I remember talk about how he might be suspended for the La Tech game. I haven't heard anything else about it and David Murray, Swindoll and Rosebowl don't have any info about it either. I would hate going into that game without Pegues.

and say he plays every minute of the La Tech game, if the game is remotely close.

I wouldn't expect him to miss anything for a suspended DL and open container violation.

Good grief, it's not like he killed somebody.

I don't understand why people expect the football players to act so much better than normal students. Fire a gun a campus and you are gone, I'm fine with that. But let's be honest, the only difference between a player who gets a DUI and 99.99% of the rest us is that we didn't get caught. I really grow tired of the media having a field day on every little thing one of these guys does. We bring them to school to hit people and run with a ball, not to be choir boys.

with all the dope smokers and delinquents who post on the board. I don't think a player should be punished a lot for a DUI -- by the law, that is.

I think the cops should dump them off at the coach's doorstep and said coach should make that player's life a living hell for a subtantial duration of time. This goes along with a multitude of offenses that are about as serious as a DUI -- and I guess that is the rub. I don't get to decide what is as serious, what is more serious, etc.

How do you reconcile these two statements?

I don't think a player should be punished a lot for a DUI -- by the law, that is.

I think the cops should dump them off at the coach's doorstep and said coach should make that player's life a living hell for a subtantial duration of time.
and

Kill someone in a DUI accident? 8 years ain't enough for that.
The only difference is one was in a car accident and the other wasn't.

When you kill someone -- intentionally or unintentionally -- the punishment should be harsh. Obviously, it should be more harsh if it is intentional.

Not necessarily saying it's too harsh, but it's damn sure not lenient.

A car accident occurs between two or more vehicles due to poor weather conditions, a weird series of unpredictable events, a chain reaction of events, a poor or incorrect split second decision, etc. A driver that chooses to get intoxicated and then chooses to drive. So, that driver has made two conscious & willful decisions, with ample time to ponder both, which led to the crash that they were involved in. Sure, they did not mean to kill the other driver/passengers/pedestrian, but they chose a behavior which inherently puts those around them at risk. So there is a larger difference between a DUI and DUI crash in which someone was killed. Personally, I believe DUIs do not carry harsh enough penalties since the person makes a willful decision that they know endangers those around them. And yes, for the record, I have driven under the influence in my past.

when you feel the thread has reached a point where you feel the need to interject your opinion on the legal system, don't. It was bad enough in the USM thread below.
