Oil field industrial electrician for a contractor. I disliked my employer so much I didn't protest an easy-to- prove age discrimination case (one foreman even privately admitted it was true and apologized.) Ended up with a better, much easier and less dangerous job.

Age discrimination at 55? That's not old. Not trying to be a smart ***, just curious the back story. Glad you scored a better job, at any rate.
One reason stopping me from saying "f*ck it" and emigrating to Germany a few years ago centered on age discrimination. Everybody in Germany, and I mean EVERYBODY, told me I was crazy for considering the notion after age 50. Regardless of skillset and experience, finding a decent, worthwhile position over there is tough unless one works in the medical field.
We're not talking about sitting in an office working on a computer.
55 is definitely old in a field of hard physical labor requiring enough constant wits about you not to get yourself or others electrocuted. Three-phase 480 volts gets your attention. I knew several guys (other companies) who bought the farm that way..
Industrial electrical is not the same as a local electrician wiring a house. It entails running huge lengths of thick heavy gauge cable in high-up cable trays or through underground ducts over long distances. It was a self-insured company that paid any employee injury costs themselves. There was a perceived danger of a person my age being much more likely getting injured. They laid off about a dozen guys and called the others with less seniority back but I never heard from them again..
We're talking about this size and often much larger.

Interesting thing. As quality if life improves and we live longer and longer, how discriminating can companies get in the future? Milleneals suck, so that leaves us
As long as they can buy corporate liability insurance, they will be more emboldened to push the boundaries.
I'm curious if you'd like to compare how whites would be treated or seen in an all black neighborhood or if other countries would be hellbent on making sure Americans felt comfortable, were represented, had every need taken care of and if you were critical of them in your country, you're a racist and shamed?

The administrators are very much to the left and are terrified of offending these crazies. Their professors are all Democrats who feed this stuff to them. Every class is about some perceived injustice, identity politics are pushed all the time, there are activists always protesting something.
Why are any of us surprised of how crazy college is considering you have really young, foolish and impressionable kids who watch media which is all to the left, have professors who are all to the left and hear no other voices and are told that anyone who disagrees with them must be nazis.

That's rude and shouldn't happen, but that's also because plenty of servers have been burned at an alarming rate by not being tipped. So they actually lose money when that happens.

All I know is when I waited tables, the best tip I ever received was by a black dude. Worst - an Asian chick with a terse note of "terrible service" written down. But that was probably deserved. I was the best waiter on the planet when I had three tables. And I went to the worst when you gave me the 4th.

I worked at a pretty high volume seafood restaurant on bham years ago. Was probably 60/40 black/white staff and clientele.
The thing that got me was that the black waiters would beyotch and moan about getting a large party of black guests.
I got stiffed by all types and tipped very very well by all types of people but definitey got a lot of 50 dolla bills on a 48.98 dollar tab.
One time, I found this bracelet that was a band of about one carat diamonds all the way around. Probably 20 diamonds. Old rich white lady dropped it and hadn't even realized it. I could have swiped that sucker up and quit work. Would have paid my rent all year. Informed her and she didn't even thank me and left me about 2% on excellent service. Should have yanked that bracelet. Oh wel
Yeah I feel that. I think wait staff is some of the most honest you'll come across because they know the struggle. I've kept so many purses and costas and stuff I couldn't even tell you. But, before I get internet murdered, I will say blacks in general don't tip well.
I've had some tip spectacular, but I'm saying in general. Adrian Peterson had his bill comped and was pissed they made him tip 20% still.
My buddy josh tips fantastic because he knows the reputation. It's not like that community doesn't know.
I've also stopped letting people eat to go food at the bar, because people think that's a way to not have to tip.
I've also had white people or anyone, want to carry their bar tab to the table because they think they're tipping twice. Just tip 20% or he'll 15% and it's the same either way. Quit nickel and diming your vacation people. If you can't afford a vacation save two more months and then go.
