on sundays, our baseball team has outscored our football team 4 out of 6 times against common SEC opponents. i know it's totally irrelevant, but considering we've lost 4 of those 6 sunday games, it just goes to show how bad both squads are.

vs. arkansas - baseball 12 (W), football 31 (W)
vs. auburn - baseball 10 (L), football 2 (L)
vs. tennessee - baseball 10 (W), football 3 (L)
vs. kentucky - baseball 17 (L), football 13 (L)
vs. vandy - baseball 3 (L), football 17 (W)
vs. alabama - baseball 16 (L), football 7 (L)

it only took 15 minutes to figure this out. so don't tell me i have way too much time on my hands.

In 1986, MSU lost to New Orleans (5-15) and to Birmingham Southern (4-15).

Look at this a a potentially good omen: The next 4 years would be filled with post-season appearances, including a CWS.

we've lost 6 conference games in which we scored 8 or more runs. I looked at some other teams and its hard to find a team that can even say that once.

In addition to MSU, UGA scored 8 and lost, UT scored 11 and lost. UGA also did it Saturday. I didn't look further than that, but I guess it's not as uncommon as one would think.

Yep, UGA scored at least 8 twice this weekend in losses, and I know they scored 8 in one of their losses to us last weekend.

Vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, Auburn and Bama have combined to do it 3 times this year by my count.

We've done it 6.

Got side-tracked reading other items in the baseball media guide, forgot the specifics of the original question, gave bad information and started the apocalypse. Sorry. <shrug>

PS - On the bright side, I thought nobody "listened" to my posts anyway. Thanks for the validation. :)
