Has any player ever inspired as much love/hate as Kobe Bryant?

There seems to be no middle ground on opinions of Kobe. I can't think of any NBA player that was ever as polarizing. Isiah Thomas is the only one that even comes close.

Kobe ruined a dynasty in L.A. because he's an egotisticalasshole.

Shaq obviously had no part in breaking up that team. He says funny things in interviews, so he has to be a stand up guy.

If they win tonight, they are STILL a dynasty. Also, Kobe ain't the one that left.

They seem to be getting along pretty well right now. And it's not like they were at the height of the dynasty when Shaq left. They hadn't won the title for three years. Also, anyone who says they would have kept Shaq instead of Kobe at that point in their careers is insane.

because he wanted to be the Man, and Buss obliged...and thus the reason I'm no longer a Laker fan

Screw Kobe and the Lakers tonight

I like Kobe even more now for making you stop being a fan of the Lakers.

The Lakers definitely kept the right player because they would not be playing in the 3rd straight finals with Shaq right now.

they would have probably played in 3 straight from 2005-2007...but instead Shaq took DWade to a title in 2006 while Kobe sat his *** at home from 2005-2007

And what has Shaq done the last 3 years during the Finals while Kobe was playing for a title?

if Kobe had been smart- he would have played with Shaq another 2-3 years, won another title or two, and then had them rebuild the team as they have now

His dumbass finally realized he cant do it without a quality Center- and he wasted 3 years of his career because of it

Pretty much everyone hated Rocker. Even Braves fans (like myself) hoped he pitched well but that was it.

And Shaq couldn't win without an All Star wing man who could score at the end of games because he was too big a libility at the free throw line.

Whatever. If Kobe wins tonight then he will have 5 rings to Shaq's 4. I would call that a pretty damn good career.

It's relevant because that is the dynasty he ruined. Not only did he run the best center in the game out of town, he almost ran the best coach out of town. I'll admit Kobe has done a lot to change his image since he sodomized the woman in Denver, but I'll alwaysthink ofhim as the spoiled, self anointed greatest player ever, that brought down that team. I used to be a Lakers fan, but no longer because of him.

Seriously, is it that hard for you to admit that Kobe had his hand in running Shaq off, and that he probably would have won at least one more title with him? Damn you sound like a dumbass when defending them

As in 2004, when Kobe lost the Lakers the title by playing selfish and refusing to let Shaq completely manhandle the Pistons (which he did whenever he had the ball), and the subsequent three years where it really was Kobe's team completely? Were those years indicative of a great player? Or simply a great scorer?

And another thing that no one talks about anymore: If Memphis doesn't gift wrap Pau Gasol to the Lakers in '08, they still suck, and Kobe still is ringless without the Big Aristotle/Cactus/Diesel.

Sure he had a hand in it but so did Shaq. They both acted like titty babies. You sound like a dumbass pretending that Kobe is not one of the best players of all time.

And no **** he would not have won a title without Gasol. Guess what? Bird would not have won without McHale. Jordan would not have won without Pippen. Isiah would not have won without Dumars. Russell would not have won without Cousey. That is the dumbest argument against Kobe that there is. There are not many players in history that would have won titles without the team's second best player.
