare they are leaving (Oher last year), only to have a "meeting" with the coach and find its in their best interest to come back. If they were really interested in what was best for their future, you would think they would sit down with the coaches BEFORE they made a public decision. Kind of starting to sound like they are mostly interested in what's best for them in the here and now to me and that the Reb coaching staff is having to go back into "recruiting" mode with these guys.

but I dont think Hardy ever made the declaration that he was going. Oher did, but that was right after Orgeron being fired and Oher wasnt sure of the new staff. Two very different situations.

I had assumed from the posts on this thread that he did go public, but upon reading the ESPN article it does sound like he hadn't yet.
